PSP Brite is now available in North America
The third PSP redesign is now available in retail stores across the US and the rest of North America. The first PSP Brite pack, which is out now starting today, is the silver Ratchet & Clank bundle. It's a Silver PSP with a copy of Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, a National Treasure 2 UMD movie, 1GB memory stick and an online download voucher for echochrome. The price remains the same as the older bundles at MSRB $199.99.
If you're looking for that other bundle which is the black PSP Brite with the 4GB memory stick, you'll still have to wait for next month in order to get that. The silver pack will be available in all European countries except the UK a day later on October 15. EU countries will also have to wait for the black bundle in November.

which bundle is better?
Gurbinder @ Oct 14th 2008 3:15PM
I really dont understand why Sony would post a title that is more than a year old (almost 2 years infact) now as a package. Same with god of war. They make the package months later, why not release them at the same time? Thats sony for you
Jeremy @ Oct 14th 2008 4:18PM
I guess because Sony doesn't really have anything new to bundle the new PSP with. Their fall hardware bundle was with Madden, of all things
David Black @ Oct 14th 2008 12:59PM
Just in case anyone cares, Amazon is running a lightning deal beginning at right now for the PSP madden pack for $170 with free shipping... So if you were looking for a good deal on a 2000 instead of a 3000 then you better jump on that...
Creciente @ Oct 14th 2008 1:32PM
According to some sources, there will be only a single game in European bundles (no memory card, UMD movie or anything else), and the price will still be €199. We always pay more, get less, and later than others. Is that fair?
Konstantine @ Oct 14th 2008 1:42PM
XD I already picked mine up. Gotta love the latest and greatest. Although, I honestly think my favorite part is the NON GLOSS FINISH. Jesus christ. I was so OCD about fingerprints with my madden PSP...and now I don't have to worry about that anymore.
lorddshadow @ Oct 18th 2008 5:40PM
you got a madden psp and this?
can i have the madden?
Shadow_Modder @ Oct 14th 2008 2:10PM
I have a black PSP phat and was planning to get a new PSP soon.. but my two brothers have PSP Slims, Piano Black and Silver, and I wanted to get a different color. I might end up picking this one though..
@Konstantine: Where did you get it from, and did it come with firmware 5.00 installed?
Konstantine @ Oct 14th 2008 2:43PM
Sadly no, it didn't. Comes with 4.2 I believe. I haven't toyed with the new options much, just watched the Crisis Core opening...And man did it look awesome.
I got it from GameStop...Considering I work there >.
Shadow_Modder @ Oct 14th 2008 2:48PM
Ah, okay, Thanks.
I might end up getting it tomorrow then. Firmware 5.00 should be out by then, I guess.
Ben @ Oct 14th 2008 2:15PM
If I can't get it in white, I'm not getting a Brite.
Konstantine @ Oct 14th 2008 2:48PM
Haha. JP import. There's your white brite
Gurbinder @ Oct 14th 2008 3:18PM

someone: thanks for stating the obvious once again gurbinder =_+
Meh: No problem +_+ glad to be of service
Char6296 @ Oct 14th 2008 2:32PM
Whoo, a day later for us Europeans! Now I'm guaranteed a shiny new Brite for Christmas! My first ever PSP will be so Brite on Christmas! Yay! :)
Lulu @ Oct 14th 2008 3:44PM
I'm torn between getting a PSP Brite or the blue Madden PSP, since blue is my color. But I wouldn't mind a brighter screen. I could care less about Ratchet & Clank and National Treasure 2. The silver PSP does look mighty nice though.
I really wish Sony released the PSP as stand alone consoles instead of in bundles. Or at least give us some better color choices.
Lars @ Oct 14th 2008 3:52PM
I've bought 3 PSP's, only one was in a bundle. So I don't know where you live but there's always non-bundled PSP's available here in the US. You could always import one?
Lulu @ Oct 15th 2008 1:06PM
I live in the US.
What I mean is that they have silver PSP out but it only comes in a bundle same with the blue PSP. I understand the red GoW PSP and the white Star Wars PSPs since those had the images on them. But why not release the sliver or blue PSPs alone instead of with a game. The only stand only PSPs come in black and I don't want a black one. I have thought about importing since the color choices are 10 times better. But it'll be a be last resort since the prices are a little bit of a turn off for me.

Isn't this only the second PSP redesign?
andwhyisit @ Oct 14th 2008 7:49PM
That's what I was about to say!
Lan @ Oct 15th 2008 5:29PM
Yay for minor changes!

Hi, does anyone know when the PSP bundles are going to start appearing in the UK, and how they're going to be staggered? My son's desperate for a silver one, prerably bundled with Ratchet and Clank, but as they're only available in the US, I'm not sure if it will work over here! He hasn't got any PSPs at the moment, so frankly I think any PSP 3000 will fit the bill, but he's not into the FIFA games or Lego Batman (which I know are available now in the UK).
Any hints for a completely non-techy mother??? Would US bundle work over here (he wants to link it with the PS3!).
Thanks all.

Amazing typical Sony anti-sales, anti-USA market ploy.
1). Release the PSP-3000 'Brite' with absolutely zero fanfare. DS goes to Lite and then DSi with new names and lots of press. The PSP goes from 1000 to 2000 to 3000 and a number on the box changes. The DS revisions were more radical, but the PSP models definitely underwent some modification and each one brings new features that could, you know, sell more units if, you know, Sony made even the slightest noise about the new model.
2). Ratchet and Clank has been out a fairly LONG time. They couldn't have picked a newer game to bundle with the new hardware? Many PSP owners already have this game. I for one (if I even get a 3000 at all) will wait until the solo system comes out.
3). Speaking of waiting, silver is my least favorite PSP color. Delaying the release of the basic system for the whopping selection of - count 'em - TWO additional colors is standard Sony anti-consumer BS to milk out as many bundles as they can before 'allowing' us to get the other colors and not buy R&C.
I want to see at least FOUR games I *really want* coming down the pipe for Q1 or I'm holding off on my next PSP. I don't care if it fries eggs. Same with the DSi. If I don't see a bunch of games I'm interested in instead of the typical endless junkware, there's no point in shelling out for the hardware.

I don't quite understand why people are complaining about making a bundle with Size Matters in it. I'd be willing to bet there's plenty of new buyers that would make it their first game purchase anyway. Sure, it's not new, but what does that matter to a new buyer? It's a great game in a popular franchise, has an E10 rating fit for a large audience and has a great online component. That's the perfect game to showcase the PSP's features, in my opinion. Daxter was a good pick as well, but that didn't show off infrastructure play.

The PSP-3000 bundled with Size Matters and a mem card would have been awesome, to me.
However, I bought the God of War PSP based on the fact that Sony kept insisting that there was no new PSP in the works, not ever, never.
So the red PSP will be my one and only purchase of a PSP ever. And luckily, it happened to be the last easily modded PSP, as well, since the most I get out of my damned PSP is from running old NES games on it anyway.
