LA Noire one of the most expensive games ever, may be coming to 360 too
It's been a while since we heard from LA Noire, Team Bondi's mysterious noir game which was announced ... and well, that's about all. Originally announced for the PS3, it appears the game's incredible production costs may have transitioned it to a multiplatform title. Tom Crago, CEO of Team Bondi called their upcoming game as one of "the biggest budget videogame in development anywhere in the world. It would certainly ... in terms of console titles, be in the top ten... LA Noire is a massive massive project."
According to IGN, Crago supposedly mentioned the project was hitting both PS3 and Xbox 360. Could PS3 have lost yet another exclusive? We'll have to wait and see once Team Bondi makes an official statement.
[Thanks, frankym!]

I thought they already said this wasn't the PS3 exclusive. Redundancy in the media.
Gambit07 @ Sep 19th 2008 7:18PM
Yup, I did read somewhere a while ago that it's also coming to 360. "the biggest budget videogame in development anywhere in the world". They should keep their mouths shut, they never heard of Shenmue?

I have been curious about this game since it was announced; hopefully more news will start coming out about it now and in the next few months.
chililili @ Sep 19th 2008 7:13PM
Does anyone care about exclusives anymore? I don't as long as they don't limit how good the game is (face it dvds can only store 4.5 gbs of media vs blurays with 50 gbs of media and I would hate to see less content ina game because of that). Anyway I'll see if this game interests me later on.
icedemon @ Sep 19th 2008 7:31PM
GTA4 is 6.8GB as the videos suggest when installing a full game to the HDD. So where you get this 4.5 from?
Averna @ Sep 19th 2008 9:29PM
Dual layer anyone?

I am about 50-50 on exclusivity. I want more exclusivity because the PS3 is just more powerful and more capable than the 360...
That's 100 percent fact now. Activision is putting features into Guitar Hero World Tour because the 360 can't do it. It's no longer a question whether or not the PS3 is more powerful at this piont.
Blu-Ray can hold around 6x the data of a 360 disk. THat may not sound right since DVD-9DL holds up to 9 or 10GB and BRDL holds about 45-50GB but remember this. every bit of information that would have to be accessible on another disk has to be reused. Which means that every time you add a disk, you waste storage space on duplicated data. Therefore it's very possible to be 6-7 times the capacity in some cases depending on how much data would have to be recycled.
Therefore I care about exclusivity if the game is only maximized in its potential on the PS3.
If the 360 can handle it, It's not that big of a deal.
The only OTHER time I care about exclusivity is when we're not getting a game we should be. Like Star Ocean 4. It was one of my most anticipated games and since Sqaure is giving them our FFXIII exclusivity we shoudl be getting their Star Ocean 4 Exclusive as well. That's the only time I care about exclusivity.
Honestly the fact that it's being made for the 360 does worry me on Star Ocean for because the last game had hardly any cinematics, SD graphics, but was 2 disks. I'm worried about losing replayability or some quality in order for it to be a 360 title. I put over 300 hours into the last game.
massive_98 @ Sep 19th 2008 7:20PM
This is too bad but I'm not sure it is certain yet.
-Sony Computer Entertainment is based in Japan, which is much closer to Australia than the USA where Xbox is based out of.
-It was originally announced as a PS3 exclusive and wasn't changed on a Take 2 press release.
-The head of team bondi used to work for Sony London.
Will this game also being on Xbox, make me enjoy it less? No.
Organic_Shadow @ Sep 19th 2008 8:58PM
Even if the game quality is compromised due to 360's lower disc capacity?
The fact is that this game was started and aimed as being a PS3-only title, so switching it to multiplat this late in the game could hurt the quality. I would rather they release it on PS3 then do a 360 release later on like Bioshock PS3. That way they can compress or dumb-down the game after the fact instead of making the PS3 version suffer.
juan bossa @ Sep 19th 2008 10:51PM

Err... you do know that Team Bondi is based in Australia right?
It's a reference to Bondi Beach in Sydney.

If it does go on the 360 it better be multi disc or that huge budget they are shouting about will be pretty wasted.
I wish M$ would drop that policy were developers have to pay for each disc they game takes, mabey more devs will be willing to go multi disc then.
MakaiOokami @ Sep 20th 2008 3:50AM
WTF they charge for multidisk games? OMG are you serious? I have to research that.
Hyams @ Sep 19th 2008 7:29PM
Does anyone actually care? I haven't even heard about this game. (Or, if I have, I've forgetten about it since it was announced.)
Carlton @ Sep 20th 2008 8:00AM
I care. It's refreshing to see money invested in a game that takes place in the real world without a hackneyed military or sci-fi theme.
Jake @ Sep 19th 2008 7:50PM
as long as it doesn't limit the ps3 version or in anyway harm it i'm ok with it

trust me my friends, our PS3's are being held back because of another system (not gonna mention names :), but don't worry because Sony will make sure that it's heavy hitters , GT5, GOW3, and others will take FULL advantage of your PS3..... you know it feels good knowing that their are some good games coming to your system unlike our friend who's named after "full rotation" :)
Arnon @ Sep 19th 2008 8:46PM
Lol wtf
HardBoiled @ Sep 19th 2008 8:57PM
i dunno why but i never showed interest in this title .. even if it was a PS3 exclusive ... MS probably threw Millions in their Direction so their users can have it too .. which also may mean .. it could be a watered down version of what might have been bigger if it was just for PS3.. jeeze another game unreleased yet was like this that made me not wanna buy their games anymore .. who was that .. oh yea SuckEnix's Final Fantasy XII.
But hey i could be wrong ... but i doubt it since their most likely to be both the same game with the same experience. I just HATE IT when a exclusive for PS3 is announced then some how magicly a company little later on says SIKE ! it's for 360 TOO ! and have one big laugh over it. hahaha that's kinda funny when i read that back to my self .. anyways .. it wouldn't stop me from buying if it was a game i want but i'm just throwing my thought's out their
frankym @ Sep 19th 2008 9:04PM
Mutliplatform make sense if it is so expensive. However, although this game is published by Rockstar, this is not the exclusive that Rockstar is developing for PS3. Jack Tretton confirmed the exclusive was NOT LA Noire. Hopefully we will find out soon enough.

which company makes LA noire ? Cause i thought this was game sony payed for.
TONY @ Sep 19th 2008 10:36PM
they did put a lot of money into it at 1st, but i think they pulled out after some time once the cost started to raise. i bet if anything SONY might get this 1st as a timed exclusive being they did put all that money into it

test test? hellooooooo stupid comment system
PC-Max @ Sep 19th 2008 9:26PM
My understanding was Sony was solely funding the game for a number of years now. So does this mean Sony no longer saw it worth while funding it? And there for others invested for its completion?
Then again... who cares. Its just another GTA that takes place in the 40's.
Give me LBP and Killzone 2.
Kspraydad @ Sep 19th 2008 9:57PM
Harrison dropped it.

schittymofo8225 @ Sep 19th 2008 10:21PM
I dont see a problem with thisx being multi platform./ Games made on PS3 then ported to Xbox have better game quality. Releasing it multiplatform will only help the company recoupe the money they put into the game. Id rather have games go multiplat than companies going under because the cost of development was to much for them to be able to recoupe.
skate @ Sep 19th 2008 11:52PM
No, this is old news, LA noire was thought to maybe be exclusive but it wasn't, Rockstar games has an exclusive ps3 prject and everyone for some reason though this was it.

You know what? I'm tired of the PS3 losing exclusives.
After Resistance, LBP, SOCOM, Drakes 2, I think i'll sell my 60 GB PS3 and be done with console games. If there's not going to be any exclusivity then i'm not going to waste any more money on bullshit systems which have the same games anyway
I own all three consoles and have sold the Xbox and Wii, PS3 I was holding on to because it was the only system with any decent games on it. Halo 3 will be on PC, GoW2 won't be on PC but i'm sure a year later it'll lose its exclusivity just like the first, and Fable 2 has as much appeal to me as the shovel-mario-ware on the Wii.
You pick a "side" because that particular console has games you want, but if everything is multiplatform then why own any console.
I've been patient enough and I was really exciting for L.A. Noire to prove to me, "Hey PS3 has some good games on it! You didn't waste your money"
Ugh. Back to PC gaming for me then. :/
Jonah Falcon @ Sep 20th 2008 12:52PM
If it's that expensive, that may be why it's going multiplatform. Need $$$.
nathan @ Sep 20th 2008 3:43PM
You know, I hate when people measure the future success of something by saying how much it costs. its like "we're really trying" while simultaneously producing B rate stuff.
Its like when you buy expensive wine that is disgusting compared to a 5 dollar bottle, Or some fancy triple colored exotic $500 dollar fish instead of a goldfish. Maybe it'll be a good game, that would be cool, but it being expensive for them to make sounds sort've like "we tried" to me.
JaseH @ Sep 20th 2008 5:30PM
I don't get all of this "Platform" confusion...
Team Bondi's president previously meantioned that...
"The project is wholly funded by Sony Computer Entertainment America. We have a long-term exclusive arrangement with SCEA."
So why the hell would a Sony funded game get this much confusion... over which console it's rolling up on?
I just don't get it. I'd have thought the already PS3 confirmed release, which was re-confirmed numerous times in the past, would have been an indication of what was really to come.
Maybe Sony are thinking twice?

Sony dropped the game Brendan McNamara, Team Bondi's president couldn't stand Phil Harrison. Take 2 then picked up the game and considering the budget involved probably insisted on 360 and PC versions.
