LittleBigPlanet beta levels will remain in the finished product
Speaking to 1UP, Alex Evans of Media Molecule apparently confirmed that the many user-generated levels from the LittleBigPlanet will remain in the final game. Earlier today, we told you about a poll that Media Molecule was running to decide whether or not those levels should stay. The voting will continue, but simply to gauge the reactions of the community -- though with 82% currently in favor of preserving the creations, it looks like Media Molecule made the right choice. So if you are in the beta now with an especially exotic creation, you can relax and you don't have to worry about losing your work.

This is GREAT news. I was holding back on the beta levels due to this fact but now that it will carry on to the full game I can really put some effort into em. Thanks 4 the update

yay lbp.

Maybe im dumb or something but I am in the LBP Beta and I played the first level that teaches you how to play but from there I cannot get access to create my own level. I sit at the controller thing and can only play that one level and it says 0% complete but my score when I finished the level was like 14000 or something and I did the race and everything. Can anyone help? PLEASE!
jerix954 @ Oct 9th 2008 6:37PM
Dan you need to finish the level when the king tells you "this is the real deal the rest was just practice" something like that.
Remix @ Oct 9th 2008 6:24PM
There's a few levels you have to finish, make sure to explore the levels completely and get all hidden items. Some are only available after you put stickers on cardboard items like the teapot, stars, shoes... things like that. After you complete the few levels it'll give u access 2 other planets. 1 is used 2 create u'r own levels. Hope that helps
Nyxter @ Oct 9th 2008 6:28PM
will stuff made in a US beta - be transferrable to UK retail?
wocyob @ Oct 9th 2008 6:33PM
nice.... i hope they keep my levels even if no one played them yet... need to publish my last one and hope they are added
paul @ Oct 9th 2008 6:29PM
I have failed miserably at every beta opportunity for this game. I sent USA today an email damn near 3 hours after I saw the article for it. How in the world did they send out 15000 beta codes already!? \and I didnt get one damn email. At this point, I dont want to hear anymore about this beta, before i start to get pissed off with this game. With all this hype , this game better be great. Ill just wait for the release.
kentuckyfried @ Oct 9th 2008 6:48PM
I think it's a conspiracy, especially against gamers who already work for a living (e.g. age bias). But keep watching ps3fanboy and follow the leads here, b/c I was FINALLY able to get a Lbp beta code last week from G4 tv.
Don't give up! (unless of course the game's already about to come out).
_..._ @ Oct 9th 2008 6:54PM
lol I managed to get 3 codes from USA today and I already had a code form another time so I gave the 3 away
Ted @ Oct 9th 2008 11:18PM
Exactly how I feel, I can not get a beta code no matter how hard I try...
I don't know if I think keeping the content on there is a good decision or not...
I'm worried I might be behind already before the damn game even comes out!
Eric E @ Oct 10th 2008 9:37AM
I know how it feels guys, i got mine from USA today finally.
problem is everyone tries every contest or mutlitple accounts/emails.
so 1K people have all 100K codes. and they don't share if they get extras. everyone was trying to sell me theirs or trade for RB songs, other betas or free games.
THIS is not what MM intended.
Vincent @ Oct 9th 2008 6:37PM
That's good, I'm nearly finished with my level right now. I still plan on tweaking it around, but it's mostly finished
j.howlett @ Oct 9th 2008 6:49PM
hopefully i'll be able to publish something neat in time.
Gman @ Oct 9th 2008 7:17PM
This sucks, not only are beta testers going to start with more experience, but they'll also be way ahead of everyone else with created content! Way to create a "haves vs. have-nots" situation Sony!
kevin @ Oct 9th 2008 7:35PM
stop whining.
Packfan @ Oct 9th 2008 7:45PM
Does it really matter if people are ahead or not? A great level will be great no matter when it's made. So will the crap levels.
Popfrogs @ Oct 9th 2008 10:26PM
Don't cry. Some of MM's levels are pretty complicated. When you buy the game on release day, you'll have other people's LESS complicated levels to copy to your moon and work with to understand how things can work.
They're doing everyone a favor, trust me on this.
Mein Bratwurst @ Oct 9th 2008 9:04PM
Well put, Packfan. My thoughts exactly.
JJ @ Oct 10th 2008 5:51PM
I have the Beta, and after playing the game I feel like I have no advantage over "late comers."
The game is not at all like an FPS or MMORPG where people with a head start will own every newcomer that comes along.
LBP is all about the sharing experience, the cooperation and pretty much just the fun to be had. There's very little competition among the community -- and where there is competition, it's usually just the kind you'd find in the schoolyard... "Race ya to the lamp-post!"
rgoff31 @ Oct 9th 2008 8:29PM
With only a few days I wasn't going to try and make another level for the beta, but I will have now. The beta corrupt my other level, but I'll be sure and save & copy more this time.
Jake @ Oct 9th 2008 8:35PM
Please tell me how long will this game take to finish, because I don't want to buy something that is short on gameplay. Metal Gear Solid 4 was a long lasting game that I have ever play and it was the best.
Again LittleBigPlanet promotion, how good is this game could be? I prefer that I will wait for IGN rating of this game.
jizzwacker @ Oct 9th 2008 8:41PM
the game never ends man... after the story mode which is 50+ levels...you can create your own levels..or play thousands of levels created by other users. im lucky enough to have the beta....and ive played atleast 200 different levels already.
i wouldnt advise waiting for the ign rating...the game is always fun....i give it a 20 out of 10
Mr. Joe @ Oct 9th 2008 9:08PM
i'm in the beta. but jizzwacker (which by the way is the grossest thing i've typed in a long time) saying 20 out of 10 is obviously not on their rocker. so let's say they say 10 out of 10. a perfect game? no. it's far from perfect. the controls are difficult but you get used to them until you're trying to tug one little piece around and it frustrates the hell out of you cuz sackboy's vertical is a quarter inch and you're trying to stack stuff so you can hop all over it.. potentially, people are going to say the game is "only limited by your creativity" but my argument is that the controls and gameplay hinder the creativity.
but even with gameplay issues, overall i give THE BETA an 8 out of 10. which i'm kind of a hard ass with games, i rank things on the ps3 in the 3s and 4s (like sega rally revo and fracture...). however, my score may differ depending on the final release and the countless hours i spend building frustration over the need of another inch in sackboy's jumping ability.
Popfrogs @ Oct 9th 2008 10:30PM
Yeah the levels can last for a long time depending on how complicated they are. There is a width limit, and a height limit to the levels.
However like jizzdude said before me, since people are constantly creating levels..the content is literally endless. As long as people are making levels there will be more every time you start the game.
kger1324 @ Oct 9th 2008 9:05PM
Now that's one really good move MM...I was kinda worried about all those AMAZING levels in the Beta...Now that's some "gold" fan service..LBP+MM=Full of Win
Gambit07 @ Oct 9th 2008 9:09PM
I think LBP will be my Commerce Casino poker addiction.

Am i the only living soul who hasnt played the beta for this game yet? :(
Crock @ Oct 10th 2008 9:08PM
I've got a couple beta keys for the first two people to ask for em

Me please
CEEarl @ Oct 11th 2008 9:22PM
Hope this helps someone. One problem though. I wrote down my and my friend's code for this game and was given another by a UK user who can't use his, so whoever wants a free beta code will have to enter all three, because I accidentally got them mixed up. One should work if you're in the US though. Enjoy. Sorry about the extra hassle. If someone knows a friend in the US pass it along.
