WipEout HD: 8 tracks, 38 Trophies, 1080p, 60fps, 100% awesome
You should know how excited we are for WipEout HD. The long-delayed futuristic racer is coming out in the next few weeks, and will come at a budget price sure to make us all rather pleased. Although its a budget downloadable title, it's production values speak otherwise. There's going to be a lot of content, as this intial release already features 8 tracks (6 from WipEout Pure, 2 from WipEout Pulse) -- and there are variations of the same track as well, with mirroring and Zone mode.
Obviously, many people will be speaking about the game's incredible visuals: 1080p, 60fps -- almost unheard of in this generation of games. Yet, somehow the guys at Studio Liverpool have been able to pull it off while making the game look as good as it does.
Yes, there are also Trophies in the game (including a Platinum Trophy, as mentioned earlier). There will be 38 Trophies in all, some which are ridiculously easy (such as simply taking a picture in Photo Mode). Obviously, there will be some eye-bleeding Trophies to be caught in harder, faster difficulties.

i think it will be anounced as a "download right now" in TGS so that sony have something to show. Im going to get mad if they delay home or my life with playstation
Averna @ Sep 12th 2008 8:44PM
The last Wipeout article on here said "very soon, before the end of the month soon" or something like that.

This game will be the best racing-/PSN-game this year. And since I think Motorstorm: Pacific Rift looks awesome I think you guys can figure out what i think of this one.

I dig that this leverages the PSP tracks, they are great.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YEAH!
WipEout HD. The continuation of the game with the most speed and the furthest pushed futuristic edge continues! Once this one comes out, I'll be waiting for WipEout PS3. See the trend?
Can't wait to surf this anti-gravity wave.
Sony gets it.

Shame Zone mode looks crap now :(
DrunkRaba @ Sep 12th 2008 7:45PM
I was really looking forward to Zone mode before, not si much now. The game itself though is looking awesome.
Metal_Gear @ Sep 12th 2008 11:47AM
This is becomeing quite the hidden gem in the PS3's armor.

Devin @ Sep 13th 2008 11:04AM
Oh great. Here it comes.
Dembonz @ Sep 12th 2008 12:19PM
Been waiting for this for so long... I've been a huge fan of these games since the first WipEout. WipEout and Resident Evil were THE reason I bought a PSX (and I've been a Playstation/WipEout fan ever since). The PSP games Pure and Pulse were incredible and brought the series back to where it should be, after a mediocre Fusion game for PS2, and now we're getting this amazing looking title. The momentum is building....
SG @ Sep 12th 2008 12:41PM
But what do they mean by 1080p? It's one thing to have a game OUTPUT 1080p, it's another thing to make it RENDER in 1080p. Look at the not-remotely 720p GTA IV. They call that 720p.
Devin @ Sep 12th 2008 12:49PM
I think it will be rendered fully in 1080p. Others support it, but none really stood out in news articles as 1080p so....who knows...
Dembonz @ Sep 12th 2008 2:03PM
It runs at a resolution of 1920x1080. There aren't many games that run at that, most are around 1280x1024. And of the ones that do, some take a performance hit (framerate) at that rez.
Basically, it's as good as it gets.
bambino @ Sep 12th 2008 1:35PM
does this support ds3?
StingerVI @ Sep 12th 2008 2:03PM
I don't think there is a downloadable title on XBLM or WiiWare like this WipeoutHD game.
How much will it cost?
komrad @ Sep 12th 2008 2:35PM
...and the bad news is: i cannot download it now.
Stranger @ Sep 13th 2008 2:59PM
Gimme now!
Cannot wait, soooo excited for this one. Thanks for the updates!
