i just cant afford to buy movies now with all these great games coming out
PSN: John-Paul-Jones @ Oct 12th 2008 10:26PM
Those HD Moods look nice to buy, but I don't think I have enough money left for this month's daily and gaming expenses.
It's a good year for us gamers, but also a bad year for our wallets.
:(

It's going to get even better next week, when The Godfather trilogy tops the list.
I already have it preordered with LittleBigPlanet. I'll get LBP a few days later, but it'll be worth it.
Dartmerc @ Oct 13th 2008 1:39AM
KarlW, didn't the Godfather box set drop a couple of weeks ago? Or was that just the individual films?
jq71586 @ Oct 13th 2008 2:21PM
The Godfather trilogy came out the last week in September. It's sitting on my shelf right now. Definitely a top 5 blu release so far. I suggest you go out and grab it today and not wait until next week. lol jk.
This week I've got Casino and The Matrix Trilogy coming my way.

Poor, poor, Indy. They raped him hard. :( Good to see the Matrix in Blu!
Jon Acheson @ Oct 13th 2008 10:30AM
I liked the 4th Indy, but I am waiting for the inevitable 4-movie box set on Blu-Ray.
Gregorius @ Oct 13th 2008 3:54PM
I completely agree with you Dartmerc. It is too bad most people missed that. I hope they make an Indy V.

no comments on Mongol yet? I haven't seen it, but it's gotten rave reviews!

As my wallet is in pretty bad shape what with all the Oct/Nov ps3 releases, I'm trying to live vicariously through someone else, so please buy Mongol and tell me what it's like ;)

Mongol is great. I would definitely view before buying it though, as most movie goers now think a movie isn't worth watching unless it is entertaining for the entire movie. Not that they are wrong or lesser in their opinions because of that, I just mean that if you go into Mongol expecting Transformers you will be disappointed.
The movie focuses very little on his empire raising (and razing :p) and feels a lot like an "origins" movie. It focuses on his younger years, his coming to power (kinda), and some romance. The movie is also impeccably researched and tries to be as close to history as possible. As such, it is a bit tedious and drags, but I found these parts to be bearable and, actually, quite enjoyable because I felt immersed in the movie and not only like I was learning but almost as if I was EXPERIENCING the history.
Yeah, that sounds really corny, but that was the source of my enjoyment in the film.

I liked Indy. Piss off
Vcize @ Oct 13th 2008 11:32AM
And also didn't watch South Park last week...

Its weird. Majority of these releases, if you go to Netflix, they are showing up as Unavailable which I'm not sure why. but I'm dying to Netflix constantine on Blu Ray and it says Unknown. same with American Gangster and 1408 went live and then Unavailable right after.
JerJerBinks @ Oct 13th 2008 11:02AM
Eastern Promises is one hell of a film, loved it.
pliny5678 @ Oct 13th 2008 11:47AM
I'll be renting Stuck and Poltergeist.
Vcize @ Oct 13th 2008 2:01PM
Has anyone seen any of the Moods/IMAX stuff?
Worth picking up?
Jon @ Oct 13th 2008 5:47PM
Which one is Monica Bellucci in?
john paul @ Oct 14th 2008 3:04PM
I loved American Gangster, second only to the Departed. Definitely buying it, even though its cutting into my Gaming budget.
Evan @ Oct 14th 2008 5:20PM
I'm surprised the Dead Space animated movie isn't being released the same time as the game.
Cornelius @ Oct 14th 2008 6:03PM
"Finally, definitely check out Eastern Promises -- Cronenberg manages again to stay away from deformities of the flesh to bring us an oddly touching tale about the Russian mob in England."
I seem to recall a certain scene where Viggo Mortensen was fighting some Chechen thugs nude, in a bathhouse, and it ends with a dude getting stabbed in the eye.
I don't know what other films you're referring to... the only other Cronenberg films worth watching were History of Violence and Crash (the 1996 film, not the one directed by Paul Haggis in 2004).
I'm surprised no one has mentioned anything about the Ultimate Matrix Collection. Those sequels sucked...
