Greetings To Sunflower Sunflower is an old group that brought new trends to the demoscene in the beginning of accelerated era. Their demos seem to not suffer from time. This is due to their abstract style and very sophisticated music. The group was formed from very experienced sceners and project "Sunflower" survived for only two years (1999-2001). We all hope that they will make a massive comeback. Hidden |

Greetings To Farbrausch Farbrausch is a demogroup famous for using procedural techniques for creating textures, scenes, and animations in their productions. "Werkzeug" which is their demotool, successfully started a new era of tools, separating coders from artists, thus speeding up production process. Together with "Werkzeug" came V2, a high-quality software synthesizer that was already adopted by other groups respecting its values. Farbrausch is mostly known for "Candytron", "The produkkt", "The Popular Demo" and recently released "Debris". Hidden |

SoupaNova @ Sep 26th 2008 9:16AM
WTF is right...
*first*
DeathroW @ Sep 26th 2008 9:16AM
I think sony have just overcooked this whole "Wacky and unique games" thing with this title..
Averna @ Sep 26th 2008 8:28PM
We dont even know THAT yet, lol.
SoupaNova @ Sep 26th 2008 9:17AM
damn... not first...
Ruiner @ Sep 26th 2008 1:25PM
You don't need to tell us when you're first. Its obvious.
Kodros @ Sep 26th 2008 2:32PM
Telling us when you're not first is also obvious.

I got the joke, and I liked it. Vote++

I understand all of those words, but they make no sense in the particular order in which they are presented....
WTF is right...
Thommy Capone @ Sep 26th 2008 9:27AM
This is SO cool. The old AMIGA scene shall probably never die.
Echnaton @ Sep 26th 2008 10:29AM
The reminds me of Fairlight, Razor 1911, Tri Star & Red Sector and all the other "big" names :-) funny time back in 88-92 ;-)

This bit i understand, theyre an indie devteam who managed to fit an entire FPS game into 96KB, god knows how they did it, but its mysterious and impressive as all hell, it seems like the bronze trophy is merely crediting their work, so im thinking maybe reading the credits and reading about said companies, youll unlock the trophy..
Just my two cents anyways.. If you want more info about that company above or the FPS game google search "kkrieger"
Happy hunting!!
Devin @ Sep 26th 2008 2:21PM
Yeah. My friend showed me the game and it looks really really really really really good for only being 96k. It's ridiculous they could make a game like that in such little of space. I haven't checked back to see if the game has had any updates/additions/revisions/etc.
Crazy trophy though.
Sean @ Sep 26th 2008 9:26AM
Oh yeah, "Candytron" mentioned above... check it out... its fascinatingly weird...
heypaul @ Sep 26th 2008 9:31AM
When is this game supposed to come out? I remember a couple of month or so ago, it was mentioned that it was supposed to be released on the Euro PSN the following Thursday. It never showed up and we never spoke of it again. Any word on a new release date?
Tuffcub @ Sep 26th 2008 9:59AM
Oi, PS3Fanboy - Linger In Shadows didn't come out in August - it's not been released. Fix yer previous news item!
karamo17 @ Sep 26th 2008 9:41AM
my brain hurts just for trying to understand that
Tarheel @ Sep 26th 2008 9:43AM
Weird. Usually the trophy descriptions I get here are the same sentence or two that are in the game. Are these actually the in-game descriptions? They're essays! The game could actually be good, but these guys seem a little full of themselves.
debaser @ Sep 26th 2008 9:45AM
anything with Haujobb has got my interest. i've been a fan for years
great little german industrial band
fwiw; haujobb = skin job, the term Decker uses to describe replicants in blade runner

i think they're just pulling our legs
Jonathan Coole @ Sep 26th 2008 9:52AM
idk, i just think its probably one of those things thats never released.
Superbean @ Sep 26th 2008 9:52AM
Wtf indeed. n correct me if im wrong but arent these descriptions supposed to tell you how to get the trophies?
lxicon @ Sep 26th 2008 10:08AM
ok, so this game is obviously more of an art piece than a game, but there will most likely be some interaction. it's interactive art.
my guess is that you'll have to navigate through the various levels. you get the bronze trophies for completing each level. the descriptions are about the people/groups that did each one.
the silver trophies are probably for discovering special moves or puzzle solutions within each level.
i'm looking forward to this game. it seems to be more about seeing and doing cool stuff rather than killing 100 guys or quick reflexes. :)
j.howlett @ Sep 26th 2008 10:16AM
i can kind of understand the first one but the rest seem like fond memories and shout outs
j.howlett @ Sep 26th 2008 10:22AM
the silver trophies make some sort of sense
I.AM.IRON.MAN @ Sep 26th 2008 10:26AM
O.
K.
err...
farfisa @ Sep 26th 2008 10:29AM
Seems pretty logical to me.
But I'll update you when the opium wears off.
Thommy Capone @ Sep 26th 2008 10:44AM
It does not really need to make sense: the demo-scene greets their friends in the most unusual ways imaginable. By creating trophy descriptions (and maybe there is a way to achieve them?) they can greet everyone they like/ admire/ whatever.
Thereby; afaik this is not going to be a game, but an 'interactive demo'.
I am really (REALLY!) looking forward to getting hold of this one...
Peter @ Sep 26th 2008 10:51AM
Has PS3Fanboy's pet philosopher escaped into the wild?
Vintsukka @ Sep 26th 2008 10:51AM
Wikipedia seems to have some info:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linger_in_Shadows
So apparently you have to navigate through the demo using the Sixaxis to reach new "levels" and find greetings for old demogroups. Now the descriptions make a lot more sense.
Also, the Wikipedia article says it will be out in October.
Sporia @ Sep 26th 2008 12:11PM
Haha! (WTF?) hahaha indeed , what the hell is this man xD, i want to know what drugs they are using for the mind to develop such things xDD
rd2000 @ Sep 26th 2008 11:24AM
Hehe I guess you have to have experienced the 80's and 90's demo scene to get a grip on this.
The kids today prolly don't have a clue what the demo scene is.
They prolly think it's a game demo ;)
Tom @ Sep 26th 2008 1:43PM
Well excuse me for not being morn in the 70s.
Bacwardz @ Sep 26th 2008 11:57AM
These are not trophies ^_^ not all of them at least-the "Greetings to..." ones aren't trophies. They're making some sort of homage.
Greetings to Fairlight is making a reference to http://www.fairlight.to/ (FairLight) a group developing for the Commodore 64.
Greetings to Farbrausch is making a reference to http://www.farb-rausch.com/ (Farb-rausch).
Greetings to The Black Lotus is making a reference to http://www.tbl.org/ (the black lotus).
Bacwardz @ Sep 26th 2008 11:58AM
The Greetings to Conspiracy is selfexplanatory .Find out more on their site : http://conspiracy.hu/
Same thing with greetings from RGBA : this is their site http://rgba.scenesp.org/
Bacwardz @ Sep 26th 2008 12:01PM
Anyway, you get the picture. These are all great demoscene groups. They make some pretty cool stuff (art ^_^).
I'll post the links to all the other groups I know from this "trophy" list. (BTW my gut feeling is telling me this is going to be the best PSN game ever ^_____^... all these groups make awesome stuff).
Andromeda software developement : http://www.asd.gr/
Madwizards http://www.pouet.net/groups.php?which=810 (it's not their official site, it's a site with their stuff for download...)
Mfx: their site http://mfx.scene.org/
I think the only real trophies are the "Sigil of..." ones.
Pip @ Sep 26th 2008 12:04PM
This is not a game, it's a demo from the demoscene. If you're still confused, go to scene.org and take a look around. Groups of programmers back in the day (Early 80s to present) used to code to the metal trying to outdo each other with graphics and sound presentations. Called demos. They would sync special effects to music. They played a huge part what 3D started to come around in the late 80s, early 90s. Some of these groups such as Fairlight, Razor 1911, Red Sector, Tristar, Def Jam, Spaceballs, etc were major players at the time.
In the demos, sceners used to put in greets to other groups, I'm going to guess that in this demo, it'll be interactive with hidden greets to others in the demoscene and if you unlock the greets, you'll get trophies for it.

Devil240Z @ Sep 26th 2008 1:27PM
Umm, WUT???
Thats pretty weird stuff. Even the most descriptive trophies dont seem to reveal anything about the gameplay.
guess we will have to play the old wait and see game for now.
rutehh8 @ Sep 26th 2008 2:20PM
looks like the artstyle from Shadow of the Colossus
Tez (PSN: Tezasaurus) @ Sep 26th 2008 1:51PM
The demoscene rocks. There is some incredible stuff out there and I really want to 'play' this. I was pissed when it didn't come out in August; I understand Sony not wanting to build up expectations or unneccessary hype for an obscure art project/tech demo, but I really want to know when this is coming out.
fiziks @ Sep 26th 2008 2:25PM
check out the youtube video "the black lotus - starstruck"
Popfrogs @ Sep 26th 2008 2:22PM
Let me break it down for you guys who don't understand the whole 'demoscene' thing.
For decades, programmers in Europe and a handful in the US have been wowing each other with coding challenges. They create little pieces of code that are referred to as "demos" which are designed to demonstrate creative, impressive, and/or efficient programming techniques. There are also musicians and artists that form groups with the programmers and work on pieces for these demos.
The groups all get together from time to time, usually regionally, and have parties where they show off their work to each other. Alot of them know each other personally as a result of attending these parties.
The demoscene has spanned many different architectures; some of the earliest and most impressive work was done on the Amiga 500 and Commodore 64. Currently the PC groups are the most popular and proficient for obvious reasons. Since the PC architecture is so open, rather than the limited hardware possibilities of the C64 and Amiga (which provided a real challenge), it has become popular to limit the size of code, hence the 4k and 64k parties and demos that result. Their goal is music, graphics and code demos that are a specific size _on disk_.
Since these guys meet up and party, they are inclined to send out "greets" to other groups or individuals in other groups that they are friends with. Nearly every demo ever made has had a greets page. It makes perfect sense that there are trophies for greets now that you understand the demoscene concept.
I personally think that it's incredibly progressive for Sony to shed a corporate light on the demoscene. They've effectively legitimized a nerdy hobby and the group that designed Linger in Shadows stands to make a few bucks. I could see this becoming a really, really cool trend if other groups participate.
I'm buying this day one, just on principle alone. I want Sony to know that this was a cool idea.
Mike @ Sep 26th 2008 2:50PM
You're just making those up - I'm sure of it.
Sigil of Octopus: eight legs squeeze the pufferfish until it pops revealing the peanut butter and jelly sandwich within.
See? I can make 'em up too!!
Seriously - wtf is this game about? Drugs?
hmmm @ Sep 28th 2008 2:54PM
maybe each company inspired a diffrent bit of the univrse, you get to the bit they inspired, you get theyre trophy, what i dont get is how the last trophy is light, by the description that should be game over since you got all the sigils (my guess a way of traveling and manipulating the world.) makes me think the gold were left out on purpose.
lorddshadow @ Sep 26th 2008 5:25PM
wow can anyone make any sense out of any of that?
mixelmagic @ Sep 27th 2008 7:36AM
As an Amiga old timer it's great to see a "game" (or interactive demo/art piece) giving props to all the demo scene groups.. This makes perfect sense..A bit of a funny way to do it, but at east it means people might read them, haha.
Just most of them don't tell you how to unlock them. XD
Stephen @ Sep 28th 2008 3:37PM
Doesn't this screen remind anyone else of Shadow of the Colossus? I mean look at it. And the title too, who's making this game?
john @ Oct 9th 2008 9:35AM
yep just downloaded it - 1.99 . theres the full film - then an option called Linger, which allows you to pause/reverse/record/move camera/take screen grab..and maybey a few other things.. after each event is unlocked it plays new sections that are'nt in the full film..
got three trophys from just messin around with it..
pesikos @ Oct 9th 2008 10:46AM
