Valkyria Chronicles coming to San Francisco this Friday
Although the game doesn't officially release until November, Sega is throwing a Valkyria Chronicles party in San Francisco's Metreon store. The venue, made famous for its real-world PlayStation Store, will be host to Sega producer Ryutaro Nonaka. An exclusive community Q&A will be held at the store, and signed posters will be given away at the event. You could win a free PS3, so if you're in the neighborhood, you may want to consider attending.
Where: The Sony Metreon, 101 4th Street, San Francisco, CA
When: 5 - 9 PM Pacific, Friday, Sept 26th

The boxart looks really nice, however i saw one of the trailers and the game didn't look very interesting to me.

I've been looking forward to this game. At the moment I have none of the 3rd gen console systems - being an exclusive RPG player none of the games thus far have excited me that a PS3 or XBox360 purchase was necessary. But with the upcoming release of Eternal Sonata (with bonus content), Disgaea 3, and Valkyria Chronicles (yay for what seems like a convincing female lead in a gritty war-strategy-rpg game!), I'll probably get the PS3 this Christmas =). Too bad about Tales of Vesperia but since it doesn't support Japanese voice over I'll have to go with Valkyria Chronicles, being a third-year student of Japanese hehe.

Is it Val - Ka - Ree -ah
or
Val-Kee-Rye-ah
or
Val-Kee-Ree-ah
Anyone?
dip @ Sep 21st 2008 6:01PM
I believe it would be pronounced Val-kir-ree-ah but don't quote me on that.
And hey, Kspraydad, don't you post at Kotaku?
Archon @ Sep 21st 2008 2:32PM
Val-Kee-Ree-ah
I'm positive.
lorddshadow @ Sep 21st 2008 4:42PM

Alexiel @ Sep 21st 2008 1:47PM

Emophia @ Sep 21st 2008 3:35PM

If so, it looks freaking awesome.
Gambit07 @ Sep 21st 2008 4:35PM
Will be purchased, for those that attend, can you guys get the word if Trophies will be added, thanks!
Joe H @ Sep 21st 2008 4:41PM
Do you, oh PS3fanboy, know if a demo is coming out for this g-unit?
Joe H @ Sep 21st 2008 4:45PM
sorry, did it twice
Joe H @ Sep 21st 2008 4:42PM
do you, oh PS3Fanboy, know if and/or when this demo is hitting our majestic shores?
Gordon Y @ Sep 21st 2008 6:35PM
YESS!!
I've been waiting for something like this. Since I live near San Francisco I can actually go to this one, but I'm still mad that I missed the MGS4 Launch Event since I didn't hear about it til the day after ><
So...who else is going to be there?
Warner Young @ Sep 26th 2008 8:22PM
Hoping I'll manage to get there by 7 or so. Coming up from the south bay, though, so it'll depend on traffic.
I'll try to ask about a demo and trophies if no one has already done so.
Kabapu @ Sep 22nd 2008 9:40PM
I live in SF ... but I work until 6:30 ...
Warner Young @ Sep 27th 2008 3:13AM
Sorry if this ends up a duplicate, but my original post doesn't seem to be showing up.
I got there late due to traffic, but I did ask one of the Sega staff about a demo and trophies:
1) Demo on Oct 9th.
2) No trophies yet, they're still thinking about it. That sounds to me like, if they do have it, it'll have to be in a patch.
Warner Young @ Sep 29th 2008 1:10AM
Okay, I got there kind of late due to traffic (missed out on the raffle for the large print art), but I was able to ask the Sega staff some questions.
1) Demo will be out Oct 9th.
2) Trophy support is still TBD. It sounds like they haven't decided yet, so I assume if they do have it, it'll have to be added with a later patch, since they're so close to shipping.
3) No multiplayer, though the guy we talked to agreed that would be cool.
Just about everyone who wanted an autographed game cover got one, which was cool. Unfortunately, my camera is busted so I wasn't able to take pictures.
