mine's been installed since 10:25 Central, yeeah baby, I like the features but battery meter still covers clock...
Echnaton @ Oct 15th 2008 1:27AM
Well, mine's updated too, but since the fw-upgrade I lost the possibility to stream media (pics, sfx, vids) from my synology NAS.
Any Ideas? (it has to be the PS3 since my other mediaplayer is still working)
why not the LS2LS7? @ Oct 15th 2008 1:24PM
Yeah, that looks so lousy and it happens every time. That should have been #1 on their bug fix list (not necessarily ahead of new features though).
riche @ Oct 14th 2008 11:50PM
It also gives you a free unicorn.*

^ that made me so sad
Dartmerc @ Oct 15th 2008 1:14AM
I'm still waiting for my box of kittens.
nakedatthecomp @ Oct 15th 2008 1:47AM
maybe we'll be emailed a unicorn beta ;)
Beano @ Oct 15th 2008 3:49AM
@Echnaton: Yes - UPnP sharing with Synology is broken with 2.50 :(
It still works with Tversity so it's a problem with Synology's software. I recommend to post the problem on Synology.com and maybe create a support ticket so Synology get to work on a fix for this.
ill trooper @ Oct 15th 2008 5:27AM
You worried me there for a sec! I had to go test it. Streaming still works on OS X using nullriver's MediaLink...
infinityPlusOne @ Oct 16th 2008 12:49AM
@Echnaton:
I just noticed that my Synology NAS isn't streaming anymore either. It just says "There are no titles" when I try to access any files off it. I tried doing a re-index from the NAS, but it doesn't look like it's going to work. It's too bad too because I really got used to using my PS3 to watch movies stored on my DS-106e.
At least my computer still works.
Echnaton @ Oct 20th 2008 2:30AM
just a sidenote to anybody ... firmwareupdate .0726 should work again (read the forum on synology.com...)
they're going to publish their new firmware next week ...
Echnaton @ Oct 21st 2008 4:04AM
sidenote 2: Synology FW 726 enables streaming again
-jr- @ Oct 14th 2008 11:57PM
First!!!!!! yah!!
Dru @ Oct 15th 2008 12:22AM
First what? Douche?
You guys and this "first" crap need to get lives. I can't how many times I've had the opportunity to reply to something first and have never once thought to do something so juvenile.
The funniest part is that this website takes so long to post remarks that you end up being like tenth and looking even more pathetic than you would have normally.
kingjmy @ Oct 15th 2008 1:17AM
Here's a novel idea: instead of putting yourself on an intellectual pedestal, vote the comment down and go along your merry way. I think that posting "FIRST!! YAH!!" in the 10th comment in a thread is making him look like enough of an ass, so there's really no need to tell everyone about how mature you are.
Rick @ Oct 15th 2008 5:59PM
Douche
ahsayuninew @ Oct 14th 2008 11:50PM
=D already got its!
The account management is very nice, no more stupid browser thing, instead there are xmb icons when you click on it. Still exploring, I am
ahsayuninew @ Oct 14th 2008 11:54PM
=O it pauses videos now when you press the ps button!
fiziks @ Oct 14th 2008 11:58PM
ever part of the trophies have been re-done as well and my theme doesn't support the new auto-shut off menu icon, anybody have a theme that does (besides original)?
ftrunks @ Oct 15th 2008 6:47AM
Yeah I don't quite like that fact it pauses videos when the PS button is pressed....hope they change it back sometime. :/
Slipping_halo@hotmail.com @ Oct 15th 2008 12:00AM
Awsome, just started to download!!! Cant wait!
supersickie @ Oct 14th 2008 11:59PM
Can anyone clue me in about DivX VOD? Noticed this right off the bat, but not sure what exactly it's bringing to the table. I've read up on it and all, but I'm just not sure it's going to really bring anything special to the table for those of us that already use TVersity. Or am I looking at it completely wrong?
Se7enwolf @ Oct 15th 2008 12:08AM
yeah thats new, thats Video on Demand, like whats on digital tv. And im guesing its using Divx video. So a VOD service may be coming!
Hife @ Oct 15th 2008 1:34AM
I don't see this DivX VOD thing. I guess it must be pretty obvious since you noticed it right off the bat, but where is it?
Also, PlayOn is not working for me.
Kspraydad @ Oct 15th 2008 1:35AM
Right now you can't use it as a TVERSITY replacement as the PS3 isn't a DivX Connected machine...I do believe this is step one though.
By registering your PS3 with DivX you'll be able to shift (hardcopy for now) DRM'd DivX file from your PC to PS3.
For an example of DRM'd DivX you can see the two agreements that were recently signed:

charliebronson @ Oct 14th 2008 11:54PM

charliebronson @ Oct 14th 2008 11:55PM

Kspraydad @ Oct 15th 2008 12:03AM

David @ Oct 15th 2008 9:39AM
wow thanks Kspraydad! I always hate Sony can't ever keep their website updated with the latest firmware updates... It's always faster to download it via internet than through the system...I wonder how you manage to offer it like this...anyway thanks again!
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ Oct 15th 2008 2:57PM
thanks alot. my internet at home is on the fritz but i wanted to get in on that video sequencing and power saving. im downloading it now here at school and ill load it when i get home. still curious as to how you got it on here already as Sony's website doesnt even have it up yet. hopefully you didnt give me one that would brick my system or something.....

nakedatthecomp @ Oct 15th 2008 1:49AM

ricky @ Oct 15th 2008 12:06AM
oh Good Lord. the fact that i'm not getting a unicorn has made me so depressed. i guess i'll just have to try and be happy with firmware 2.50. *sigh*
col @ Oct 15th 2008 9:59AM
apparently the unicorn has been put back till 2.51
fiziks @ Oct 15th 2008 1:03PM
the unicorn's been available since 2.40, the developers just have to breed them
Richie_Tozier @ Oct 15th 2008 12:07AM
Cool, hopefully this will fix the background downloading error i've gotten since 2.40.
Eduardoska @ Oct 15th 2008 12:09AM

Just came from work and had to update!

Pete @ Oct 15th 2008 12:15AM
Could it be? I finally get to watch videos on Hulu.com?
sracer @ Oct 15th 2008 12:17AM
Yes, Hulu.com works! You can even use the right-trigger button to zoom in so the video is fullscreen.
Mike @ Oct 15th 2008 12:21AM
Anyone else getting all kinds of "data corrupted" issues now when trying to use PlayOn? Or notice that the video shifts when you try to fullscreen it from hulu.com?
sracer @ Oct 15th 2008 12:23AM
Use the right-trigger button to zoom in on the video rather than click on the "fullscreen" option.
John S @ Oct 15th 2008 12:22AM
I didn't have any problems.
Something else new is when you open the store, an actual "Playstation Store" greeting pops up before the actual store.
LatinoLA1 @ Oct 15th 2008 12:24AM
Awwww, no free unicorn?!?
well at least we get an update for our PS3s :)
WonderlandInc @ Oct 15th 2008 12:26AM
*Yawns* I Just Got Home From Work, And Thought I Would Play A Little Pain Before Bed. Then I Saw The System Update Notice, So I'm Downloading It...Well I Need Bed, Thank The Sony Gods For Automatic Shutdown After Downloaded.
