Want LBP levels to stick around post-beta? Vote!
The fate of countless hours of work are in your hands today. Originally, the plan was for Sony to scrap all of LittleBigPlanet's beta levels and start from scratch when the game releases in a few weeks. Now it seems that they're willing to keep them up, but only if people want that. You can vote for whichever outcome you'd prefer at the official European PlayStation Forums. Simply click "vote" near the top of the LittleBigPlanet forum. There's a chance this is only open to those with a European PSN account, despite the outcome taking effect globally.
The majority of people (84% at the time of writing) seem to be in favor of keeping the content up and we tend to agree. Ignoring, for the moment, the amount of man hours already put in to creating all the content that's available right now, it seems strange to want to launch the game with a clean slate. People will only go and try to recreate their levels again, so why bother? Hopefully with the improved rating system in the final build it'll be easier to discriminate the wheat from the chaff.
[UPDATE] US folks can vote at the official LittleBigPlanet blog. Thanks, The_Icon!

Yes...and all beta uploaders should get a Beta shirt for Sackboy.
rgoff31 @ Oct 9th 2008 9:48AM
Yes they probably should. There are some great level out there and alot of people put way too much of time into them. I know there are slot of crappy ones, but the full release will be full of even more horrible levels.
I somehow corrupted/broke a level I had put 30+ hours into. It won't load/play or copy/publish and was around 40% on the complexity meter. It had been getting stuck but not freezing on choosing pre-made objects or changing materials on item already in the game. I'd switch to play mode and it would be ok for awhile. I'm probably going to be more careful or wait for the full game before I publish any kind of big level.
Amiculi @ Oct 9th 2008 3:29PM
Oooh, I'd hate that. I put 40-ish hours into Night Terrors but was able to upload it successfully. Of course, all of 2 people played it before it fell off the map =P but I'd hate to lose access to it. Filled the meter, and it wasn't even an attempt to do so, even had to cut my ideas short and alter my boss fights to finish it =/

That's an effect of the beta - everything you do in the Create mode is reported back to their servers, so that you can easily use that handy rewind feature. It doesn't work perfectly when there are lots of people playing the beta, it seems.

I think US users should vote here:

I can't imagine the LittleBigComputer level being destroyed. Thats destroying a work of art cause i don't think he/she would bother building it again.
What about SAVE DATA?
Do you we have to reBeat, unlock everything?
Lars @ Oct 9th 2008 2:51PM
The save data will not carry over. But I don't mind unlocking everything again. The tutorials are kinda fun anyways. And I didn't quite got all the secrets in levels 2 & 3 either.
Eric E @ Oct 9th 2008 3:00PM
Yeah i was just working on getting 100% (trick is to fill in BG objects with stickers you have of the same shape [star w/ star etc] That will give you stuff)
But i wanted to know weather i should waste my time with that and watching all the tutorial levels (thought it looks like you can skip them) and i guess if i don't publish a level i'll lose it.
I guess i'll just play other people levels until sunday when the BETA runs out.

NO Problem PS3fanboy
Michael @ Oct 9th 2008 10:47AM
it would b nice if i can keep my levels since it takes forever to get everything perfect and i would not want to do that all over again
4KingL @ Oct 9th 2008 10:57AM
off topic but....wipeout HD patch (1.60) is live...
vahdyx @ Oct 9th 2008 11:04AM
Nah, I would rather have everyone start over!
I'm in beta, and yes some of the levels are great, but I'd rather people start over with their experience and make something better!
That's just me though
j.howlett @ Oct 9th 2008 11:13AM
i think they should keep the levels. they could make a beta creations moon or something.
Ben @ Oct 9th 2008 11:16AM
Please vote. Then we can get credit for listening to the fans when we do what we planned to do all along.
Michael @ Oct 9th 2008 11:15AM

I've got a spare American code if anyone wants it. I don't think that the US codes work in the UK or rest of Europe but someone correct me if I'm wrong. Just reply to this with your PSN ID and i'll send you the code.
benny boy @ Oct 9th 2008 11:30AM
Also, does anyone know if the narrator in the US version of the beta is Stephen Fry or if it's a different person?

I was able to vote on the Euro site with my american log in information (for psn, not PSU). So I think you should be able to as long as you have a psn account.
Skippy @ Oct 9th 2008 11:42AM
But the beta agreement already says they will be staying!
"5) This version does not require a DNS redirect and levels created
here will be available for consumers at launch of the full title."

Should I let jealousy play a part here....Because I didnt get to be in the Beta....Sob...
mercurywa @ Oct 9th 2008 1:17PM
I voted to keep them. I think they need to cull the broken and poorly rated levels, and by that I don't mean "ones with no hearts", but the ones where 20+ people have played yet no one has completed it because of some kind of bug (and said so in the comments).
Pkshields @ Oct 9th 2008 3:56PM
I've also got another LBP Beta code, so since I got mine here, ill give my second one away here too. Just reply to this post with your PSN ID and ill send it to you. Only the one code, and it is a US code.
Mike @ Oct 9th 2008 4:09PM
Hi there I was wondering if you still had the code? If you do would you be willing to share it with me?
My PSN network ID is MikeMel204.
Thanks I appreciate it.
