TGS 08: Monster Hunter Unite headed for US
One of the reasons (or the reason) the PSP is doing so well in Japan is due in no small part to Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G. As we predicted, the game is being brought over stateside as Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. The Monster Hunter titles certainly haven't done as well in the States as they have in Japan. Will Unite change all of that? We doubt it, but we'll find out come Spring 2009, which is when the game is expected to be released in the US.

Shin @ Oct 9th 2008 3:50PM
Old. (12 hours at least)
But yeah, good news anyway. Still hoping for a 2008 release though. :/
Also you forgot to mention it will have ONLINE PLAY through PS3.
aj @ Oct 9th 2008 7:22PM
Damn it. I really wanted to be able to get online with this game, but now I have to have a PS3. No thanks.
chidoriken @ Oct 9th 2008 3:56PM
Nice. I have a ps3. It will take a while to come to the u.s because they are working on the online system.
Roberto @ Oct 9th 2008 4:08PM
DUDE, they forgot us since they moved to Nintendo cr*p.
And I won't discuss again...
It's a shame...but, it's true.
Dreadhead541 @ Oct 9th 2008 7:04PM
Monster hunter has been most successful on psp. I think one of the biggest reasons capcom move MH3's development to wii so it'd be easier to port it to the psp. Capcom would be crazy not to.
Roberto @ Oct 10th 2008 10:02AM
Dude, I am Not shure if they will Port it to PSP...if yes, it will take a LONG...i'd preffer to "port" it to PS3... Butt the PSP sells more...and you know....its PORTablE....
bryanson @ Oct 9th 2008 6:29PM

sony boy @ Oct 11th 2008 7:51PM
the wii sucks. they should have made it on the ps3 and 360. WHY WII??? WII's monster freedom looks like the ps2 and the psp!!!!
pixelator @ Oct 12th 2008 9:30PM
Whoa whoa whoa yourself, Nintendo boy. Many of us don't care for Nintendo products this gen, and we have a point. The DS and Wii are hype-machines with second-rate hardware (lack of HD and hi-capacity media matters). Their platforms are little more than slapped together commercials for cartoons and other licensed properties. What decent games it has are mostly franchise titles, and fewer still of these are anything really new or really GOOD. No, I do not think Wii Fit is a good video game.
The PS3 may not be selling like the Wii, but the latter is most certainly NOT the 'better console'. Like with so many crap products/movies/books/media in our culture that get gobbled up by people with no taste and no frame of reference.
That said, that it's taken this long to get this game over here speaks volumes about Sony's total apathy regarding the USA market - as if there needed to be any additional volumes added.

*Fog Horn Sound* BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORIIIING
ultra lucky cat @ Oct 10th 2008 3:02PM
I wasn't aware you had a foghorn that so perfectly described yourself, cafeshitto. :p
cafecito @ Oct 12th 2008 1:25AM
Yeah, and surely you have a foghorn that sounds like this: "FAIL"
Ben @ Oct 9th 2008 9:09PM
I was spurned by MHF2, it looked great but the sheer amount of investment required simply to complete even 20% of the game was a lot more time and effort then I really had the time to invest, and the lack of friends to play and show off with put me off of the multiplayer which would have made it a lot better for me. I don't think I'll be picking this up.

wah! wah! wah! the Wii and DS have second rate hardware! wah! wah! wah! this is ALL ever hear from you SONY FANNY BOYS! your argument is as weak as a sand castle buddy! if the ps3 and psp are SO HIGH AND MIGHTY in terms of games and hardware then why aren't they ahead? sure give me the speech about "the casual audience" but you forget that a VERY LARGE AMOUNT of the "casual audience" are "core" gamers who just so happen to have an open mind and don't mind playing casual games. therefore it is the "core audience" that supports ninty and their consoles casual games. denying that a BOAT LOAD of core gamers are the casual audience keeping ninty alive is like denying the fact that your a human being! next time think about what you say FANNY BOY! all sony does is STEAL STEAL STEAL STEAL STEAL ideas from nintendo! HAAAAA!!! whats the matter sony!? to STUPID to think of your own innovative ideas? HAAAA!! good-bye PS-SCRAP!
YouknowmeMH @ Nov 21st 2008 7:24AM
You don't know what your talking about.
This is obvious.
Nintendo is sold to children and families.
Not to core gamers. Those are the people who buy PS3s and Xbox360s. Now be a nice little Wii-tard and leave.
You probably have no idea what Monster Hunter is in the first place, so you wouldn't understand that you can't get the EPIC look or feel out of a Wii.
PS2 did it perfectly. Then PSP followed and did an alright job. But I personally enjoy the controller over the one joystick and buttons thing. Now if it were on PS3 (or 360 even) the graphics and environment of the game would just be breathtaking.
terry @ Oct 14th 2008 1:08PM
MH freedom left me with high blood pressure. The game has one of the biggest learning curves I have ever seen in a game. I have been trying to rank up to MH2 since the winter music conference in 06'. Yeah, that's right!!
It takes forever to get anything and the game cheats in certain parts to make it longer and harder. I just can't beat four horns. No one is around to play with me. This is not the type of game most Americans play. And any review of this awesome game is BS if it ain't part of your life for three month! You can't review this game unless you spend at least 30 hours on it. The game is too vast!!!!! It is enormous!!!!Now, the game becomes MUCH easier once you are aware of what you need. Then the EUREKA factor kicks in. You become one with the game and an incredible self-awareness kicks in. You must at some point go, AHA! And there at that point will you know how to proceed.
Take my word for it. This is one of the most incredible games ever programed in video game history. It is a world class classic.
Pray that I can rank up to MH2 before I retire at 75.

@ YouknowmeMH
damn!!!! this comment is OLD!!! lol anyways like i said! another graphics whore. how about you stfu and stop hating because the DS sells better then the PSP and the Wii better then the 360 and PS3. your just a fucktard who doesn't even know what REAL gaming is! i've been around since the NES days my friend so don't even talk to me about REAL gaming because the meaning of REAL gaming is something your peanut sized brain could not comprehend.
