MGO's second expansion coming, playable at TGS
Still playing Metal Gear Online? If you are, you've probably played the original game and the first expansion "Gene" to death already. It might just be about time for a new expansion; Konami seems to agree. According to these new magazine scans, MGO's second expansion dubbed "Meme" will feature both Liquid Ocelot and Mei Ling as new prized characters.
Then there are a handful of new maps: Silo Sunset, Forest Firefight and Winter Warehouse. It shouldn't be too difficult to figure out what those maps will look like judging by their respective titles. Silo Sunset, however, seems to be set in an area with ruined buildings and not actually inside a massive silo.
A price and date has not been specified, though we can't imagine that a price would be any different from the previous Gene expansion. It looks like the earliest anyone would be getting their hands on the new expansion would be at Tokyo Game Show -- where it will be open to the public.

Woo, lets hope they give us time to play some of these games all coming out within the next few months first, i'm really looking forward to this expansion - playing as them two will be strange :P.

Man damn this map pack. I wanted to play as ED and Jonathan. Nobody wants to play as damn Mei Ling. She never left the boat in the game. lol! Or at least they could have did one of the troopers.Ok i'm upset but i know i'll end up still buying it, lol!
kentuckyfried @ Oct 1st 2008 2:15PM
Hey, you never know, maybe she'll be useful in providing offshore bombardmant from her ship's main guns a-la Streets of Rage. Cheesy, yet effective!

I got to level 6 the other night and still haven't purchased the expansion. Everytime I look only like 30 people are on the expansion servers. $16 was way too much given the arduous task of setting up the konami bit. Hopefully they'll lower the price of the existing patch like Warhawk does. They need to make a move before Resistance2 takes me away from MGO.

Man Suck at the game. I've been stuck at level 3 since I got the game. I Don't know what I'm doing that I can't level up and I've been online playing since it came out. Do you have to level up all your weapons and skills to rank up? or is it all about headshots and kills?
kentuckyfried @ Oct 1st 2008 2:18PM
I picked up lvl 3 this last week, lol.
You pretty much need to start taking down people that are higher level than you on at least a 1:1 basis it would appear. This isn't that bad in dealing with lvl 5's half the time, but taking down 7's to 10's? that just makes me want to cry, I can sometimes pick them off with grenades but otherwise, they're hard to kill so far.
Despair @ Oct 2nd 2008 2:19AM
To level up, you pretty much need more kills than death. Atleast that's how I see it. I seem to level up then level down over and over -___-
From 6 to 5, then up, then down....you get the point..

Did Ocelot really needed to walk around with his ID tag exposed? I mean, he's the boss! I don't see Bill Gates walking around with one of those.
Jerses @ Oct 1st 2008 1:48PM
Metal gear online? whats that...
Zable @ Oct 1st 2008 2:09PM
The previous expansion was only $12. The extra money was for an additional character slot.
I'm REALLY looking forward to the new levels -- I'm bored as hell playing U.U. and G.G. all the damn time.
AJ_3 @ Oct 1st 2008 2:10PM
If they are still supporting this game, why not act like Rock* add some trophies?
Grrrr
Popfrogs @ Oct 1st 2008 4:10PM
Because of Konami's brainless decision to cut the PSN out of the whole online experience.
PlasmaSnake @ Oct 1st 2008 2:12PM
MGO is awesome and I love playing it. I just wish they gave reward points for things other than survival mode. I don't want some jerk off telling when I can and can't play in a game. But I have fun playing. My character's name is Turgid Worm and I am a level 4 I think. I will probably buy this expansion pack as well.
kentuckyfried @ Oct 1st 2008 2:23PM
You can auto-match in survival lobbies, but getting is slower than molasses...
I wish there were more survival hours, I keep missing the slots.
Outside of that though, there are teams out there who are very very casual and not a-holes worries about RP and rank...just use the auto-match option and pick "everybody" (that's the best) or even try "beginner".

No doubt i am going to get the Expansion pack, i Love Ocelot, and I dont understand why Mei Ling anyways hope she can use a HUGE gun that no one expects coming seems like they might drop the price on this expansion, they had a Survey last expansion and one of the questions was, Map packs expensive and i know 99% of the people said YES, so they might take that feedback and drop the price at least 5 dollars or so, Anyways ill buy it even full price i love MGO
Mike @ Oct 1st 2008 3:05PM
How amazing would it be if winter warehouse took place on Shadow Moses?
ZildjianKX @ Oct 1st 2008 3:19PM
Until they add trophies and get rid of the Konami ID crap, they aren't getting another dime from me.
Emyrs @ Oct 1st 2008 3:15PM
I played this for a good month or two after i got mgs4.. but.. while it can be fun at points, it has to be one of the most poorly executed games of its kind. everything from ease of headshots to the level system.. i just think it was poorly done.
not to say i didnt have fun while it lasted, but with socom out in two weeks, i doubt if ill play this much at all anymore.
JAH75157 @ Oct 1st 2008 6:39PM
i quit playing because all of my friends didn't want to deal with the konami crap, i've been playing socom beta almost a month now and i don't see myself ever turning on MGO again. it's a shame i wanted it to be alot of fun.
CrashSpyro123 @ Oct 1st 2008 8:43PM
I'm guessing Forest Firefight is a remake of the forest level in the original MGO, but does that building in Silo Sunset mean its a remake of another original MGO map?
Solid Squirrel @ Oct 19th 2008 5:27PM
Silo Sunset is based on the silo level of Metal Gear Portable Ops, which has been a playable online level for over 2 years now. Fans like myself will have a distinct advantage over noobs to the level since we know it's layout front to back. Chances are though they'll either
1. expand the level
or
2. change it's layout. Great sniping level, lots of blind corners for grabs.
