LittleBigPlanet beta headed for Japan

Those of you who are anticipating the LittleBigPlanet beta will be happy to know that we've got some of the juicy details right here for you. Japanese PS3 owners can currently head to the PS Store and download a LBP theme that will also allow you to enter a drawing for the LBP beta, similar to the Home one that was held a while back.

According to the details given, applications to the beta will be accepted from September 17th to September 23rd. The beta itself will take place from September 29th to October 12th. The size of the file will be 950MB. In each region (Japan, Europe and North America), 20,000 users will be selected for a total of 60,000 users. Hopefully we'll hear about how North America and Europe can get in on the act soon.

Darn. I was kinda hoping that it would be a first come, first served sort of application, rather than a luck of the draw.
But only because I might have had a better chance at actually entering it.
I wonder what content they included that needed testing, though. I know that a good deal of the massive file size (on the disk) would be the pre-made levels and such, but I imagine a lot of the creation features are not accessable in the beta at that size.
Maybe they just want to test stability?
Also, my grammar is crap at this time of night.

Actually, LBP will be downloadable over the PSN in all territories, check singaporean playstation site, it says, it'll come in both BD copies and on the store.
So I'm not surprised by the beta's size. Yay :)

Actually, no. LBP is Blu-ray only, and almost fills a dual layer BD disc.

Yeah, as far as I was aware, it was BD only, due to the amount of space it takes up. Maybe in more obscure regions, they're releasing it as a PSN title, but without the pre-made levels or something?
Otherwise, someone in marketing stuffed up.

Yes, it's going to happen! Wait..download theme to qualify like with Home beta? Great, that was really successful. Somebody at Sony needs to rethink this process for beta application.

Hey fellas/ladies a good friend of mine is a manager from Gamestop and he was lucky enough to play LBP at their annual gamer conference in Vegas not to long ago and one of the games that really stood out to him as a GOTY canidate was LBP!! Just after hearing him speak so highly of the game and this coming from him whose a bit of an XBOT is good news for us!! I can't wait!!
