PSN will receive 'essential maintenance work' today

Our beloved PLAYSTATION Network will down today for five hours for some "essential maintenance work" during the following time: 2PM - 7PM EST / 11AM - 4PM PST. This downtime applies to both the US and Europe. So what are you going to do during those five long, agonizing hours? Come read PS3Fanboy, of course!

I'm gonna assume patch 2.5 will follow after this.
Lega-c @ Oct 14th 2008 10:17AM
It's obvious this is to add the little "redeem Card" button to the store. And we will get the update 2.50 tomorrow.
rbanke @ Oct 14th 2008 10:17AM
Super Mario's wife is working on the PSN?
ocdog45 @ Oct 14th 2008 10:27AM
LOL. Wonder what she thinks of peach.
fiziks @ Oct 14th 2008 12:19PM
apparently network maintanence requires a monkey wrench and.. a candy cane, a level, or is that a sander?
Pablos102030 @ Oct 14th 2008 3:36PM
I think she's building a pipe... Like the mushroom kingdom needs any more of those.
bryant @ Oct 14th 2008 10:19AM

ThePLake0815 @ Oct 14th 2008 10:20AM

BorgDroNeZ @ Oct 14th 2008 10:20AM
These timeframes are confusing as hell. Which would apply to someone in Chicago? Why are they using both Eastern and Pacific times? Can someone simplify for me?
ThePlake0815 @ Oct 14th 2008 10:21AM
because not everybody is living in the USA??? Ever heard of europe??? ......
Mr. Joe @ Oct 14th 2008 10:27AM
you're kidding right? you just add or subtract hours depending on your location. look it up. they're not going to post every time cuz you can't do simple math.
Kspraydad @ Oct 14th 2008 10:32AM
Chicago...my kind of town.
Cornelius @ Oct 14th 2008 10:55AM
Chicago is CST, which is one hour behind eastern time. So for you, PSN will be down from 1pm-6pm.
Sorry to hear about your lack of education, btw.
glafflin @ Oct 14th 2008 11:00AM
It is confusing isnt it... almost as confusing as deal or no deal. that show gives me migraines its so hard to figure out!!
nakedatthecomp @ Oct 14th 2008 11:40AM
I'm surprised you're able to push buttons on your PS3 controller
kentuckyfried @ Oct 14th 2008 1:03PM
hahah...man, you guys are cold.
JaseH @ Oct 14th 2008 2:06PM
Back off guys, no body exels in every single thing they study while in school. Some may excel in Maths & absolutely have no interest in Music or Science.
Just because someone has a hard time with a once in a blue moon subject such as time zones, doesn't mean they're idiots.
I bet most of you didn't even know what the hell you were talking about until you googled it up. Psht.
Give him a break.

They can't quote GMT, as most Americans
a) don't even know what it is, they just know Pacific, Mountain, Mid and East.
b) are too thick to work it out anyway.
Rye21 @ Oct 14th 2008 5:01PM
Give the guy a break will you.
Mr. Joe @ Oct 14th 2008 11:03PM
hey digdug, it's central time, aight?! midwest represent!
and yes, i know how to tell time. sorry, borgdronez..
Andy @ Oct 14th 2008 10:21AM
I'm guessing this is to implement FW 2.50 as it adds features for the official headset which comes out today with SOCOM. However, they chose some pretty poor hours to do it.
Michael @ Oct 14th 2008 10:24AM
There is not enough interesting material to read on ps3fanboy.com that would satisfy for 30 min let alone 5 hours!
gillyy0 @ Oct 14th 2008 5:56PM
Your crazy. There's alot of stuff. And hell if you're bored with ps3fanboy go to xbox360fanboy. And if you get bored there then you're just not a gamer ;]
Alexandra_3259 @ Oct 14th 2008 10:25AM
Yeah ps3fanboy.com doesn't most enough for us to read for 5 hours.
Kspraydad @ Oct 14th 2008 10:32AM
I'll spend my time with the onscreen PS3 keyboard building bookmarks in the browser for 'select' sites that I'll be able to now visit with Flash 9 support.
DavidJuaquin @ Oct 14th 2008 3:43PM
Are you serious and if so how?
The Aggie CEO @ Oct 14th 2008 11:14AM
Flash 9??
Really???
I need proof.......lol
fiziks @ Oct 14th 2008 12:25PM
wow they announced flash 9, kspraydad shoots and scores, nothin' but net
The Aggie CEO @ Oct 14th 2008 11:59AM
oooooh I see now............
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET
BorgDroNeZ @ Oct 14th 2008 11:17AM
Im still confused. 12-5pm central or 1-6pm Central?
ThePlake0815: Those are both US timezones. That is why I am confused.
Mr. Joe: the math isn't the problem asshole. The problem is that those are two distinctly different time frames in two US timezones. Go troll somewhere else.
nakedatthecomp @ Oct 14th 2008 11:44AM
dude, now you're just making an idiot of yourself. if you still can't figure it out, just try and sign on the psn; if it doesn't work, it's at that time! then go do something else!
tyba @ Oct 14th 2008 12:52PM
Wow... just wow...
I don't blame the education system as much as I blame Borg's parents. People are licensed to drive a car but any set of idiots can have a kid.

Dude..

spikeylee @ Oct 14th 2008 11:17AM
Dude, they might be two different time zones, but it's the exact same time. 2pm on the east coast = 11am on the west coast.
I thought basic understanding of how time zones work was taught in school. I still remember it from my 4th period geography class with Ms. White!
Lars @ Oct 14th 2008 2:03PM
Woah, my 4th grade teacher was named Mrs. White too!
Mr. Joe @ Oct 14th 2008 11:17PM
you're really going to call me a troll? i was only laughing at your inability to comprehend the depth of time zones.
it's like we're all here, man.. but at like.. different times. heh heh.
seriously though, it's better to google or wiki stuff before asking such bold questions from a fanboy site.
Chris @ Oct 14th 2008 10:42AM
I agree this is a very bad time to do this, since most people will be picking up Socom today heading home from work/school. Beside that, Now is the best time to be a PS3 owner with all the great games coming out. Ladies and gentlemen, LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
orthonovum @ Oct 14th 2008 1:05PM
nobody will be picking up socom today. it only SHIPS today but wont be available on the shelf till tommorrow.. yeah i know it sucks....
NotSafe4Work @ Oct 14th 2008 10:47AM

I.AM.IRON.MAN @ Oct 14th 2008 11:12AM
and what time would that be GMT? GMT being the time that every timezone in the world is based on... therefore being the only logical timezone to mention. America isn't the center of the world you know... (Offically Greenwich, London is lol)
Rant over... sorry!!!
devilmaker @ Oct 14th 2008 5:10PM
Yeah, GMT rules. England had a massive empire... and discovered America. Don't you dare ignore us. heh.
darthug @ Oct 14th 2008 11:15AM
So if you're in Europe, kiss any online action goodbye tonight. That's 7pm - 12am GMT.
LeetPCUser @ Oct 14th 2008 11:19AM
They probably have to get the system ready to take on the patch tomorrow. Anyone who remembers the last big patch will know why they are doing it.
