Call of Duty 4 is $40; Double XP weekend coming soon

Now you really have zero excuse not to own the instant classic Call of Duty 4. Amazon has the Game of the Year Edition listed at $39.99 with free shipping; interestingly enough, this price isn't listed on the their main page for the game. Rather, you have to click on the Used and New section to find the discounted price. A look around the internet shows the game still at the $59.99 price point, so take advantage of this offer here.

In other CoD4 news, some of your might have heard this past weekend was Double XP weekend for Xbox 360 owners of the game. It looks like PS3 owners will be getting the same treatment. According to Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling, our version of the event was delayed due to "schedule conflicts" and will begin sometime near the 18th. We should "expect some of the same benefits and festivities" as the 360 version of the event, such as 50% off the Variety Map Pack. The exact details are coming later in the week, so stay tuned.

Screw Call of Duty 4. That game is a disorganized mess in terms of gameplay. For me, it's all about the SOCOM beta until the game releases. There, you actually have a lot of tactics going on, and the map design is superb. Not to mention the community features in the beta already beat the community features of Call of Duty 4. That shows how pathetic and overrated Call of Duty 4 is. Honestly, who really plays it anymore. There are better shooters out there.

Try putting on Light Armor. You'll see your speed by walking and sprinting increase a lot. Plus, it can't be fast like Call of Duty 4. The majority of games have one life per round rule (and only ranked games are one life per round), so you won't really see a lot of people rushing to get killed in the first minute. You'll travel as a team to get areas such as the Fish Market, or as Commandos, you'll try and go to the red room before the Mercenaries do in order to gain control of the balcony, get the bomb, and when the bomb planter has gone under it, after he's passed, blow it up so it'll take longer for Mercenaries to get to the bomb site, giving you time to plant, and defend from many points. It's things like this that make SOCOM so much better for me. The amount of teamwork. But I agree, to each his own.

I loved playing COD4 online until I reached the highest rank and there was nothing else to do except that stupid prestige mode. I was hoping you would get something for doing all the online achievements (besides points). I just can't get into it anymore. Still a great game, and SOCOM sucks.

uhhh i still play and i will play screw socom. it sucks plus third person shooters are a joke and not accurate

i guess i would like the game better if it had a first person option that would switch to third person when using the peek from cover mechanic. oh well.

Yeah, no map packs after that one, no new game modes, no trophy support. COD4 was great for its time, but these days it's boring.

I just spent $16 on Warhawk's expansions and played the hell out of it over the weekend. Man I love collection mode and the new maps + jet packs!

I still play it online.. I love it.. Its a great Fun game... I understand there are "Better" Games but COD4 is still fun.. until SOCOM... COD4 is for me.

give me a break, call of duty 4 set the bar so high that no other game can't touch it right now. socom beta is alright, but nothing special about it. i thought cod4 had lag socom takes the cake. socom takes so long just to start a online game. with cod4 your playing online in no time.in socom throwing a grenade sucks, the aim sucks, the graphics are decent at best. when you respawn it takes you forever just to get back to the spot where you got killed.

So far nothing I've seen can come close to touching COD4, let alone being better than it. SOCOM takes so long for everything that you're lucky if you see ten people in a round. COD4 became twice as fun as soon as my friend convinced me to get a headset :D

I jsut picked up COD4 2 weeks ago and i love it! played through the main game tehn been going crazy on the online play. The only thing i don't like is that there's so many people who don't have a cluewhen it comes to team work... everyone usually jsut takes of in different places. No one watching other people's back etc, especially snipers. When i have one in the group i usually watch the building they're in so they don't get killed so damn easy...unfortunately no one does the same for me. Its a hard life being a sniper. :P

Still love the game though. Rank 22 right now so this bonus XP will come in really handy.
