Great update! But, I thought I saw somewhere that the RSS newsfeader was going to be enhanced so that it can read text? I haven't tried that yet but was curious if anyone has.
Daniel @ Oct 15th 2008 2:05AM
sweet, downloading now!
Wayne @ Oct 15th 2008 2:05AM
Your firmware download link is broken. Still uploading the file?
Wayne @ Oct 15th 2008 5:10AM
It's ok, u fixed it.
Wayne @ Oct 15th 2008 2:17AM
saving password, bury me.
Iddy @ Oct 15th 2008 2:41AM
Here i was thinking redistributing the update was against the terms and conditions..
Don @ Oct 15th 2008 2:49AM
"PlayStation format software can now be output in interlace format on a connected device."
Does this mean.... UMD games?
"The sleep timer feature can now be used under [Music]."
If these features are what they sound like, then this could be one of my favourite updates in a long time.
rith @ Oct 15th 2008 10:45AM
It means PSX games.
FatalChaos @ Oct 15th 2008 3:00AM
Maybe it's because I have a PS3 but i'm not impressed with this update. Like always I was hoping for a screen shot feature :(.
cafecito @ Oct 15th 2008 3:03AM
Background colors seem different too. Gonna try it out now :D
Angel Mass @ Oct 15th 2008 3:17AM
"PlayStation format software can now be output in interlace format on a connected device."
"PlayStation format software can now be output in full-screen size on a connected device."
What this two exactly mean?
rith @ Oct 15th 2008 3:42AM
Its for connecting the PSP to the TV to play games, better compatibilty (you could only do it with a certain type of cable before).
You can now play PSX games full screen.
If you have a phat, you can't do it.
someone who knows his tech (and PSP) @ Oct 27th 2008 8:03PM
well actulley the first one i have no freak of an idea but the second 1 means that now the psp can play videos and etc. on a tv (with the cable of corse) on a tv in full screen not only a fraction of the screen like before. go to the psp website (not the store) and you should be able to find the psp update section there scroll to the bottom and you can go to another page with more in depth about the updates, and thats where a comparison of before and now of the psp broadcasting on a tv Glad to help!
Cycosuicide @ Oct 15th 2008 3:24AM
Damn. It actually works. Downloading demo content from the store onto my psp. Finally, a Mac user has access to store content.
drdre74 @ Oct 15th 2008 8:42AM
Mac users can get some love now. lol! Yeah I hated i couldn't upload on my mac. Can you log into a JP or UK account on the PSP store? Well I guess I'll have to wait a few days or weeks and see if M33 comes out!! Knowing my luck dark_alex won't make it.
Mark @ Oct 15th 2008 10:18AM
you're a mac user?
it's ok, we all make bad decisions here and there.
mike @ Oct 15th 2008 4:31AM
ok so it means that psp-2k users can play games on older TVs?
jalannom @ Oct 15th 2008 6:38AM
I need to know this as well.. does this apply to 2000 version as well or does it only apply to the new brites?
So, instead of component cable, I could use regular AV out cable to play this on my old TV?
djratchet @ Oct 15th 2008 8:45PM
It means that 2K PSPs can play PSX games (not PSP PSN games or UMD) using the AV out cables. I just tried it with Crash Warped, works fine.
ignacio @ Oct 19th 2008 7:15PM
can you paly UMD games in an old tv with a psp-2000 or a psp-3000? it's not clear
Brian @ Oct 15th 2008 4:32AM
Hooray for download links disappearing mid-transfer...
:(
Wayne @ Oct 15th 2008 5:10AM
PSP PlayStation Store doesn't work for me. DNAS error.
Wez @ Oct 15th 2008 6:09AM
Same error here, Australian Store, what store are you accessing
Wayne @ Oct 15th 2008 6:54AM
Aussie. I guess it really is US only :(
Why do I bother supporting Sony...
Hashbrown Hunter @ Oct 15th 2008 8:14AM
Hopefully other regions will be launching their stores soon. I know EU is also launching their store today, so I guess all you can do is be patient.
smi04 @ Oct 15th 2008 10:08AM
I'm in Aus and mine hasn't had any problems. The AU store even has the PSone Sheep available now, which was previously EU or UK only.
Wez @ Oct 15th 2008 4:47PM
Aussie store working for me now, guess I was a little to quick off the mark.
milespieri @ Oct 15th 2008 5:49AM
Is there any way to set up multiple Playstation Store accounts on a single PSP? I put in my Japan Store details, saved them, went there and got some goodies, then when I tried to log into my US Store account I got some message about 'not being able to use another email account' on my PSP.
Michael Dufour @ Oct 15th 2008 6:07AM
I've had the same problem with US content :o(
taximan6430 @ Oct 15th 2008 7:20AM
Great update! I used the store already, and am quite pleased with the quickness of the downloads. They're super fast. Thanks Sony! What happened to the new keyboard option though? Any idea's?
Kspraydad @ Oct 15th 2008 7:43AM
In Keyboard mode hit select to choose between old and new style.
Hashbrown Hunter @ Oct 15th 2008 10:31AM
QWERTY KEYBOARD! F**K YES!!!
aj @ Oct 15th 2008 1:25PM
I second that. Why the hell was the PSP's original text input so very, very, very bad?
ignacio @ Oct 15th 2008 7:59AM
I think that we can play with the psp-2000 connected to a tv in interlace format.. so we don´t have to really buy psp-3000 to do it....
Kilo720 @ Oct 15th 2008 8:21AM
best fwd ever
and i love this this new xmb wave
BloodlustSweden @ Oct 15th 2008 8:33AM
Does this work for european PSP's?
I bought mine in Sweden.
AuricomPilot @ Oct 15th 2008 8:49AM
OK this is great but what about the flash video I heard about some time ago? I have a co worker with an iPhone that needs to be shown the PSP is the superior device...Youtube would help alot!!!
farfisa @ Oct 15th 2008 9:30AM
Even the iPhone doesn't have Flash. Google starting transcoding all Youtube videos to H.264 so the iPhone could play them (and I'm sure there were other reasons too). Makes me wonder though if Sony could more easily add the same YouTube functionality that's in the iPhone than adding an updated Flash player.
Hashbrown Hunter @ Oct 15th 2008 10:35AM
The flash announcement was for the PS3, not PSP. And I doubt PSP is getting any upgrade anytime soon.
required @ Oct 15th 2008 12:20PM
If you have a PS3 you can pull it up on your PSP remotely and view flash video or whatever else (Life with Playstation, Folding, ect) . Works amazingly well. Your PS3 on the go, the only PS3 game that works remotely though is Lair (and PSX titles).
lorddshadow @ Oct 15th 2008 7:56PM
@ Required
i believe the pixeljunk series supports remote play too.
thrasher @ Oct 15th 2008 10:34AM
Yippeee! another firmware update!!!! Ummm any chance Sony could maybe release some games now?? or is the extent of the psp's software going to continue to be firmware updates. lol
required @ Oct 16th 2008 11:36AM
this store has a lot of games, do you already have them all?
thrasher @ Oct 16th 2008 12:16PM
actually im at a loss for some games. there are alot of good ones but most have been hacked up and made way too portable for me. and im a pc gamer so i have a hard time with the way they changed and chopped up the format of alot of games. ok like dungeon seige on the psp it was horrrible the camera was way to close it was easy to to kill enemies b4 they even came on screen. thats no fun. FF sucked i played everyone thats come out, i didnt think it was possible to make one worse then 8 and 1 or 2 releases every few months while japan is getting loaded down with games AND HARDWARE we never see is just not right
Hashbrown Hunter @ Oct 15th 2008 10:39AM
You can pick an Avatar now! Go to Account Management then account info, then avatar.
Conor @ Oct 15th 2008 10:41AM
I wonder how long it will take for it to be hacked by the m33 crowd...
thrasher @ Oct 15th 2008 10:55AM
not long! with sony's continued lack of hardware and software support in the US, is it even any wonder why the thing is continually hacked open or even that it will happen? I think its the coolest thing since my sega game gear but they continue to ignore the US consumers and im sorry i bought it on hype alone without noticing all the things the American side is not getting . at least the gear had a lousy TV tuner lol
TM @ Oct 15th 2008 12:35PM
nice update. now release flash 9, in-game xmb and screen capture support
Devin Hudson @ Oct 15th 2008 12:51PM
So, with a composite cable can you now play software in interlace mode?
Bryan @ Oct 15th 2008 1:16PM
theres an extra i on playstation.
