Somebody beat me to it!!!! Darn!
Devil240Z @ Sep 26th 2008 1:21PM
umm if you want to give it a try I imagine that you will still be in the running for best mario 1-1... This one is not winning any awards.
Kxpuc @ Sep 26th 2008 12:17PM
there's a more detailed Super Mario one of the tunnel level
also one of 1-1 but not done to scale/looks but more complex
Sonny @ Sep 26th 2008 12:19PM
I remember playing this yesterday....
Akisame @ Sep 26th 2008 12:32PM
OMG, that is so bad!
TuxBobble @ Sep 26th 2008 12:36PM
Yea, it's a little on the sad side, but I'm sure it'll get better. I can't wait for v2.0!
TuxBobble @ Sep 26th 2008 12:38PM
The thing that bothered me most about the VIDEO was that he kept jumping to hit the ? blocks.
The realistic physics of LBP just doesn't work for a game like this, as well as the original.
krycek76 @ Sep 26th 2008 12:39PM
I wonder if it is possible to recreate the original Metroid in its entirety on this game or if that would be too much.
Averna @ Sep 26th 2008 8:37PM
I think its a big too large. I wanted to do 1-1 of Kid Icarus but we'll see how that goes.
exetermako @ Sep 26th 2008 12:42PM
They really need (or at least I want them to) add a speed adjuster to the level creator. This level looks great and a lot of work obviously went into it, but it was speed up 200%, maybe more, it would also FEEL like Super Mario instead of just kinda looking like it.
zyxwiley @ Sep 26th 2008 1:23PM
I agree to an extent. I think the issue is gravity more than speed. It's way too float-y.
jarhead906 @ Sep 26th 2008 12:43PM
Yeah that sucks even for just recently getting the beta. It would have taken him/her like one minute more to make things better.
For instance the pipes are stupid, they extend into all three planes of view. Question blocks are retarded looking and I don't know about sound for the blocks, but I'm sure down the road someone will get the actual recording and put it in.
KiraXD @ Sep 26th 2008 2:14PM
the need to extend into 3 planes in order to recreate 2D style obstacles.
i would have made them out of metal material and used a green sticker. or even made them open and have a grab switch to make it possible to go to the under levels..
i played this level last night, and was pretty crappy (sorry whoever made it... it was rushed though.)
Gabberillion @ Sep 26th 2008 12:43PM
I wonder how many classic first stages will be recreated?
The Stage is a little uneven, can't wait to see an improvement!
Ratchet8clank @ Sep 26th 2008 12:51PM
hehe when i get LBP i have an amazing idea of 'ehem' recreating a side scroller from the past.
krycek76 @ Sep 26th 2008 1:52PM
noooo, I don't want to relive Karate Kid again...
Charlie @ Sep 26th 2008 1:07PM
that made me want to throw something through a window xD.
HAAS599 @ Sep 26th 2008 1:13PM
with the depth of the levels, you could also recreate some of the new paper mario levels.
Iain @ Sep 26th 2008 1:13PM
Can you not grab onto an edge of a ledge?
Videos like this don't show this game off good.... where's the imagination.
black_ryuk @ Sep 26th 2008 1:17PM
even though it was expected i still gotta say wow...
drdre74 @ Sep 26th 2008 1:28PM
that level wasnt that great to me. It needs some more time put into it. it's on the right track though.
ryan @ Sep 26th 2008 1:29PM
so can these levels go forwards also instead of going just left to right?
deaftly @ Sep 26th 2008 1:40PM
Jumping is WAY too floaty
ryan @ Sep 26th 2008 1:44PM
yes, i hope you can fix that in some option menu. i mean it's called LBP, you'd think you could manipulate the gravitational pull within your own planet.
Alexandra_3259 @ Sep 26th 2008 1:42PM
True talent.
ryan @ Sep 26th 2008 1:46PM
more like replication.
ryan @ Sep 26th 2008 1:42PM
also can we see a Green Hill zone1-1, Contra level 1, Norfair, perhaps maybe a little Symphony of the Night and some Super Ghouls and Ghost action or any other nostalgic throw up?
i know this is just early beta test work, but i really hope we won't see alot of these on the network. i'm no game artist, but i look forward to some awesome work within the few months after LBP hits.
Gambit07 @ Sep 26th 2008 1:47PM
I like the creepy Goombas.
SnazzyD @ Sep 26th 2008 2:13PM
Yes, by all means let's stick with the super-rigid-realism of Mario's physics. It may look floaty, but it's actually a lot more realistic than in most games.
I would love a gravity meter so as to make some low-grav space levels, but I would consider that a bonus down the road and not a detriment to the current game...
Devin @ Sep 26th 2008 2:16PM
What can't they do with LBP? For as much as you do already.....I bet it will be implemented down the road if it isn't when it debuts....
SnazzyD @ Sep 26th 2008 2:21PM
Don't judge the game by a sample level created by a beta newbie 24 hours in. There will be thousands of Mario levels created and some of them will be aces. Since the cream always rises to the top, you will never EVER come across something like this once everything is running.
Devin @ Sep 26th 2008 2:15PM
Very true. And like SnazzyD said, it's a BETA with an "older build" than the private beta.
Vince UK @ Sep 26th 2008 3:37PM
I think people should ditch trying to recreate levels unless it adds something or improves the original, this Mario level publicity is hurting LBP if anything, it's old hat.
OddyOh @ Sep 26th 2008 2:45PM
Hmm...it's just not Mario without the music! Even any music would be good!
SaMav @ Sep 26th 2008 3:46PM
Very true.
Angelo @ Sep 26th 2008 5:29PM
Totally agree SaMav, I've been thinking this for a little while now.
Angelo @ Sep 26th 2008 5:36PM
ummm...I was referring to your comment that recreating these levels is old hat.
MacMobile @ Sep 26th 2008 3:21PM
I attempted to make the first level of Super Mario World and its pretty tough imma need a couple more days or so to even be close to thinking about releasing it
PC-Max @ Sep 26th 2008 7:36PM
Nariko is the Future Shops pre-order freebie here in canada. Just checked it out at the web site. Mind people have it on the their store shelves but could not tell me officially if it was. But it says it on the web site.
elephant_stone @ Sep 29th 2008 1:08AM
I was going to do this but then again I think every F**ker was haha.
Anyway...a word of warning to everyone in the beta (and future purchasers):
After creating some massive and ace levels, which I spent days building...I put my PS3 into stand by mode as normal, whilst the game was just starting up (i.e. the Playstation 3 logo had just dissapeared) and when I went back into the game the next day half of my stickers, items and all of my levels would not work (they had a red exclamation mark over then)...I think what has happened is the save data has been currupted due to the power loss whilst writing to disk.
So the moral of the story is heed the messages that every PS3 game says: "do not turn the power off whilst *this* item is showing"...bahhhhhhhhhhhh!
:'(
:@
>:(
pffft
Xis @ Sep 29th 2008 1:10AM
Gotta give the dude some cred hey this is the first mario level to hit the media with a beta LBP I'm sure we all can make a better one but this is a work in progress I'm thinkin about a crappy Megaman level or a anti 360 level or RROD level you'll see what I mean...
