IGN has just posted the intro to the Orick, California level in Resistance 2. Very little is known about the story campaign right now, but note that you should be getting new info very soon. How 'bout next week?

Yea, and it's advice he seems to ignore.

There's a massive wave of gunfire, and he stands in the open and doesn't get shot. Others who do get behind cover are shot. I hate these macho american supermen that fill up games like this. Humble them a bit - like, for example, Solid Snake - he was a rookie in the first couple of games, missed plot connections...etc. Then he was in his prime, but still missed things, and admitted to being depressed and drinking. His relationship with Meryl ended badly. Then he got old and sick. He was still superhuman, but there were character flaws that give the story depth. Resistance doesn't have that - Nathan Hale is as bland a hero as you could make.

precisely! i mean, it's great that they are willing to breathe some character into Nathan Hale this time, but somethings just missing that doesn't let him reach the potential of other great heroes.

but yeah, he should've slid into the hill for cover or find a truck to get behind.

Im so glad that Resistance 2's cinematics (at the very least) are more badass and lengthy than the first.

This just gets me even more excited about the gameplay.

Jeez, even on a 4 inch-embed video this game looks amazing. I can't wait for it.

The only gripe I have is that they made Hale a bit too bad ass, he even sounds like Marcus Fenix of Gears. What a damn transition, he said what, like 20 words at most in R1, now he's a BAMF?

i'll say right here you can put Marcus Fenix on anything and he'll sell it. Hale? he's just another bald action hero. just making a small marketing parallel between the 2 games since you brought up the comparison.

Looks great. Hope Hale has more dialogue than in the first. Cutscenes from Resistance 1 was like watching The History Channel.

That looks pretty good, I'm looking forward to this one. Its nice to have a shooter that isn't all grey.

I hope that they do a good job developing Hale's personality though. I didn't dislike him in R1, but there wasn't much to root for.

One other thing... is that a Chimera-style cooling tube coming out of his neck?

I think the only reason you hated it is because you had your own voice for him in your head. Since he never said a word in the first game...

Same goes for the Half Life guy. If they gave him a voice all of a sudden alot of people would say it's wrong.

yeah, because putting a forest in your game automatically gives it more color. see: Oblivion, Halo 3. whoever heard of atmosphere in a game to create mood?

sorry, but this vid might as well have come from the upcoming CoD game. pretty uninspiring definitely not as grand as that building size monster they had at E3. :/

Yeah, I dont like the voice for Hale. He said about 20 words in the first one and I wished they would have kept it that way. :(

Wasn't that hyped for this game before (Was more interested in Killzone 2) but this brought up the hype for me a little bit.

Something I really loved about the video was the realistic and awesome facial animation. Watch the video again, and look closely at Hale's face. You can see muscles tensing, mouth moving realisticly, eyes darting around, and brow tensing and untensing.

The benefits of motion capture. :D

that's really not incredibly impressive in this day and age with games like Heavenly Sword and Uncharted having accomplished realism before this game(and a bit more successful i might add).

i see a convoy that got ambushed. nothing I haven't seen in other games. although the camera work was very nice.
