PS3 October Buyer's Guide: What games to get?

The month of October is simply packed to the brim with good games and the holiday shopping season is just about to start. For all those gamers and shoppers out there, the abundance of titles may make it difficult to discern which ones might be right for them. Perhaps a little help from us is in order.

In this feature, we highlight the top ten PlayStation 3 games which we think stick out this month and probably deserve your hard-earned cash. So get started and check out what's in store for this month on our October Buyer's Guide.

I bet many of us have dreamed for the day when we've got so much choice we need a buyers guide.

It's LBP, BioShock, and possibly MotoStorm for me. The Godfather's also out on Blu-Ray this month.

For me, it's SOCOM. The only reason I went with a PS3 was because I knew there would be a SOCOM sequel, and I was right. I've played the beta, I love it. Despite the beta problems, I have faith that the final copy will be great, and I'm buying it day one. Then I'll see how things go there with my purchases of LittleBigPlanet and FIFA 09. I'm not 100% on LBP. I don't know, I'm loving the beta, but I guess I want to see what the full copy will have. FIFA is only if I have enough money left lol

Midnight Club Dub Edition and LBP.
Reason for midnight club ; played it on the PSP and loved the customisation. So i'm thinking of NFS:OTC X 1000.

LBP for sure. With Oct. and Nov. being so busy, Bioshock, Dead Space & Fallout 3 might have to be rentals or future buys in Dec. or Jan.

Midnight Club LA??????? Anybody else think this deserved a place over something like Singstar???? You've got 3 music games up there. Anyway, I'm so stuck at what to get. Luckily its my birthday at the start of November. So i should be able to blag a few of these offerings. Fore me it'll probably be: Midnight Club, LBP, SOCOM and GH4. Should be a good Autumn!!!!

There's a mistake with the Guide. It mentions Fracture being a First Person Shooter, which it's not :P

In that order.

Then Mirror's Edge in November, and Prince of Persia in December. I'd like to add Midnight Club and Motorstorm to that list, but I have no idea where I'm gonna come up with the $360 + tax for the things already on the list. In reality, it'll probably just end up being LBP and a lot of rentals until X-mas.

Seriously, they didnt evn mention Far Cry 2???? Why? Thats got to at least be on the list of games worth trying at least. I dont understand why there has been exactly zero hype or information for this game recently. Doesnt anyone care?

I'm with you Dan. Tried this game at Leipzig and it's awesome! Seeing the map editor sold it to me. Going to spend November creating a lot of levels with that and LBP

I hear ya. Now that I have a mortgage, I can't afford to buy 7-8 PS3 games/month. I'm limiting myself to one game per month per platform now.

I'll buy Fallout3 for the PC. That'll take care of October.

I have booked myself Guitar Hero World Tour, I figured why should I give my money to the Rock Band devs when they continually keep giving these timed exclusive periods to the 360.
I mean RB2 isn't even coming out in Europe this year.

Apart from that my purchase list for the remainder of the year includes LBP and Motorstorm 2. Also ordered Mirrors Edge although I guess thats a November release. Will probably end up getting the SOCOM game, mostly for the headset.

PC Gamer gave Far Cry 2 a 94%....they gave Crysis:Warhead a 60...I think thats a pretty good reason not to be wary.

Fracture over Far Cry 2? Sigh.

Fallout 3, LBP and Far Cry 2 for me...probably over the period of half a year but still...

I'll wait for word of mouth on Spider-man. I'm still not convinced because it's always said that every spidey game that has come out is good.

As for Fracture...
They made a mistake by releasing a demo...I had it in my mind to get it until i played the demo and i think alotta ppl changed their mind after the demo as well.
