LittleBigPlanet features Facebook-esque tagging system
LittleBigPlanet has taken inspiration from a number of web sites, one of them being popular social networking site Facebook. In the LBP world, players will be able to network with others as they develop a persistent online persona. Players will be able to take pictures within the game, and those pictures will end up featured in the user's feed. "You'll have feeds of photos of you - levels that you've been in, photos people have taken of you," Alex Evans told GI.biz. "Then we take it even further, like Facebook. In any photos we know what kind of Sackboys were in it, who they were logged in as, so we put a box around their face which you can click and go and see that person. So if there's a cool level with a guy wearing an awesome costume, you just D-pad up to him and hit X, and now you can see his levels, his favorites."
This kind of interactivity should be familiar for the millions of users of Facebook. Perhaps the blokes at Media Molecule are attempting to do to videogames what Facebook did for the web -- considering the success of the latter, that bodes well for LBP.

Br4v0 @ Sep 17th 2008 12:44PM
They can end up calling it SackBook, or perhaps Teabag?
Metal_Gear @ Sep 17th 2008 12:49PM
To be honest, I'd have rather seen something like this for all of PSN.
But it does sound awesome, I like how other peoples screenshots with my Sackboy in them will be sent to me too ^_^
Averna @ Sep 18th 2008 12:01AM
True, but hey its a step in the right direction

See? I've been telling you guys for freakin ages now, sackboy is evil, that picture should prove it............... But this feature would be pretty cool..........
chimaera9 @ Sep 17th 2008 1:03PM
Does anyone remember reading whether or not we will be able to include customized music in the stages we design and put online for download?
343 Guilty Fart @ Sep 17th 2008 3:35PM
I think the answer currently is "no" because of the issues involved with intellectual property rights of the music artists. Unless they can get permission from the music companies (Sony BMG?) to license songs you probably won't be seeing this feature.
stargateheaven @ Sep 17th 2008 1:29PM
This sounds awesome.. !!

Do I need to be teased every day about this game from this site? I feel like a 12 year old with anticipation.
Jerses @ Sep 17th 2008 2:07PM
they also copied the software "phun!" and the ps2 graphics
Syn @ Sep 17th 2008 2:15PM
You are obviously confused.

PS2 vs PS3.
Also, you can't copy physics.
jarhead906 @ Sep 17th 2008 2:14PM
What are you responding to again?
Hopefully you're comparing PS2 visuals to the Facebook visual in the article, because LBP, while simple, looks a lot better than some 'next-gen' games recently.
Oh, and if this game isn't GoTY for 2008, then something is terribly, terribly corrupt and biased in the gaming community.
stargateheaven @ Sep 17th 2008 2:27PM
I dont get it..
Are you joking? i dont get it.. someone explain it to me..
Jerses @ Sep 17th 2008 2:28PM
So you want me to us the word "inspired" in phun engine? And come on it looks nice and all but they should have made something more next gen in terms of graphics... look at this picture

You can see the helmets polygons, for a SD tv this is nice but if you play that in HD you will notice.
Have you played rag doll kung fu for the PS2? no? well look at the graphics.

Playing games under a microscope... do yourself a favour and get out more.
Got news for you, graphics aren't everything, I have played games that looked like ass but were awesome fun, I have seen some of the most stunning games... and they were crap.
But saying it has PS2 graphics is pretty stupid, but then producing a screenshot which is 1239x720 to proove a point isn't smart either.
davey @ Sep 17th 2008 3:02PM
lol that's a fair comment Jerses, if you were playing the game from that perspective all the time. Unfortunately the camera is zoomed out much more during gameplay. According to your logic, no game has good graphics unless you can zoom right in and it still looks fantastic . This is not the case for any game I've seen.
stargateheaven @ Sep 17th 2008 4:24PM
That's not Ragdoll kungfu on the ps2. That's ragdoll kungfu on the PC!! plus, that image HD. Why would you even think its the ps2...
I don't give a shit about "helmet polygon's", that image is already HD, and i don't even notice that much, if anything; on sd it will look smoother. finally, the game looks gorgeous!
Jerses @ Sep 17th 2008 5:48PM
learn to read... im not bashing the gameplay im bashing the graphics...
metal_gear
And pacman keeps you 4 hours in the tv... what year are you living? this days its all about graphics + gameplay... gameplay alone wont do anything. Or youre telling me sony put a cell procesor just to add more gameplay? lol this gen is about how good the games looks...gameplay is always the same, if its not a shooter, fighting game, simulation, bla, bla,
This is an example of bashing the gameplay
LBP = semi 2d plataform game. The customization is only an add like it or not. You can`t customize anything but youre character in the story mode(yeah i played it). The real game is what? jumping on plataforms(mario) trying not to get burned (mario), try not to fall into pits (mario)...oh!! but you need to put sticker into a giraffe or a flower... two words MINI GAMES...
Jerses_Retard @ Sep 17th 2008 6:07PM
Jerses = retard.
You are taking an OLD screentshot from LAST YEAR and try to make your stupid case.
The latest footages of LBP shows it has one of the BEST GRAPHICS this generation.
You must be blind if you can't see that.
Araskaz @ Sep 17th 2008 8:33PM
First of all Jersus, you took a picture of LBP's first build to prove a point. I'm sorry but thats overdated, as they have fixed all graphical issues.
Second of all, even if they graphics do suck as bad as you think... does it really matter? Look at Warhawk, seriously the graphics dont look to good. But does anyone complain? Nope, because the gameplay is fanastic.
Look at Warhawk...
Look at the Mario Series...
Look at the Halo series...
Then tell me graphics = gameplay.
