Zelda theme played during Malaysian PS3 launch

In case you guys didn't know, Sony just launched the PS3 in the Southeastern Asian country of Malaysia this past weekend. Ah, but that's not even the intriguing part of this story. When managing director of Sony Malaysia Naoi Sudo ascended onto the stage, a rather familiar tune began to play. No, it couldn't be!
Oh, but yes it is! The iconic theme song that every video game player should know -- the theme to the Zelda games by Nintendo, can clearly be heard. We have no idea how this happened, perhaps the sound person had a hard night of partying beforehand. This isn't exactly the end of the world for Sony, but it certainly is humiliating for the company that a Youtube user managed to capture the moment in a grainy video, which is available for you right after the jump.

Who cares..
ryan @ Sep 23rd 2008 4:13PM
maybe people willing to comment on an odd/humorous spectacle perhaps?
Evi1d33d @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:16PM
Hinting that Nintendo and Sony will be joining forces against Microsoft?
Probably not but maybe who ever made the tune took some influence from Zelda songs.
And what's up with all the cliche "after the jump/break" crap?
ryan @ Sep 23rd 2008 4:05PM
it's not cliche. it's a technique used to break up content so you don't clutter the front page with columns and multiple video links.
the result: more articles fitting on one page...but more on that after the jump!
Sam Wells @ Sep 23rd 2008 8:43PM
I think Evildeed was referring to the fact the phrase used is a cliche, not why its being said in the first place..
ryan @ Sep 25th 2008 1:09PM
would you like he said "you can watch the clip after you hit the link". such a stupid thing to call a cliche, that's like saying "breaking news" or "this just in". there is a jump, or break between what you see on the page on what you get after that break.

What are those malaysian semi-naked girls actually doing? @__@
chris @ Sep 23rd 2008 3:31PM

- EDIT -
Let me try and put some more context into the event. The launch event was using Soul Calibur 4 as the headlining launch game, so there was a whole SC4 theme going around the event.
So it's very likely what everyone thinks is the Zelda tune from SC2 is correct, but still.. shouldn't have picked it in the first place.
bakurako (1 hour ago)
that is just one of the songs from SC4, just because it sounds simular doesn't make it the same song.
CJLopez @ Sep 23rd 2008 3:37PM
JAJAJAJA; LAWL, OMG!!!! Trying to to justify themselves, that lame and low!!!!
I mean, ok, there was a Soul Calibur 2 were link featured on, and it has Zelda songs, ok, but come on, it was on GameCube, there's still no reason for this to happen, and there is no SC4 song that sounds SOOOOO similar to Zelda Theme, i have the soundtrack of the Game (bought the SE)

I KNEW sony had something up their sleeve....
the after the break is so they get more page views and ad views.
xtole @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:02PM
Bleh, industry noob. Dont trust him!
JerJerBinks @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:09PM
This is not news.
ryan @ Sep 23rd 2008 4:09PM
your right.
it's just posted here to piss you off.
JerJerBinks @ Sep 23rd 2008 4:30PM
@ ryan
Then it is a complete delivery of fail because it failed to piss me off. Cant they do anything right?
ryan @ Sep 23rd 2008 6:29PM
well, they succeeded in getting some pointless comments out of you. :/
JerJerBinks @ Sep 23rd 2008 6:30PM
If that's the bar they are aiming for, then they might want to rethink this whole blogging thing.
ryan @ Sep 25th 2008 1:10PM
or you could just rethink your comments and decide to add to the article instead of well, pointless comments.
JerJerBinks @ Sep 25th 2008 1:13PM
I have a better idea, how about they post articles worthy of constructive comments? This article was filler, and available on other websites for days ahead of the posting on PS3Fanboy.
ryan @ Sep 25th 2008 1:20PM
and not everyone visits those sites. this pertained to the PS3 and they decided it was a fun oddity to share.
ryan @ Sep 25th 2008 1:28PM
to recap: your comments brought nothing to the table while this article at least brought some humor/head scratching to those that haven't seen it on another site. just something to consider in the future is all i'm saying.
ryan @ Sep 23rd 2008 4:09PM
man, i'd kill to see a next gen Zelda game on PS3/360.
CJLopez @ Sep 23rd 2008 5:46PM
We'll have to wait for the next nintendo console for this to happen
leonus11 @ Sep 23rd 2008 9:09PM
