We feel sorry for the oft-misunderstood
SOCOM: Tactical Strike. Fans who bought the game were surprised to see it wasn't a shooter -- instead, it was a methodically paced strategy game which required patience, intelligence and nerves of steel. PSP Fanboy reader Jason
commented earlier: "I guess if you bought it without checking out any previews and thought it was an action shooter, then yeah, it could be a let down. If you play the first mission with the tutorial it shows you everything you need to know and it does it in a real game situation."
For those of you ready to take the plunge into the full game, check out this week's Best Buy circulars. You'll see that
Tactical Strike is on sale this week for a measly $20. Go to your local Best Buy, or simply buy
online. You can also check out the downloadable demo
here.

I absolutely adored the ridiculously large and criminally short demo of the game. I may try to pick it up now.

That really is a great deal. This is one of the most graphically advanced and deep games on the system. Multiplayer is a little laggy, but the single player has a lot of replay value.
Except Mission 6. Be prepared to get pissed off at that one. Or save yourself trouble and google tips for it.

Paid full price at release and do NOT regret it. I enjoyed it alot. Didn't necessarily care for FTB or FTB2... rented and beat those in a few hours. As long as you know what its like going in, it can be enjoyed. Tactic games are PERFECT for the PSP. Anywho... Pick this game up... NOW!

i agree. Tactical Strike can be a very enjoyable game, even though it didn't have many cutscenes and its missions are 30-45 minutes long (at least the later ones). Levels 6 and 8 really annoyed me because their was too many enemies shooting at you it was impossible to live. That's why the game is focused on stealth.
