Qore, Future's monthly PS3 video magazine, has a history of delivering (with questionable timeliness) betas for many popular Sony titles. Well, it looks like they may also grant access to the open beta of
Home. A comment on the
PlayStation.Blog from Sony's Kevin Furuichi hints at the possibility. "We're working on this for the current Extended Closed Beta. We are trying to get you guys [Qore subscribers] into Home before the official public beta. We hope to have more information in about two weeks."

awesome
jarhead906 @ Oct 8th 2008 3:42PM
The Beta doesn't have the couple million PS3 owners in it at this moment in time, so yeah its not that great.
Again, its a BETA! It doesn't have all the features its supposed to have. In addition to that, its software that is MEANT to be updated constantly based on user demand.
Its going to be similar to LBP demand and how they'll fine tune it down the road continuously.
Replica23 @ Oct 9th 2008 4:51AM
"In addition to that, its software that is MEANT to be updated constantly based on user demand."
Exactly. Sony needs to get all PS3 users into Home so they can start contributing. There is no better way to develop a social product like this than input directly from the people using it.
It's too bad LittileBigPlanet wasn't the basis for home. That's be sweet.
ThePlake0815 @ Oct 8th 2008 11:30AM
HOME gets more and more uninteressting for me... since over half a year the most of the customers from Sony only hear about HOME, they (including me) can never actually use it... when it's out i guess it's already something from yesterday, which only nostalgic people need... Sony, what's wrong?!?!?
vahdyx @ Oct 8th 2008 12:17PM
Dude, you honestly won't be all excited when it comes out!
I have the beta and I was like a 16yo girl for in front of justin timberlake for the first few days, but after that it's nothing great!
I will use it but not nearly as much as I thought I was. It is cool to meet up with folks and start a game from the Plaza, but unless the game supports home, it's pointless.
Example Socom beta, we got a huge group of people wanting to play, and then when the host launched, we all got into the game and sat there. I hit start and found out it just launched the game and none of the other guys were with me.
Back into home we found out that if a game doesn't support home, it's will suck
Jerses @ Oct 8th 2008 11:34AM
thanks! so this means no tgs release for home...so that means if this extended extended beta will come out like in oct 22 or something... they will have to wait at least 1 month to release the open beta. So im guessing TGS will anounce a home delay...i was more happy this past weeks without reading nothing about home... damn me!!!!
fiziks @ Oct 8th 2008 11:40AM
yay delay
fiziks @ Oct 8th 2008 11:42AM
I'm beginning to enjoy delays
hurricane @ Oct 8th 2008 11:56AM
Well, you have Sony's word that it will be out in 2008. But then, it is Sony after all...
tomoguisuru @ Oct 8th 2008 2:56PM
it could be worse. It could be MS and then we would have to pay for it
FooBear408 @ Oct 8th 2008 11:34AM
That would be so sexual T-Rex.
TONY @ Oct 8th 2008 11:46AM
i got in a few days ago. its alright, i just wish they would have added the game specific rooms and some more content. i see the potential, but its just not there yet.
hurricane @ Oct 8th 2008 12:22PM
Yeah, I'm in it too, and I hear the NA beta pales in comparison the Jap beta (don't know that from personal experience though, unfortunately...).
prodigy_69 @ Oct 8th 2008 11:49AM
like the actress said to the bishop...just get it out already
GAME-HERO @ Oct 8th 2008 12:10PM
Longer time Qore 1 owner and still NO SOCOM BETA!
Rick @ Oct 9th 2008 12:57PM
if you bought the first episode of Qore, the code to get into the beta was sent to you in an email. the beta is not available through the download center of Qore.
HAAS599 @ Oct 8th 2008 12:11PM
I got in the beta 1 month after subscribing to Qore. Before the beta I really couldnt have cared less about home, but I downloaded it anyway. I am very glad I did, the beta doesnt have everything unlocked but its still very fun. I created an old snake avatar and enjoy playin pool and the arcade. If your enjoy socializing then home is for you.
Popfrogs @ Oct 8th 2008 12:11PM
Are you shooting for the Worst Commenter trophy on ps3fanboy?
I give you a platinum.
bluerei @ Oct 8th 2008 12:23PM
So will people be allowed to enter the two residence, 5 area home with nothing to do? Cause that's what I'm playing in the beta right now.
longawkwardprose.com @ Oct 8th 2008 12:46PM
these "public" beta waves are nothing more than viral marketing. the LBP beta is just a trumped up demo. so too will this be; only you'll have to pay for it. Sony is using the excitement gathered by making the LBP "beta" semi exclusive to generate downloads and trump up sales estimates. (i received several codes for LBP "beta" by the way) this is a ploy to get people to subscribe to Qore... another sony marketing tool.
SnazzyD @ Oct 8th 2008 1:07PM
Prove it by sending me one of your extra LBP codes :)
No, seriously...
longawkwardprose.com @ Oct 9th 2008 12:58PM
that's what i did.. passed them out to my friendslist. i'm all out, but if they send another, i'll get you one.
and by the way... i'm not saying i'm anti beta or anti demo, or anti home (i can't wait for full release [that's what she said])... just call a spade a spade, and a demo a demo, and when you call it a demo let everybody have it... for free.
longawkwardprose.com @ Oct 8th 2008 1:54PM
Let your readers know that USATODAY.com is the place for their chance to play LittleBigPlanet before it hits stores Oct. 21. They can go to http://littlebigplanet.usatoday.com and there will be a link that gets them a free access key (beta code) from Sony to download the trial version of the game to their Net-connected PlayStation 3.
there you go.
Py @ Oct 8th 2008 1:03PM
Dammit. Qore is killing me beccause offers many promotions
bkalasin @ Oct 8th 2008 1:41PM
Home = Yawn. Where's the fun in wandering around in some immense commercial designed to push SONY products. Boooorrrrriiiiinnnng....
rgoff31 @ Oct 8th 2008 3:07PM
I'm getting the Qore via the official PS Magazine, but it does sound like Qore is trying to be the pay monthly premium "Gold Service"
Shaun @ Oct 8th 2008 3:10PM
Stop hyping for home; it's not that great right now. I subscribe to Qore, but I'm already in the beta. I haven't used it for weeks now though (I'm waiting for BT Headset support). btw: any news on the FW update for PS3 so we can use the new SOCOM headset next week?
jarhead906 @ Oct 8th 2008 3:43PM
That picture from Home looks a million times better and more realistic than the images I've seen from the Beta. The lighting effects are captured well and the overall environment is looking good.
lorddshadow @ Oct 8th 2008 5:39PM
YES! yearlong subscription has paid for itself! socom, resistance, and (possibly) the home beta!!! YEAH!
whatever happened to the resistance beta btw?
ChocoDK @ Oct 8th 2008 6:40PM
With all the people though complaining about Qore and how its not worth the money in that blog, I am not suprised to see a Sony rep say something about the Home beta. I get Qore a month later via the Official Playstation Magazine so I don't care to subscribe to Qore but seriously I don't care about Home as much anymore. I am fed up with not getting into the Beta twice. I will wait for the official release and see how it is then.
mercurywa @ Oct 8th 2008 9:11PM
Honestly, I'm over it. They've burned all of their "I'm Interested" credits with the incessant hype.
Eric @ Oct 8th 2008 11:59PM
I was invited in because I downloaded the Home theme.
GGCAN @ Oct 9th 2008 9:58AM
It's really funny how people say they have the beta and Home is boring.
Yesterday, they put up a couple of new rooms on Home and I've never seen it so busy.
Sure you get used to the stuff, but with each new addition (and remember, Sony said this will be an ever evolving thing in Home as new additions are made) Home will get better and better.
As well when we have the games coming on board and a room for those games, it will make it even a better place.
Remember people, this is the beta....as we tell Sony what we want to see...it will develop...you can't expect everything day one.
It's also free right now...maybe when it goes live and some things must be purchased....the money will be used to enhance Home even further.
Jonathan @ Oct 9th 2008 12:57PM
I still don't understand why people go ape shit over betas. So you get to play a crappy version of a game a couple weeks before the full version of the game comes out? Whooptie doo, I'd rather wait.
Tom @ Oct 9th 2008 12:57PM
1. Qore is only available in America.
2. You have to pay for it.
3. Even if Qore does get released here, there are no PSN cards outside Europe.
4. Qore is full of ads, even though you pay for it.
5. Fuck Qore.
ThinkIcouldburn @ Oct 9th 2008 12:58PM
I'm starting to doubt this ever coming out. 2 weeks and maybe we'll get news about Qore subscribers being let into the beta. So that puts us towards the end of October for news about this. Then maybe mid to late November for Qore to be let in. So is this going to be a Christmas present? When Sony said September 2007, or Early 2008, or Fall 2008, who knew they really meant Christmas 2008? I even doubt this time period. And I already know Home is not going to be worth all this hype. No doubt the servers will crash when/if they finally release it. I seriously cannot wait for Home to be dubbed Sim Shitty.
Mattchewie @ Oct 9th 2008 12:58PM
You know I can see using core for such things as early access to demo's and ANOTHER method of beta delivery but to give those group of people access is pretty crapy since it was never stated from the get go that qore sub-er's will have priority.
JerJerBinks @ Oct 9th 2008 12:58PM
Its amazing to me how your posts got progressively more retarded. Are you trying to be funny, or are you just plain stupid?
BTW, as a Home beta tester, you don't have to wait to experience all home has to offer. Just head on over to http://www.secondlife.com and sign up! It is the same thing, only without the Sony branding.
esketch @ Oct 28th 2008 11:00PM
I'm downloading it as I write this. It took a while but I'm finally getting the chance to see it in action. Thanks Qore!
