SEGA teases new RPG to be revealed next week

What could SEGA be working on? Based off this newly revealed teaser site, the house that Sonic built is working on an RPG. It will be revealed in next week's issue of Famitsu which is out on Friday, September 26. Until then, we'll have to snoop around the website and make some speculative guesses.

Well so far, all we know is that the game is an RPG and has something to do with dragons. Secondly, the background music has an undeniably 8-bit sound ... an era far preceding PlayStation. Is this a hint of some sort? A remake of an old title perhaps or a retro release a la Capcom and Mega Man 9? Whatever it is, we're quite enchanted by the music, so we're definitely intrigued to find out if this will be a PS3, PSP, or downloadable PSN title.

all RPGs have dragons and middle age themes. How about more 'Till the End of Time/FFVII/FFVIII Futuristic or steam punk themes damn it. bah, humbug!

Sorry Dip, but you're wrong. Having dragons in your game isn't the same as being a middle aged/dragon THEMED game. Don't correct someone if you aren't going to do it intelligently.

FFVII alternate modern day reality with Mako replacing Electricity and awesome Gun armed man and Warrior scientifically enhanced with the cells of another race!

FFVIII Alternate reality with electricity and magic. Uber cool hi-tech boats, bikes, cars and FLYING CITIES (and not stupid cloud cities either)

Star ocean till the end of Time: Weird sort of Matrix-ish theme set far into the future.

Personally I'm a huge fan of the old SNES RPGs. They were the best of any of the consoles. The music alone on this teaser got me excited.

Well we have Dreamcast-ish music to start with, then it kicks out some Genesis or SNES-style tunes.

How bout Panzer Dragoon Saga (RPG) ?? Not much of an RPG fan but did like the first one it was based off Panzer Dragoon back on the Saturn.

Gotta say, as bad as the Flash work was, the music gets good at the end!

I wouldn’t say it sounds 8-bit… that’s more of a 16-bit-sound. 8-bit is blips, this is more SNES-like FM/wave sound.

SEGA has been going downhill for a while now, but I might just pick up Valkyria Chronicles. This game seems like a Wii game to me.

If it's a remake or sequel to Panzer Dragoon Saga I will buy whichever hardware it's on on release date. That was one of the greatest games ever and worth owning a Saturn for on its own.
