TGS 08: Terra and Cloud confirmed for Dissidia, roster now complete

After having watched a Dissidia: Final Fantasy trailer in Square Enix's Closed Mega Theater, the final two characters (heroes for Final Fantasies VI and VII) are confirmed to be Terra and Cloud. Gameplay footage was seen for both characters dueling against their respective arch nemesis. Cloud retains his classic look, while Terra dons a more child-like face and better resembles her original Amano design (blonde hair).

With Bartz and Ex-Death confirmed recently, that makes the entire 20 heroes and villains roster complete. Check back with us later, we'll have some more on Dissidia including full hands-on here at PSP Fanboy and full Square Enix Closed Theater impressions over on Joystiq. So keep an eye on both.

If they didn't have Cloud (which would have been hilariously stupid) the Square Enix fanbase would swear off the game as a whole.

But luckily Square-Enix isn't as dumb as a pair of monkeys trying to figure out if each others' poop is chocolate or not.

Um, but Cloud is the hero of Final Fantasy VII; Zack's just a minor character who happened to get a spinoff made about him. Really, what did you expect?

You people DO realize if it weren't for Zack, Cloud's story wouldn't have happened... hell, maybe half of FFVII's might not have happened. Give him credit.

Zack is easily the best Final Fantasy character, nevermind Final Fantasy 7 character.

Even if he's just a (taller) skin for Cloud he HAS to be in this game.

I agree. I always saw Locke as the main character of FFVI (even though I don't realy care about that game). But the game needs a female diagram anyway.

Just accept that it is cloud not zack. Zack is not the main hero in ff7. Dont worry maybe zack will playable as a unlockable characters.

And hopefully the Japanese names? Eh, but I'd at least like a compromise of one less "r" in her name, to break her a bit from sounding like a planet (or rather, a planet sounding like her; no joke, my friends have made that association, assuming it a reference); I mean "Celes" < "celetial", "Relm" < "realm", so "Tera" < "terra". Shame about the blonde hair; maybe we'll get a palette swap?

Wha... Terra the planet name is named after Terra the Goddess... so.. it is a proper name at least. (I'm looking at you TIDUS)

And I like the blonde hair.. the green always looked odd to me.

they've been "Terra" and "Bartz" over here for some time now. But the spelling of they're names is the least of our problems.

So will this be canon? If Cloud had been in his Advent Children attire, it could fit in as after the FFVII, which is where I'd fit it into all the games, after they are completed. Or is it going to be like Kingdom Hearts, just cameos that mean nothing? :(

I seriously doubt this will be anywhere near cannon. But, at this point, does SE really have cannon anymore? With so many retcons and "do-overs" under their belt...

You see, either Zack or Cloud, both of them shared the same dreams, thats my opinion, in the end this game will be one of the "MUST BUY IT", all characters are well balanced, and who knows maybe Zack or Vincent could be unlockables!!!(some of you may ask why Vincent?, well as you see Lucrecia did carry Sephiroth on her woumb ...so lets say they may have something up the sleeve ^_^;;;)
