Mirror's Edge cel-shaded story trailer
Download to PSP
Faith, our favorite skyscraper-hopping protagonist from Mirror's Edge, narrates her background story in this stylish trailer. The narrative feels a bit like the O-Ren Ishii anime sequence in Kill Bill while the visual style is a cross between cel-shading and what you see on Samurai Jack. Tell us what you guys think after you take a look. The game will be out November 11th and you can check out our hands-on impressions here.

I was a little wary when I heard that the game's cutscenes would all be animated in that style, but that trailer was very nicely done. Sure, the whole dystopian thing has been done before, but that's just the setting for what seems like a very original video game. I'm really looking forward to this one.

Wow this is a total rip-off of V for Vendetta there is a lot of the same stuff here.
B @ Sep 27th 2008 5:29PM
Wow, and V for Vendetta totally copied a movie from 5 years before, and that one copied another one from 2 years before that, and again 3 years before that, oh and I almost forgot about that one book 20 years before that.
Ideas get copied. Don't like it? Stop watching movies, reading books, listening to music, playing games, doing work, going to school, and breathing.

Ever read Nineteen Eighty-Four?
Go read the book, or quick version, the wikipedia. Then tell me what is ripping off what.

i'm still wondering why samurai jack got cancelled. it was one of the most epic (literally) cartoons of all time. *sigh*
anyways...that was pretty cool! can't wait to try this game out!
Deadpool @ Sep 27th 2008 5:31PM
I think they cancelled it when Mako Iwamatsu (Aku) died. Which is pretty sad because I thought Samurai Jack was the best action cartoon they ever made....well along with Swat Kats. That show was awesome to!
sicklesdawg @ Sep 27th 2008 5:37PM
Interesting Samurai Jack was chosen to close up the final airing of Toonami R.I.P

We know. It's just not mandatory because it only affects Japanese PS3s

the story reminds me of that haze trailer... never played the game but i hope they flesh out the story more than what i heard... this game would be great with flashbacks throughout
iamkid @ Sep 27th 2008 11:02PM
i like the look of the cell shading, but i still kinda prefer the 3d over it in this game.
and november 13th? what happened to the 11th?
Twinturbo120 @ Sep 28th 2008 3:53PM

I liked the video right up until the end. In those last few moments when she starts to leap all over the place, the art work looks really flat and static, instead of dynamic and full of life. Hopefully this was more of a preliminary video instead of a final product.

I felt the same way--it was so dark, and then the end reminded me a bit of Curious George ;)

this game has to do a lot with "parkour" (freestyle running), if you don't know what that is then check youtube.
