Home open beta not coming with firmware 2.50
Home Community Manager "TedtheDog" has clarified statements he made last month on the US Home beta forums. In regards to a specific bug, Ted said the bug will be fixed in firmware update 2.5. "2.5 is what we're waiting for and 'October' is what I've heard, later October is my guess." He goes on make a statement that would seem to indicate Home 1.0 will be arriving at the same time.
Not the case, Ted stated on the official European PlayStation Home Forum. "Open beta will be later this year after 2.5 is released. Sorry about that, I should know better than to say anything that could be misconstrued like that on such an important subject." It's okay, TedtheDog, we forgive you ... all you have to do is tell us exactly when Home 1.0 will arrive. Just kidding! Or are we?
[Thanks, Danny!]

I knew there was something wrong with the october release. I said it once and I'll say it again, Home will never come out. Same goes with Killzone 2. Both of these projects won't make it to the PS3. As simple as such. Anyway, can't wait for Resistance 2.

I love the internet
Devin @ Oct 1st 2008 7:43PM
I love people who hang on the balance of an application that won't cost them a thing and should be here by the end of the year hopefully at the latest. Of course, I'd love it to be before 360's Rebranding...uh I mean Fall Update, but that's wishful thinking....
anthonyjh @ Oct 2nd 2008 2:06AM
Hell yeah! Furthermore, 9/11 was an inside job, the Holocaust never happened, and JFK is sipping chai lattes with Jimi Hendrix somewhere in Ireland.
iamkid @ Oct 1st 2008 6:41PM
*sadness*
ChodalBerryWagon @ Oct 1st 2008 6:41PM
awww nuts....
Batzi @ Oct 1st 2008 6:45PM
This is sad. Isn't it?
XGM @ Oct 1st 2008 8:19PM
Home, it'll never hit yours.
Samir @ Oct 1st 2008 6:47PM
Aww man... But i hope i still get into the beta on my birthday. October 3rd lol, or the little big planet beta.
fiziks @ Oct 1st 2008 6:55PM
lol, i want a birthday present too
BlahYourHamster @ Oct 3rd 2008 1:59PM
Happy birthday!. yes this is sad, got my hopes up for Home release before Fallout 3. Now i have to find a game that'll keep me busy for a month before Fallout 3 or LittleBigPlanet (Which looks crap imo).
Dahk @ Oct 1st 2008 6:45PM
That "Home Page" phrase is misleading. I was like wait... I AM on the PS3F home page!
DrunkRaba @ Oct 1st 2008 6:45PM
as long as they keep the games rolling in I won't care. home is nice and all, but its not like its all that great.
Devin @ Oct 1st 2008 7:45PM
Exactly, keep the games coming. Home can wait. All I want are blockbuster titles that can help me justify my $500 purchase, as well as make my friends' 360's look like old news.....
BlingOnMyWrist @ Oct 1st 2008 11:12PM
But Home will do that too...
WillGonz @ Oct 1st 2008 6:48PM
I am going to say it will be out next summer. That way when it comes out for E3 I will be excited it came out early.
Jerses @ Oct 1st 2008 7:24PM
Why wait for that delay anouncement when we have TGS in 2 weeks. Im 90% sure they will make a home extended extra extendering beta for only 1,000 more people if they buy Haze. Lol been serious... i hope they release HOME this month...if it comes after, then the 360fanboys will have its wii social network and sales will go up. HOME was supposed to be a "MUST BUY PS3" but its coming to other consoles and the hype will go to that other console...i know its not the same as home but in teory its the same thing..social network. Oh! and i forgot! damn HOME DEV team to cut off the video streaming. lol have to say it
deusmecha @ Oct 1st 2008 6:55PM
Can't wait until we get the PS9.
"Home" may be out before then, but I'm not expecting it to be. God forbid that Sony actually learns the meaning of open beta.
wem003 @ Oct 1st 2008 6:57PM
Of course... Did anyone actually think Home would show up?
Place your bets - Duke Nukem Forever vs. Home
Vincent @ Oct 1st 2008 7:17PM
I want to believe...
JerJerBinks @ Oct 1st 2008 7:26PM
There is a big difference here. Home is "real," I have been in Home and seen what they have been working on. Honestly, I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed with Home. Its not that its bad or anything, there just isnt a whole lot to do. If you are into the idea of a Sony branded Second Life, then you are in for a treat!
lorddshadow @ Oct 1st 2008 8:39PM
i'm placing my bets on home because some people have home (albeit an early version) in their hands (hard drive?) but the only thing that people have for DN:F is a handful of screenshots.
The1stMJC @ Oct 1st 2008 8:56PM
hilarious, I hope HOME wins that bet.
Syn @ Oct 1st 2008 6:58PM
I'm in the beta, via Second Wave of invites. And from what I've seen... It's not what you'd expect. It's very limited right now, and doesn't offer much in regards to wanting to stay. If the content that is currently in HOME is the same when it becomes Open Beta, a lot of people are going to be disappointed.
Tony @ Oct 1st 2008 7:04PM
and it begins
Devil240Z @ Oct 1st 2008 7:03PM
people need to stop leaking stuff from the home beta community.
justin @ Oct 1st 2008 7:23PM
y,, thats where we get the real information from..
DeathroW @ Oct 1st 2008 7:41PM
Actually, that was on the public home forum what was just put on the eu forums today.
Gambit07 @ Oct 1st 2008 7:16PM
no bailout, no Home, damn you Bush.
Vincent @ Oct 1st 2008 7:19PM
The democrats did complain about the lack of aid towards the Homeless people in the financial crisis, apparently not even 700 billion are enough to get Home out.
Vincent @ Oct 1st 2008 7:16PM
DELAYSTA.. ah you know what?! It's getting old already.
Not like I really care about Home anyways ;/ lolregion-lock
Gambit07 @ Oct 1st 2008 7:24PM
When it comes out, you'll be in a retirement Home.
MexicanTerrorist @ Oct 1st 2008 7:32PM
I officially disregard Home's existence until it arrives on my PS3 via firmware update.
End.
HaloEleven @ Oct 1st 2008 7:45PM
Doesn't Sony understand how much delays kill anticipation? Remember Life With Playststion? What a dud.
Devin @ Oct 1st 2008 7:47PM
A dud? Whatever. It's a great application that cost me Nothing and I have wowed multiple friends with it. Quit your b*tching.....
LatinoLA1 @ Oct 1st 2008 8:18PM
well i am less excited for this to come out now, seriously after a year of hearing its "coming out oh wait sorry we ment its coming out later", so whenever(if ever) it gets release i will check it out but otherwise i am not really excited about it now, but i guess we have to wait since it's free... :/
Tim Parsons @ Oct 1st 2008 8:49PM
Oh well i'm already in the beta so i won't complain,. still it releasing would be nice
RasenganFury @ Oct 1st 2008 8:49PM
I dont see why people keep complaining about home. When i heard about it i just thought it would be a cool feature and its free so it didn't really mean much to me when it was delayed since Sony was going to do this big thing without charging a subscription. Besides im going to be playing too many awesome games like Little Big Planet, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, and Mirrors Edge to worry about home lol.
Darlaten @ Oct 2nd 2008 8:06PM
To all you are are looking forward to Home coming out, I have a simple, if not sarcastic, question for you.
Why are you expressing suprise that there is another delay for Home? Afterall, this is Sony we're talking about!
Devil240Z @ Oct 1st 2008 8:54PM
well i already have access to that forum so I dont need leaked info.
TreyIM2 @ Oct 1st 2008 9:02PM
Yea, there are too many lame people whining and bitching about nothing for no reason. Just sit back and relax and enjoy the games that have been hitting the PS3. Sound like a bunch of little princesses with all that bitching, for real.
Sean @ Oct 1st 2008 9:02PM
Jez what's with all the babies crying about Home being delayed? Did you pay $400+ dollars just to play Home? I doubt it and if you did I think you'd rather have them delay it and get it right then release it and let people bitch about how awful and what a waste of a wait it is.
Ted @ Oct 1st 2008 9:19PM
Sad Face
:(
REMY @ Oct 1st 2008 9:21PM
Home is really boring people. For Real!!!! I mean it's fun the first day, but after that, meh. Ok, ok, it's free, but I really don't think most of you will be excited after the first couple of days. I may be wrong and Beta is the testing ground for things to come, so I digress. Just a warning to you that it isn't very much to it at this time...
Tim Parsons @ Oct 1st 2008 9:40PM
Very true the first day its cool after that its like,.. ok whats the point.
Shadow25331 @ Oct 2nd 2008 4:32PM
Im really tired of waiting on Home, when u've been pushing something back this long, u get tired of waiting, yet we keep getting these updates about new trailers, new features etc. Its gonna get to the point that once it comes out, no ones gonna wanna bother with it cause there may be another bug once it starts. sony, wtf r u doing yo? theres a limit to patience XD and mine has run out yo...
Crane @ Oct 2nd 2008 1:02AM
I can see the post now......
Dec 4 2008. Sorry if we misled you with our other posts but it looks like Home will be delayed until Spring due to the fact that there are not enough players even interested in the pipe dream anymore...
Paulmichael @ Oct 2nd 2008 3:08AM
I've become jaded when it comes to Home...Barely any news, and I have to rely on videos made by people in the beta. I used to be soo excited about it, but now I'm just patiently waiting for it. In the meantime, I can barely contain myself while I wait for LBP!!!
Tridrakious @ Oct 3rd 2008 2:02AM
Have people forgotten that HOME was announced at GDC 07, in march. While I knew that HOME would get delayed til at least Dec. of this year, there's no way people can compare it to Duke Nukem Forever. Also the content will get there with Home. There's a difference in thousands of people in a beta and millions of people in a full released service.
bkalasin @ Oct 4th 2008 12:11AM
Lol. Who cares. I have no interest in wandering around in some giant advertisement anyway.
