SOCOM confronts Japanese players in new trailer

Are Japanese players even interested in the very-Western SOCOM franchise? We're not entirely too sure, but this new trailer released for the Japanese market will try to attract players to the 32-player online fragfest. Thankfully, video footage of the game can be understood in any language. Chances are, though, if you're one of the many that are eagerly anticipating the game -- you're already in the beta.

I may buy this just for the head set, its great and all but theirs alot of stuff coming out in the same time. its a great MP only game. but we'll see how good never played any socom games before GRAW only

will this be 60 frames per sec? it's cool how you have multiple objectives, i just wish it were just a bit smoother. i can understand tho, 32 players with 60fps is asking alot.

Impressions are fantastic. Taking into account it's a beta and was initially VERY laggy, they've ironed out a ot of the problems and it now runs very well. I'm an old school SOCOM player and am always a bit nervous when a new version comes out, especially from a different developer but I have to say, it feels quite different and quite similar in a very good way. There are still a few kinks to be ironed out in the gameplay but the customization is very nice, the proximity mic's are a great feature and all in all it looks like it's going to be a strong member of the franchise.

Thanks Simon, I'm leaning towards getting this and not just as a "buy for headset" purchase. My experience with the Socom series online hasn't been the best, considering it was on the not ready for primetime online ps2-but to me the single player experience always shined, especially the music. I have more faith in Sony this time around because Warhawk turned out pretty damn good. Speaking of, I've got to get the updates and expansions to that game.

Just a side note based on your reply. You're probably already aware of this but this one is online only, so no single player missions unfortunately. I liked those too!

yeah you can customize everything on your character for both teams. and I think the game runs at 30fps.(dont quote me on that)

and to those of you just buying this for the head set. your gonna be getting an amazing game with it!

the best shooter on PS2 becomes the best shooter on PS3.
