Shuhei Yoshida: Gran Turismo PSP on the way
Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi confirmed this back in July, but If you needed further confirmation that Gran Turismo PSP is actually in development, we've got you covered. Speaking at TGS, the head of Sony Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida stated that Polyphony Digital is "working on" a Gran Turismo PSP.
Yoshida attributes the long delay to other titles Polyphohy Digital have been working on, namely Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Gran Turismo 5 for PS3. He was also unable to provide a timeframe for when the game will be released. Yamauchi believes the game won't be out until after Gran Turismo 5 makes its debut, which means PSP owners will have to wait another two years. Sigh.

2 years?!?!?!?!
bintang89 @ Oct 13th 2008 4:42PM
this is old news.

What a joke. This kind of crap is what makes publishers look at the PSP and laugh. If the PS3 takes precedence over the PSP in Sony's eyes (and has a fraction of the installed base), why should developers feel differently?
wem003 @ Oct 13th 2008 4:55PM
Whatever.... If it had shown up within 1 year of the psp launch it would have been relevant. But this company just takes too long for EVERYTHING.
GT5 better be the best game ever made...
Dartmerc @ Oct 14th 2008 9:31AM
Well if you don't want to wait for these games, don't.
I hate it when people bitch about stuff like this, would you prefer they just didn't make it?

Don't be a tool and leave your blog link in your post...
As a PSP owner for years - one of the first things I kept showing clips to all my friends when the PSP was announced was what turned into the vaporware GT mobile.
I believe after nearly 4 years of waiting since the pre-launch video that I and many other PSP owners have a right to no longer care about something that will never show up.
If you read my comment you might be able to infer that "Whatever.... If it had shown up within 1 year of the psp launch it would have been relevant. " means I am not waiting on it.
Dartmerc @ Oct 14th 2008 7:03PM
It was a comment aimed more to rebut "But this company just takes too long for EVERYTHING."
I'd agree the company takes a long time between releases, but apart from us not having a new game to play each year, thats nearly a globally good thing.
Higher quality games with real polish and meaningful advancement between iterations - whats bad about that?
And personally, I'm so glad GT didn't hit PSP within 12 months of launch, imagine if Crisis Core of God of War had, they certainly wouldn't be as awesome as they turned out - sometimes its best to wait for this stuff.
http://ihavetheprincess.wordpress.com - added that one just for you ;)

I think the point I am trying to make is that I've given up hope on this.
They have a history of every Gran Tourismo game taking forever, and I have no faith this will ever show up. Look how long it took for it to show up on PS2, how long it took for prologue to replace that garbage that was GT HD.
Your comment "Higher quality games with real polish and meaningful advancement between iterations - whats bad about that? "
I agree COMPLETELY - and you have a totally valid point based on their PS1, PS2, and so far PS3 history, but the key part of that comment is 'between iterations', and when we haven't seen anything on psp 4 years after the video at launch - it gets old.
Kudo's on getting sourced on ps3fanboy... Really. As far as the first reply in that post, maybe its time to change your password for submission?
:-)

wtf?!?!?!?! >.< NO!!!
strike @ Oct 13th 2008 5:26PM
This was meant to be a launch title, right?
Anywayz, you guyz shouldn't be bitchin at them, atleast they are going to make the game.
I can see why your pissed, definitely, but atleast they promising this game and i think they will keep this promise...............even if it does take forever..................
pixelator @ Oct 13th 2008 6:09PM
Contradict yourself, much? Fans 'shouldn't be bitchin at them' but you can 'see why your pissed.'
FYI, they've been saying this very thing since 2004. Enough is goddamned well enough.
Hashbrown Hunter @ Oct 13th 2008 5:30PM
Well....at least the developers took the time out of their busy schedule to tell us that something is still alive. Unlike DNF devs.
lorddshadow @ Oct 13th 2008 5:48PM
ok guys
which is coming out first?
duke nukem forever or this? at this point, it's too hard for me to tell.
dabamf @ Oct 13th 2008 5:54PM
Ohhh...I don't think any game can be compared with the king of vaporware, baby.
dabamf @ Oct 13th 2008 5:53PM
So three years ago when GT on PSP was a launch title, what they meant was that it would be a launch title for the PSP 3000? Yeah, right...
bryansurvive @ Oct 13th 2008 6:14PM
LIIIIIIEEEEES!!!
FatalChaos @ Oct 13th 2008 6:14PM
Yeah I belive this was suppose to be a launch title, i've been hearing the same thing for almost if not 3 years. I'll believe it when I see it.
Gran Turismo Mobile = a Myth!
pat1202003 @ Oct 13th 2008 7:38PM
I forgot all about this game. I thought it got canceled or something. But I'll believe it's coming out when it is in stores, until then it nothing but a myth.
Joe @ Oct 13th 2008 7:45PM
As much as I want GT on the PSP I think it would be better to make the game as a launch game for the PSP2.
cafecito @ Oct 13th 2008 9:53PM
PSP2 SchmPSP2...
Anyway, the guys at polyphony digital must be the slowest development team, like... ever. That, or it's just one guy.
Jeremy @ Oct 14th 2008 2:40AM
No, I think they just aren't really working on it. First they did Tourist Trophy for the PS2 instead of this. Then they started working on GT5. When they get done with GT5, then they will start working on this.
cafecito @ Oct 14th 2008 11:53AM
Well yeah, but when I said slow developers, I was talking about their work on GT5 and past GT games. I totally agree with you on the PSP one, they surely aren't working on it yet.
Virtuous @ Oct 13th 2008 11:34PM
In 2 years the PSP will largely be irrelevant. They might as well cancel the whole thing now and get it over with.
Philip @ Oct 13th 2008 11:58PM
This should've been out when psp was $300
daniel-kun @ Oct 14th 2008 2:22AM
The PSP version is called "Gran Turismo Forever". When it's done.
TM @ Oct 14th 2008 9:31AM
why wait 6 years just to release 1 game? A crappy game is more likely...
