LittleBigReleaseDates! We've received a press release stating that
LittleBigPlanet will be released in the UK on October 24th. We're not sure whether the rest of Europe will be receiving it on the 29th or not, but the UK will definitely be able to get their hands on the game five days ahead of the date
announced at Leipzig. If you want it before then, however, you'll need to be on the other side of the Atlantic. North Americans will be getting their LittleBigMits on the game three days before that, on the 21st. Not exactly simultaneous, but close enough.
LittleBigPlanet is (finally!) almost out.

What is SCEE playing at?! Why's it 3 days later in its *own* territory?!
Laurens Holst @ Sep 16th 2008 1:42PM
Probably because of logistics. Don’t whine over 3 measly days. Be glad you’re getting it earlier than expected.
Yaster @ Sep 16th 2008 2:11PM
Games in the states come out on Tuesdays, games in the UK come out on Fridays. Always been that way with a couple of exceptions
s0ya @ Sep 16th 2008 1:10PM
Hats off to the Yanks though... Arguably the UK's largest game export and the US get it first!
Charlie @ Sep 16th 2008 1:20PM
Good to know the release date, I just need to find $60 to buy the reason I bought the PS3.
Weird about the date difference though.
Stranger @ Sep 16th 2008 1:23PM
Woo! bring it on
djhsecondnature @ Sep 16th 2008 1:30PM
I really don't care that the US get's it 3 days earlier than us, I can play it 5 days earlier than i was expecting :)!
Metal_Gear @ Sep 16th 2008 1:37PM
The game nor the servers are region locked so I cant see why there is a delay between releases, and I cant see a reason to care as we can import.
I wonder how long it will take for 'EarlierThanPlanned-station 3' to catch on... >_>
Popfrogs @ Sep 16th 2008 3:50PM
It'd be a great PR move if every Sony release came out "early". All they have to do is add a few months to every release date, then change it at the last minute to the real date.
Dan @ Sep 16th 2008 1:52PM
The difference in release dates comes from the US' policy of releasing games on tuesdays and the UK's policy of releasing on a friday. Simple as that. :)
j.howlett @ Sep 16th 2008 2:16PM
that's what i was thinking. in the states most home movies, music, and game releases happen on tuesday, unless something special comes up
rd2000 @ Sep 16th 2008 2:20PM
@ Metal_Gear where did you hear this game wasn't region locked ?
How does that work with the fact that you can't upload your own levels or designs to other regions ?
I'll bet you a buck on this, that if you buy this in the US , you will be playing this game online with yanks only.
Jem @ Sep 16th 2008 2:22PM
http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/08/23/littlebigplanet-confirmed-region-free-by-scee-rep/
You owe me a buck. ;)
Nathanical @ Sep 16th 2008 2:22PM
and the good news is, your wrong! you can play, create and share with all regions. confirmed.
Vincent @ Sep 16th 2008 2:22PM
They have stated several times it's region-free in the sense that you will be able to share stuff with people from whatever region =P
rd2000 @ Sep 16th 2008 4:00PM
well that IS good news. Cheers
Vincent @ Sep 16th 2008 2:21PM
Wohooo!! And I just pre-ordered the game last sunday!
THE GUARDIAN @ Sep 16th 2008 2:27PM

Shawn @ Sep 16th 2008 3:37PM
You mean play.com? Best Buy has NARIKO pre-order?
Nathanical @ Sep 16th 2008 4:50PM
@shawn
Play.com has Nariko for the UK.
THE GUARDIAN @ Sep 16th 2008 2:42PM
CAN YOU IMAGINE 1 MILLION COPIES BEING SOLD THE FIRST WEEK AND HAVING HALF OR HELL EVEN A QUARTER OF THOSE PEOPLE CREATING A LEVEL AND POSTING IT ONLINE WITHIN THAT TIME FRAME, THAT'S 250,000 LEVELS IN A WEEK, THAT'S INSANE!!! :D
Max @ Sep 16th 2008 3:31PM
THIS REALLY PISSES ME OFF!! when games get made in America, most of the time it comes out in America first, BUT when and English made game comes out, where does it go first? TO FUCKING AMERICA!!!!! christ, will europe get any any good game first. fuck me!!!
djhsecondnature @ Sep 16th 2008 3:37PM
you need to think of it in terms of weeks not days, as the release days are different in the US (tuesdays) to the UK (fridays), so its the same week.
THE GUARDIAN @ Sep 16th 2008 3:37PM
YEAH IT SUCKS DUDE!!! :(
SnazzyD @ Sep 16th 2008 3:26PM
Holy o moly that's a lot of ALL CAPS in consecutive posts. I'm still reeling...
I've already pre-ordered 4 copies so I'm doing my part in getting this to the 'first million'. This could easily be a 3-5 million seller and will likely continue to sell for years to come.
Even if only 1% of 1 million users only create one level period, that's 1,000 levels. Don't forget that they are looking for the cream of the crop so there will be people taking sick days to finish off their master levels.
As a result, the rest of the community will have more amazing levels than they have the time to even look at. MM know what they're doing - no doubt about that...
Kspraydad @ Sep 16th 2008 3:33PM
Moved up to coincide with a PS3 price drop imo.
Shawn @ Sep 16th 2008 3:40PM
There wont be a price drop in a very long time. Sony already hurt from the losses they've taken with PS3 (1 reason why they don't bribe for exclusives.) You think Sony's going to have a price drop knowing all there best games are coming out around this time?
jarhead906 @ Sep 17th 2008 2:09PM
I thought the purpose was to make back money for profit through the amount of software sold for the system they are selling? Because technically speaking, no company could make a console in such vast quantities and not have a deficit. I have a feeling that once Killzone 2 arrives in February (if not January) the prices will be able to drop because of the enormous exclusive lineup for the end of '08.
Kspraydad @ Sep 16th 2008 4:00PM
Sony's hand is being forced. They CANNOT allow X to 'win' this holiday season in the US and EU/UK.
Popfrogs @ Sep 16th 2008 3:52PM
Still haven't seen an LBP bundle announcement, I figured they'd use this little masterpiece to move hardware and a bundle is an great way to do that.
Maybe via retailers than an actual LBP PS3 box?
Kspraydad @ Sep 16th 2008 4:01PM
http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/08/30/littlebigplanet-bundle-at-french-retailer-sackboy-trailer-c/
Real?
Popfrogs @ Sep 16th 2008 4:15PM
That's for Europe, and there's a German bundle for 440 euros as well. I'm still wondering about a US bundle.
Or...how about a Brother/Sister bundle with LBP and R2? Winner?
Kspraydad @ Sep 16th 2008 4:22PM
The Uncharted bundle is coming out in that time frame so I can't imagine they would do two...never know though.
PC-Max @ Sep 16th 2008 4:04PM
What I want to know is what does Canada get for Pre-orders???? Who is offering Nariko??? Dates are fine but I want pre-order deals.
Kspraydad @ Sep 16th 2008 4:14PM
All the official site has said so far:
To our Canadian fans – Apologies for forgetting about you – we didn’t have details until today, but we have good news and ‘gooder’ news. First the good news – there will be 2* pre-order campaigns in Canada. The ‘gooder’ news is that the 2* items are Kratos SackBoy and Nariko SackGirl.
So...regarding Kratos SackBoy @ Canada, he'll be waiting for you at your local EB Games & GameStop stores (north of the boarder).
Stay tuned for more info on Nariko SackGirl when we make our announcements on the site.
Livi70590 @ Sep 16th 2008 4:11PM

Hyams @ Sep 16th 2008 5:33PM
