Unfortunately, we're starting Monday morning off with some slightly disheartening news. It has been revealed by the
LittleBigPlanet community manager on the
official US forums that four-player online co-op in the Create will not be available at the launch of the game. Instead it will be added in the "first major update after the game is released. Obviously there's no indication of when we'll be seeing that first update, but apparently Media Molecule is now hard at work on post-launch content, with emphasis squarely on four-player online creation.
You'll still be able to create levels with three of your buddies at launch, they just have to be in the same room as you. Four-player online co-op will obviously be available out of the box too. There's still plenty to do (and be excited for) in the game, which should keep us busy until Media Molecule release the online Create patch.

so we can still do 3???
thats not that bad....
hell I dont even know if I will be able to trust 3 other people to not fuck up a level I'm making.....
but then again, I wonder if we could ALL get the Heart & other Creator trophies off of co-op making of levels.......
you guys should find that out.......it would be cool if 4 people could work on a level and all four of them reap the benefits from it(trophies)

The basic premise of making a level online with 3 others is complementary.
The worst player tests to see if the obstacle is passable, the most creative player is working on ideas while the the best player fine tunes the creative ideas, while the person with no real shortcomings or abilities decorates so everything can look pretty...
That's just an example of how it would work. You would have planned everything out ahead of time on who would be assigned to what and discussion takes place amidst the work.
I'm glad online creating isn't coming out right away. There will be too many people that will jump into the online right away on that aspect without even a firm understanding of the offline creative process. This makes it to where people are limited therefore they can be broadened once they start to gain an understanding of the underlying process.
In short, because of this delay, less games will be being made by chickens with their heads cut off en masse'

Maki you've earned MVP comment of this thread!! Well said!! I think this game regardless if this feature comes out later will still be awesome!! I think your idea of how the job descriptions will be divided up amongst the 3 is awesome!! When the game comes out add me and we'll get to making!!

@Makai.....yea I agree with that......
HOPEFULLY that is how MOST people will do things......
that will make for better created level...
but didt they say that 4 player creation online was gonna be added later and 3 player was already good to go?? so there will be SOME form of online creation just not 4 people @ a time.......
Charlie @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:33AM
I think theres 4 player create offline but no create mode at all online at launch, unless I misunderstood it.
Chris @ Sep 22nd 2008 8:24AM
No sweat. Wait, I mean OMG $onY AER FAIL ARRGHH!!!!!!!!!!! Oh i'm not in the forums nevermind...
Vincent @ Sep 22nd 2008 8:27AM
Why did Jem post this and not Yoon? lol
That's too bad, but well, I think I would be making my levels mostly offline either way. And it's coming later, so that's not a deal breaker at all.
JoeTheBlow @ Sep 22nd 2008 8:42AM
No biggie.
Its hard for me to imagine a situation where i could create a level from scratch with 3 strangers/friends, and co-ordinate things so perfectly that it doesn't result in a complete mess or disaster.
Sounds like more of a play mode anyway, i'd prefer to create my own masterpieces without some other muppets getting in my way.
bigredend @ Sep 22nd 2008 9:21AM
That's no big problem, at least we will get to play the game soon .....Finally
1664 @ Sep 22nd 2008 9:59AM
as long as the patch is free its all gravy, im not sure i want to make my levels with others anyways lol
Charlie @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:10AM
I'm still desperate for this game but this was the first reasonably bad news I had, at first I was annoyed but after reading everyones points about it I am seeing the benefits of it.
Online create would probably be the way I will create most of my levels as a majority of the people in my Dorm aren't creative or inventive. Online is where all my creative friends are.
mangodick @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:31AM
the astronaut sackboy looks sexy, I want him for dinner.
j.howlett @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:44AM
as long as the main game is there i can work solo to create and hone my skills
deaftly @ Sep 22nd 2008 12:36PM
That update will more then likely not be free, Sony is going to milk this baby for all its worth.
Averna @ Sep 22nd 2008 8:11PM
I doubt they will charge for it. Sony wouldnt risk the backlash for making Mm charge for something that was meant to be in game at launch.
I think Son yare more than happy to milk the console sales this release will net them along with the x million game copies sold.
PC-Max @ Sep 22nd 2008 1:36PM
Hey, I can wait for that but come on people!!! I want to know where Nariko is being offered as pre-order bonus up here in Canada. Don't care about Kratos, give us Nariko and where.
OTher than that, the Astro-boy for LBP looks great, well, in a cute cuddly way I suppose.
KiraXD @ Sep 22nd 2008 2:28PM
wow so it takes 4 people to come up with creativity now?
last i checked i can create my own ideas.... on my own.
no doubt the absence of this will be kinda crappy untill they add it (for free... im positive)
however this is still a full experience and will still be amazing.
Windmill @ Sep 22nd 2008 4:40PM
I didn't even realise this was a feature- no loss for me!
dave @ Sep 22nd 2008 9:30PM
Not an issue for me. I prefer to have the multiplayer create feature later on anyway. Initially, I'll be too busy playing the game, figuring out how create mode works, and then creating a few single player levels.
I'm sure that MM will release the first patch by the end of the year, which is plenty of time. Hopefully they can get water in there as well.
