No Trophy support Saints Row 2

Despite what you might have heard, Saints Row 2 will not contain Trophy support when it debuts tomorrow. A moderator on the official community forums was the one to deliver the bad news. The moderator didn't address the possibility of a Trophy patch at a later date, stating only that that he will keep us updated. Are you guys disappointed? Will this sway you into buying the 360 version? Or will you just forget about this game?

Indeed -- pretty stupid to miss out on a good game just because it doesn't have trophies.

That said, I've never played Saints Row but if MC scores are anything to go by it's a "meh" game.

I will wait to get this game after hearing about the no Trophy support. I was gonna get this instead of LBP but now Iam gettin LBP and waiting for this game to drop in price or buy it used later. Big mistake on their part, I bet they didnt forget to put Acheivements in the 360 version. A$$ HOLES always suckin M$ rooster( put actual term for bird in place).

You're an idiot. Trophies are a relatively new feature for the PS3. It only came out, what, a couple months ago? The main reason most games that have released recently didn't include trophies is because they were already far into development when trophies were implemented and thus did not have the time to go back in and wright code for them so close to their release. Not to mention Sony has not made it mandatory for all developers to use trophies in their games.

I don't think that the excuse, "We're already too far into development" is a viable reason. If that's the case, how come soooo many other developers are putting them into their games that are either out now or within the next week or two.

The game you didnt finish is the dud in this case. Saints Row was actually a good game with a nice refereshing stupidity that was lacking from the latest GTA installment. By the looks the SR2 will be no different.

I dont get why people are hating on the thing soo much. People keep bringing up that the graphics suck, well GTA4 had crappy graphics, the only saving grace for it was its kickass physics.

I also dont get why people are bagging on the trophies. If you dont like em, dont go for them. They arent only for bragging rights, they are for extending playability and they are good at it.

I have to agree with the comments here that it is coming out against some pretty stiff competition, but I hope that it doesnt fail entirely. I know my mates and I will be buying because we got screwed with GTAIV

The problem with people like you b. dash, is that you're so insecure with your masculinity, you force yourself to play games like Saint's Row, Halo, Gears of War, Madden, etc, and steer away from anything that detracts from your "badass" factor. I'm assuming from your stance on gaming that you're either a white kid in suburbia that likes to dress gangsta, a random frat boy who can't tell other people enough how awesomely manly you are, or one of those guys so afraid of anything feminine that you'll punch just about anyone who even suggests that you might not be the manliest man on the block.

If I'm wrong, whatever, but it's stupid to limit yourself to a certain type of game and leave the others "to your daughter".

I'm no immature teenager either. I'm 24. I've made it through college. I'm a successful freelance photographer. The difference between you and I is that I can look past the fact that the mascot of a game is a furry lil' sack creature and admit that although a game might appeal to younger kids as well as adults, it can still be a hell of a game.

Honestly, your teenager comment really confuses me. You claim to have a kid and you're acting like those of us who enjoy LBP are immature, but I've seen this sort of "I only play manly game" behavior in younger kids.

now for Kyle, I commend your reply. But u are sooooo wrong. First off I never said I wouldn't play it, I've played the beta, it's cool, but I did say, I would play it with my daughter, key word "with". Second of all, for ur character rundown, I'm a 23 yr old accountant/gfx designer, never played Gears of War, Hate Halo, and I never play madden. Granted I may have been wrong for the teenager comment, but reread your comment buddy-boy, u just stereotyped white kids and frat boys.

Was never interested in this game. However, I will now rent the 360 version of the game at a later date. I will do the same with Fall Out 3 also since there is no trophy support. I might aswell get the Achievements.

It just goes to show how lazy the developers are by not putting trophies in. By now there's really no excuse.

Wow such negative opinions of Saints Row 2, must be a lot of people that didn't play the first one because the first one was awesome! I just pre-ordered this for PS3 yesterday, no trophies doesn't bother me in the least.

I didn't read the article, but it seems like they just announced the no Trophy support the day before the release date. Why would they be so late? Although I would be more inclined to buy a game that includes Trophies because it's an added incentive, but I don't mind because I would be missing out on the fun gameplay.

Anyways, I'll be picking up this game. As I said before, I don't like GTA IV because it truly feels like I'm actually commuting. I don't want that because if I really wanted to drive, I could do it outside. I could say the same thing about sports games like NBA 2K9 and play real ball outside (which I both love), but somehow GTA IV gives me this bad vibe. Also, the Zombie mode is a pure win for me! =D

yea it makes me mad cause Trophies make me sit and have more of a play through and if it get's trophies at a later date i have to RE DO IT ALL AGAIN and it's annoying to do so ! I pre-ordered the game for 2 reasons cause i loved the first one so i am a fan of it and the 2nd reason Trophies .. but since we are told on the VERY LAST DAY before Trophy's are out i would have took my money back and put it towards Bioshock or maybe Even Dead Space so i can get More replay Value. I have to say if i have to go back and get all this for trophies and their's good games coming out at that time .. i'm gonna be too busy for them they will just have to wait for me to get to them at a later date.

Trophies don't "make" you play the game through again. If you want to play the game again, or spend time finding secrets, then do it. If you're doing it because it "earns" you little pictures of a trophy and a larger number next to your name, just photoshop yourself an image of you at level 289 with a zillion platinum trophies. Frame it to show all your friends, then go back to playing the games you feel like playing for the fun of it.

It's mainly a respect issue for me. They give the 360 crowd what they expect, but not what we PS3 owners expect. Not fair IMO. I'm not saying the game shouldn't be purchased because of it, but because of the lack of respect/support (they said nothing of a future patch) it'd be a bargain bin purchase for me.

I completely disagree with you Davebo. By that reasoning, sandbox games should not have a story line or missions, since, you know, you should be playing them just to play them.

I beat GTA IV. I beat it and hit every single side mission and pigeon. 100%. Now, I might pick up the game every once and a while just to play around in the city a bit, but with no clear goals, incremental or not, I'm not going to have much to do other than blow the crap out of the city, which while fun in its own right, is still not going to keep me entertained for long.

Trophies are a way for me to keep track of what I've done and have goals to work toward after a game's been completely played out. I don't care what my friends do, I don't care if my friends even SEE my trophies, it's just fun to go down the list and finish up everything but the most annoying tasks (I'm no perfectionist - If I start getting bored in the process of collecting a trophy, I won't get it).

I can see why certain types of people WOULDN'T be interested in trophies, why can't you guys admit that there might be a draw other than enlarging game-peen?

I see what you're saying Kyle, but you just said you went through gta4 and completed all the side missions, found all the secret stuff to get 100%. Don't you see? Those are the exact same thing as trophies. You "finished" the story mode, then they gave you a bunch of extra stuff to try to get, which you happily strove to achieve. It's everything that trophies are except without the e-peen.

So the game sucks now because it don't support Trophies? Sounds like Trophy whores to me. There used to be a time when PS3 only owners didn't have the option for trophies and played games anyway. Plus all the reviews for the game came back pretty good. So I doubt that trophies or lack there of played a part in the review process. Every game that comes out is sandbox style is not a clone of GTA.
