TGS 08: Japanese Home beta not delayed
On top of the list of common misconceptions here at our fine site is that there is never any good news concerning Home. We kid, we kid. We do actually have some good news though -- during Sony's Japanese press conference, it was announced that Home's open beta is on track for release in Japan later in the month. The open beta will end in November, at which time we take for granted, in the absence of proof to the contrary, that the final product will be released.
Additionally, it was announced that 24 additional publishers have just signed on to create content for Home. Jem noted that Square Enix is conspicuously absent, but the inclusion of some of the big boys like Disney and Activision does provide a bit of relief. No word on whether this carries over to the North American or European versions. List of the publishers after the break.

I wonder who will collaborate differently in the other regions. Hopefully we will have similar content.

360 experience is coming in november 12 if home is delayed to november 30 the hype will go for the wii360 avatars..i know its not the same but the new 360 dashboard is something that will atract more costumers to it.
Why is home coming first to japan? wasnt it from europe or something? and if it ends in november for japan...then north america will have emmm...like...december?
KarlW @ Oct 9th 2008 2:17PM
Microsoft announced the new 360 dashboard and are delivering it a few months later. Sony announced Home years ago, and we're only now getting to the point of a region-limited open beta.
Come on Sony! Step up your game!
Wayne @ Oct 9th 2008 4:52PM
I think a new dashboard is a little different to home...
iamkid @ Oct 9th 2008 12:41PM
i saw this on gamepro. made me think "awesome"
Mattchewie @ Oct 9th 2008 1:16PM
Square is still too busy counting microsoft's pay out to be concerned with anything else. :D.....I kid....a little.
However I also with Jerses, Home could of been first to market and blown the doors off MS. Even if its "on track" I think if it releases after the NXE update, it will just make a small thud in the gaming community instead of the loud bang it could of.

More like Square enix is in so much shit right now (financially) that they don't have the resources to do anything for Home and they haven't even released a PS3 title yet so why even bother with Home.
bluefrog @ Oct 9th 2008 1:16PM
I'm intrigued by the company listed as "Spike." Is that a developer? The only "Spike" I can think of is the TV network in the US.
Sammy @ Oct 9th 2008 1:27PM
First of all - hate this NXE acronym buzz word thing.
Secondly - is this the best thing that came out of Sony's conference? Where is the news? The 14 games? Microsoft are trumping Sony in Japan. When that happens you know things are bad?
Am I missing something? Should I be more patient?
Jerses @ Oct 9th 2008 1:32PM
thats because sony doesnt offered a conference at TGS...sad to hear in the year of the playstation lol. But its true what happened to does 14 new games ( 13 will be psn games)?
batty @ Oct 9th 2008 1:33PM
well since s-e has yet to release games for the ps3 ... it's too early for them to sign up for home ... + since when do s-e games have multiplayer online o.0
lakaihigh @ Oct 9th 2008 1:43PM
Naughty Dog and Incognito are still part of that list of developers making game rooms... right?
Wayne @ Oct 9th 2008 4:54PM
I hope so. This might be the list of new ones...
Korsa @ Oct 9th 2008 1:44PM
I can see the EU Home being bleak and empty... kinda like..... uuuurm the PSN!!!!!!!!!
shamus @ Oct 9th 2008 2:39PM
I've never joined a game online that didn't have at least enough people to fill any room that I've joined. Go back to live if you don't like PSN.
DeathroW @ Oct 9th 2008 2:20PM
Yeah, home is developed here in the uk - we got the beta first last year iirc. So maybe we'll get it around the same time again?
DDD @ Oct 9th 2008 5:25PM
i think that square enix might leave us for xbrick 360.
HiddenEmerald @ Oct 9th 2008 10:41PM
wtf Squae enix sucks? They are one of the best at making RPGs.
So damn glad to see Nippon Ichi up there. They are one of my favorite 3rd parties out there, and I have almost all of their games. ubisoft, bandai namco, atlus. Awesome
GGCAN @ Oct 10th 2008 4:03PM
@ DeathroW
Not sure what you said is correct about Home and last year. (It may have been developed in the UK, that I'm not too sure of).
However, I am in Home Beta and have a friend that's been in the Beta for 2 years now. (Japan was his first).
I think Japan was first with Home and UK may have followed ....
Andrew @ Oct 14th 2008 6:32AM
sony should give us a new xmb that would be alot better then having the psp xmb
