Resistance 2 'Time Bomb' video is potentially spoilerific

This video is probably not for those of you who are trying to stay away from spoilers. The clip shows some cinematic footage from Resistance 2 and give us an indication of where the story's headed. It seems that Nathan Hale could be going through some changes fairly imminently. What was that he said in the original teaser? 19 hours left to live? We're excited to get a proper narrative experience out of Resistance 2 and it's nice to see Hale talk, finally. Even if the lip syncing isn't perfect ...

All I can say is the information makes for an interesting plot in R2. That's all you need to know.

I think that the guy he's escorting is Dr. Malikov, and that this takes place at the end of the level with Daedalus, and I think that Daedalus causes some sort of change in Hale. We shall see in November though...

Well in a barehands fight? Well nathan hale is infected with chimeran virus and that gives him some sort of super powers.

With weapons? Nathan hale just needs to use Auger to stop all incoming fire and shot through the wall/rock that Marcus dude is hiding.

i know who would win a popularity fight. i'd like to see a Nathan Hale action figure, poster, or any other marketable device and expect it to look unique enough to say "oh, that's the bald soldier from Resistance. he totally looks non-generic and unlike the horde of other bald heroes we've come across before. awesome!"

dude, it's not about their occupation. it's their character design. and Nathan is pretty damn generic. you put Marcus's face on a coffee mug and you automatically say "Hey that's Gears of War." It's in his face, his eyes, and the armor. It's marketable.

in the face? not entirely true. in the structure perhaps. but then again UT3 took most of it's designs hot off of Gears of War. but then again Gears of War is more widely known today than UT among both casual and hardcore.

Marcus has so much body armor on if he took it off he would be nothing he wouldnt be Marcus. He needs all that to survive. Nathan would just look at him and be like "yeah" laughs*.

just face it: this game will be awesome in terms of it's many multiplayer options. but Nathan Hale will always be mediocre when compared to Marcus Fenix.

I look at the art of Gears of War and it's instantly recognizable. sure, Marcus can be seen as a generic space marine. but the design of his suit and the way his facial features are structured they pop more than Nathan's.

I teach character design so i think i know when a character has potential to sell products and when one doesn't.

For whatever reason, I just couldn't get into the first game. Infact, I hated it. I haven't even finished it...

That probably isn't anything against the game, but more due to me being too addicted to Gears of War multiplayer at the time.

However, this is preventing me getting too excited for this sequel. Hopefully it's great. However, I'll leave my impressions till after I have played it.

How far did you get into the game before you stopped playing it? I only just recently picked it up and I really disliked it at first. After 3-4 hours in though I was enjoying much, much more.

Resistance was always more fun playing with someone else. Single player was plenty alright, but coop mode was frickin' awesome lol.

I'm only up to the bus depot part... so probably not that far into it. Sounds like I need to give it another try. I never sold it or got rid of it. It's still here. Might try some co-op over the weekend, then maybe, just maybe, I'll have a PS3 game on pre order amongst all the X360 ones :D

Omg! Nathan vs Marcus??? What are u all? 12 yrs or less. They're aren't real. I'm a fan of both games and each have they good and bad qualities. Tho I like my PS3 better than my 360, I like both games equally.

i seriously don't get why characters have to be compared by what they stand for or who they are, it's true each character is built for it's own universe, but from an artist's perspective i just see the Gears art and Marcus as more recognizable due to some unique key features.

Don't have to be any age to play or stop playing video games Rodrigo. My age means I can still keep up with the "youth" when it comes to hard-core gaming. But, comparing characters in a video game, is like comparing Superman to Spider-Man, "children" do that. It's ridiculous, it's immature, it's just stupid.

Ryan did you play ut3? all of epics games use the same design.What draws me to resistance is the storyline.

oh yes, i remember the first showing of the Unreal 3 engine back in the day. and guess what? it was a level and alien creature taken directly from Gears of War work in progress.

So you could say that UT3 took designs from Gears of War, but that doesn't mean Marcus Fenix is any less of an icon in today's gaming community.

Seriously guys. And Ryan. You of all people should know that it's not just the character design visually, but how that character design present's the character's story. Neither character did all that well to present their stories in their first games, and that doesn't change much for their sequels. Marcus doesn't have any more recognizable features than Hale, and likewise. They're both running around in the same armor as other troops on their game and pretty much have the same body shape. In the sequels, things have changed up a bit since one of the GoW2 guys has a hat! But they all still have the samebase silhouette. Likewise for R2 where, gasp, one guy has a radio! But it's still basically the same silhouette.

@ ryan..dude i've played (& beaten) both resistance n g.o.w..both games are great..both has their pros n cons now that said seriously relax..it's called OPINION for crying out loud..hell i think beavis & butt-head can beat both of em in a co op match..who cares it's my opinion n i get you're in the house n all but damn lay off of every1's d!ck n let comments slide..
back on page..can't wait for this game it's gonna be epic!!!
