WRUP: What are you playing?

It's been a popular feature on other Joystiq network blogs, so we decided that we'll finally jump in. WRUP is short for "What are you playing?" Every week, your PS Fanboy writers will tell you what they plan on playing over the weekend. You can let us know what you're playing too in the comments section.

Alan Tsang - I am playing The Last Guy and Jeopardy!. By the way, Jeopardy! is a lot more fun when you have five of your friends helping you out. And for some odd reason, I am replaying the original Deus Ex on PC. Other than the outdated graphics, the game is as delicious as ever.
Andrew Yoon - I've been playing a lot of WipEout HD. The problem is: once the game officially comes out next week, I'll have to unlock all the Trophies all over again. Agh! Many people know I'm a total Trophy whore, so yes I am playing Mainichi Issyo. (Watching the episodes unlocks items for you to use in your room. For example, I just got an awesome Metal Gear-themed cat robot poster.) I'm also going to have to brush up on my Buzz! Quiz TV skills -- there's a SCEA-sponsored contest coming up, and I want to destroy the other journalists that are playing.
Jem Alexander - No doubt I'll be playing some more Buzz! Quiz TV, trying to get my hand on the rest of the Trophies (just recently got "Lonesome and Loving It Gold" -- I'm so proud). Call of Duty 4 arrived today, so I'll finally get to see what all the fuss is about. Other than that I'll be plodding through to the end of both Spore on my Mac and Final Fantasy Tactics A2 on DS. Of course, I'll also be watching lots of telly thanks to PlayTV.
Majed Athab - I find it really sad that I'll be playing nothing but Jeopardy! this weekend. The backlog is empty ... but maybe I'll replay Resident Evil 2 for the millionth time -- which I downloaded off the Japanese PS Store (it's nearly entirely in English, folks). I might pick up Armored Core: for Answer to save me from the Trebek-less questioning over the weekend. Maybe.

"Call of Duty 4 arrived today, so I'll finally get to see what all the fuss is about" - Welcome to the rest of your life. Unless of course you aren't a fan of FPS, or modern combat. Provided you like both, this is a great weekend to get things started, seeing how it's Double XP.

COD4 was crazy fun for the first 2 months. After MGS4 arrived I haven't played it once.

Now I'm all about Warhawk. The jet packs add a whole new dimension to the game, tons of fun.

MGS4 is an amazing game and Act 3 never ceases to amaze me. It's by far my favourite Act, as well as Act 5 coming in at second. I just finished my third playthrough yesterday night (by the way, I got the Big Boss Emblem on my second playthrough!) and my 11 year old little sister's been watching me play one Act each day. She surprisingly understands most of the story such as the presence of nanomachines in the soldiers' bodies, how Liquid is Ocelot and vice-versa and to somewhat minute things like how she knows in advance that the codec call after you beat a boss is Drebin. She can also pinpoint and recognize the characters from the first Metal Gear Solid like Roy Campbell, Naomi, Meryl, Liquid and Otacon. Overall, I think she has a somewhat good grasp of the MGS4 story and she enjoys playing in the Virtual Range as well as the jaw-dropping cutscenes.

Oh I dunno.. maybe a little bit of Final Fantasy XI

Infinite Undiscovery is SO BAD! Thats probably gonna get traded in for some PS3 game worth my time. Maybe disgaea 3.

I'd like to play a little Warhawk this weekend. I also have a couple blu rays sitting in my mail box for when I get home.

Don't be fooled by Disgaea 3! I was very underwhelmed. The gameplay itself is deeper and I like a lot of the additions and changes, but something is missing... it does not have the Disgaea magic of the first two, and it's a shame.

I'm currently frustrated with (and addicted to) Pixel Junk Eden. Need ... more ... trophies. I'm also playing a lot of Wipeout: Pulse to prepare my reflexes and trophy hunting skills for Wipeout HD (WOOHOO!!).

I just got Spore couple weeks ago and NHL 09 this week, and Spore has nothing on NHL 09. I'm completely hooked on it. Playing as a goalie is intense and a lot of fun!

that game makes me wanna take a blade too it ... cause it's really frusterating me i keep getting my butt Whooped in this one specific spot and i'm not that far in the game ... you know where the demo takes you too ... yea .. that's where i am !

I'll be playing the Socom beta this weekend since the patch came out yesterday. Also some COD4 since this is double XP weekend. I'll be playing some NBA2k8 to get ready for 2k9 in a few weeks.

I made the mistake of buying GTAIV and COD4 in the same week. Now, unfortunately for GTA, it's a warm up session with Pixeljunk Monsters (addicted and I can't stop), followed by COD4 for hours.

Just downloaded Portal The Flash Mappack and bought S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky. So not alot of time to play PS3 games this week. But with WipEout HD coming out on Thursday next weekend will be spend with my TV, PS3 and a few beers.

Finishing Lair, Heavenly Sword, and Genji. I love all three games though I'm annoyed at Genji's lack of camera control. And by the way, I'm using Lair's Sixaxis controls. They work great and the game is epic.

Back to Uncharted to get the trophies after that.

Ill be playing SOCOM BETA of course, especially with the new update- thanks. Then Ill be playing PURE thanks to gamefly. In between Ill stick some COD4 , since i almost cleared all my golden weapons. btw - Im so pissed that japan gets RE2 and we dont.

With the onslaught of games coming out I'm trying to hold off on buying any games before October. I'm playing Pain and Warhawk a little and trying to (finally) finish Half-life 2, Eps. 2. I'm thinking of ponying up the $18 for the Metallica tracks on GH3.

I'm also trying to scratch another game off my list of shame by renting Beyond Good and Evil from Gamefly. If it ever gets here (they're a lot slower than Netflix).
