Reader visits Orlando PS.blog meetup, gets free LBP code
PS Fanboy reader Josh attended last week's PlayStation.blog reader meet up in Orlando, Florida. There, the crowd got to enjoy some BBQ, WipEout, Buzz and the company of like-minded PlayStation fans. Most impressive: everyone that attended the meet up got a mysterious code ... which was later revealed to be a code to enter the LittleBigPlanet beta. Wow! What a nice surprise.

Awesome. Another missed opportunity at getting a code.
I think I may kill myself in the near future.

I want one!

Why dont they do anything like this in the UK? :(
Fade2blac @ Sep 29th 2008 7:41AM
Don't you guys have an actual physical LittleBigPlanet store over there? That's pretty sweet if you ask me!

Because as we all know, SCEE has literally gone insane.

It's not like 5000 codes were given to us a week ago, Right?
KarlW @ Sep 29th 2008 8:33AM
It's not like 5000 beta codes can satisfy the entire UK.
SCEE did do stuff like this. They did 3Rooms via ThreeSpeech. Event in a London pimp palace. I got a Warhawk press pack and a boatload of free beer and pizza from one of those.
They had a US-style massive fridge, packed with cans of Cobra. Was awesome.

Sorry i should have been more specific, I did get a Socom beta code, although not a LBP code, so for that i am grateful, but what i meant was things like a UK specific ps.blog, developer chats, and community meetings, I write on the UK PS Community forums and not much really gets mentioned at all on there of any of this, yet they are modded and ran by SCEE themselves.

the only reason i didnt go its because it is probably an 18+ event and im 17.
Fade2blac @ Sep 29th 2008 7:37AM
No, that is not true at all. There were people there of all ages but the average age there was probably in college though.
Xoonaka @ Sep 29th 2008 8:57AM
I saw some kids running around and getting yelled at by a security officer, and they must've been 12, tops. All ages event.

This is such a heart-warming story...
*wipes a tear away*
obtusegoose @ Sep 29th 2008 8:48AM
I'm very happy for them.
*sobs internally*

It was a great surprise and it completely changed my weekend from 50% Lost Odyssey / 50% Football to 70% LittleBIGPlanet / 25% Football / 5% Lost Odyssey...
I gotta say, a lot of the level created already are really fun (except that Mario one...), and even the crappy ones are fun to explore. I highly recommend the Heist levels... I'm anxiously awaiting part 3.

I saw fade2black there. Funny when I saw the name I thought, cool game. Ah the memories.
A real pain is I lost my code :(
Oh well, I got a green buzz shirt and free BBQ :)
I don't know about anyone else there but I found it odd in that it seemed Buzz was more crowded than LBP.
Fade2blac @ Sep 29th 2008 3:39PM
Hey, you remember my name and could read my sloppy hand writing? That's pretty awesome! But there is no "K" at the end, what is your PSN ID so I can add you?
chip5541 @ Sep 29th 2008 4:46PM

I was there and as soon as I got that slip of paper with letters and numbers on it I almost left right then. but I stayed and had a blast meeting new people and having fun. I got an extra code for my friend and I've been playing all weekend. This really is a system seller. I've gotten all my friends to play and they feal comfortable playig instantly.
