Rock Band 1 songs will never be DLC

Are you new to the Rock Band game and looking forward to Rock Band 2 when it arrives next month on the PS3? Well, don't count on any of the original game's songs ever becoming DLC -- the Variety video game blog The Cut Scene got in touch with MTV games regarding the matter, and Variety was told that the songs on the original Rock Band disc will not become available for download in the future. Rock Band itself will be published "indefinitely," so you don't have to worry about not being able to locate a copy.
The article goes go to evaluate the pros and cons of Harmonix not making the new songs available as DLC, but the discussion is irrelevant to the end consumer. Those of you who are buying Rock Band 2 can simply borrow a copy of Rock Band, pay the $5 fee, and have all the songs (except for three) on your hard drive. Why would you want to pay $1-2 per song instead?

Yeah, much better off just borrowing a copy of Rock Band and importing all of the songs sans the three mentioned.
That being said, let's see what HMX delivers on the PS3 side. I'm still furious that we're made to wait and PS3 fans have been kicked around more than a few times so far by HMX/EA/MTV. Just saying - as much as I want to play "Let There Be Rock" - I'll be waiting a little while to see how the initial PS3 release goes. If all's clear, I'm on board.
Not that any of you care... :)

I was a bit annoyed about waiting too (hell Im an Aussie, we only JUST got RB1 released here... like Id buy that for $400) but they said it was because Microsoft support the development, which is something Sony have been neglecting to do for quite a while now with all of their third parties.
Anyway, Ill be importing on release.

yea So I had already came to the conclusion that I would Rent RB1 from gamefly and pay $5 for the transfer and then send it back.........no biggie to me........

So, we can use the Les Paul with Rock Band now. When will we be able to use the stratocaster with Guitar Hero, as we were promised????

1) Why must current owners pay a fee when you paid royalties on the original disk
2) What if you lose the imported content? can you reuse the import key in the future?

Because technically the original license fees were to use them with RB1, not RB2. This extends you that right.
