No Trophies for SOCOM at launch, to be patched later

"The trophies will become available via patch in the coming weeks," SCEA's Jennifer Clark told us when we inquired about the game's strange lack of Trophies. Yes, if you buy SOCOM Confrontation, you'll find that it's absent of the collectible Trophies everyone's been raving about. It's strange that Slant Six wasn't able to include Trophies into the final version of the game, but this may explain why we had so much trouble finding out the Trophy list so soon before the game's release.

We're hoping that the Trophies that are enabled will take advantage of a retroactive rewards system. Undoubtedly, hardcore SOCOM fans are ready to spend hours in the online world of Confrontation. Of course, let Burnout Paradise teach a lesson: perhaps it's best not to expect retroactive Trophies to um ... y'know, work.

My PS3 died (yellow light) yesterday, my warranty has just run out and Sony Australia said they will not touch my PS3 because it is an overseas model and they don’t have the necessary resources to repair it. So I called Sony Hong Kong, couldn’t understand a word, so I emailed them. They will gladly fix it, on the proviso that I need to bring it in person and pick it up in person, as they will not accept any postage or courier. So I need to go to Hong Kong in person to fix my PS3? Great.

Sorry for going off topic, I needed to vent my spleen on losing my 60-gig BC PS3 at this time of the year, I do not even wish this upon my worst enemy, unless said enemy owned an Xbox. Thank you for listening.

I'm not a Socom fan neither did i like the beta but hell i really want the Bluetooth. I just don't want to pay 50$ for it. Neither do i want Socom the game, I just hope the Bluetooth drops it's price to 35$ in the future.

I was a huge fan of Socom, but after the beta. It didn't have that special feel anymore. Couldn't tell you what it was, but I just wasn't enjoying it as much as I did before. So, what I plan to do is; Pick up my preorder that has the headset, and then sell the game for $35-$40 straight and keep the headset. The game alone is $39.99, the headset is $49.99. Saving myself $30 to put towards FarCry2.

First of all the Bluetooth isnt available by itself until November and it will be $50. The game by itself sells for $40 new so you'd be lucky to get $30 trade for it, especially since the games that come with the bundles don't have bar codes on the sleeve (ware it should have one it says NOT FOR RESALE). I don't think gamestop will take them without a bar code...
and as for trophies... I just wish I could get into a f*cking game !!
It is fun though (I got to play a whole 15 min).

This whole system is fucked up! I've emailed them bunches and still haven't heard from them!

Here's my list of problems.

Always have to go to my email and click the confirmation link to post.

Can't login to change my photo

Not all my post get sent to my email for confirmation.

For example, i wrote something about socom trophies 2 times before this and now I'm writing this.

50% of the time I can post with no issues, the other 50% it says it has sent me an email to confirm (despite posting in the returning tab with the right login/pass).

More so, the email they sent they have sent never actually comes to me, I received it once and that was the first ever time I posted, since then it's just a temperamental commenting system that is on it's period.

I have the same drama, Chrome remembers my email and password but I still need to confirm the email *every* time. But for some reason, 360fanboy remembers me and I never have any issues. Pity that those guys don't talk about Playstation or i'd hang out there more.

I would like trophies and in-game access to music while playing any game set in stone. But I guess I have to wait for an in-game xmb redesign for the latter to happen.

trophies aren't the only things missing from the game. the menu is the booklet is completely different than in game. oh yeah and the servers blow.

The beta came out 2 weeks before launch date and it was glitchy as hell. At least they got their priority straight and try to fix the bugs instead of add pointless trophies to extend your e-penis.

I mean, what game lags in the menus?! If you can't even get that right then you have a problem. You can only lean with the motion sensing which means you'll twist your hands in weird ways while trying to shoot. The over the shoulder option is useless since it your character blocks off 1/3 of the screen. Crouching doesn't work half the time. The list goes on, the whole thing is unpolished.

I know, it's beta but it's 2 weeks before launch and I doubt if they can fix them all before it's released. This game is created by the PSP team not the PS2 team which explain why it's all crap.

Well I got SOCOM only for the headset since personally I am not a fan of the series. But that does suck that the trophies haven't come out at launch and who knows when the game will be patched. But its alright because once Bioshock comes out there will be a bunch of easy and fun trophies to get.

No trophies and you can't even play the game because the servers are all screwy. What a debut Sony is giving SOCOM for the PS3. I bought this game today ith the bundled headset and got roughly 4 minutes of actual character customization and get bumped off.

Check out the their own/SOCOM forums and take a gander at failure at the highest levels as legions of people can't even log into the servers hence staring at a press start screen as there is no offline play or even LAN. Nice. I wonder how long before they fix this so I can actual play it.

Trophies are nothing compared to actually not being able to play the game.

I don't even go to the store to buy games anymore unless they give me a trophy for buying the game. If developers are too lazy to give me a trophy for buying the game, then they don't deserve my support.

anyone else annoyed at the fact that even though the instruction manual clearly lists (and describes) a "Quick Match" mode (a la Auto Matchmaking), it is nowhere to be seen in the game! The only option I can select is "Custom Game"...

This is a bit ridiculous.. I can see how a publisher/developer/whatever will release updates or patches to improve the current game to make things run smoother (lag/graphical issues/etc.). But to release a patch to implement a feature that SHOULD be in the final product (ie listed in the manual) is simply... I'm at a loss of words.

Yeah, indeed. There are things completely different from the manual and the game. Even the instructions for the head set are pretty vague. They needed to add another page with step by step pictures.

today my roommate bought an xbox 360 arcade and sent in for the 20 gig hd and 3 months of xbox live for a total of $230.

today, i bought socom witht he headset for $60.

guess what we played all night because sony cant release a game that actually WORKS the day its released?

the headset is awesome and the firmware that supports it is polished.

socom, however, is a broken beta rushed to ship on time (sort of,.... its already been delayed like crazy). i played 2 rounds today which were both laggy and there is NO quick match option... i have to search for servers myself. its a major pain in the ass.

please stop passing betas off to the custom sony? obviously people love your stuff - there were 10s of thousands of people trying to play this game today and barely any could. what a major SNAFU sony.
