Would you kindly download BioShock DLC on November 20?
The PS3 version of BioShock has a few surprises. Not only does it have a new difficulty mode not found in the original, and a trailer for the upcoming BioShock 2 -- it also grants access to exclusive DLC. The "challenge room" pack will be available about one month after the game's retail release: November 20th. No word on how much it will cost, and how extensive the content will be.

Oh, I thought this was included on the disk...
kentuckyfried @ Oct 19th 2008 3:01PM
If it's any indication, it's being made available on the 360 as well? So it's timed exclusive from all appearances.
Smitty @ Oct 19th 2008 4:57PM
Yeah... this smells scammish to me. They had been announcing for a long time (until recently) that the challenge rooms were part of the PS3 version. If we suddenly have to pay for them...
It's bad enough we get the game a year late and have to pay full price...
Replica23 @ Oct 19th 2008 6:00PM
$60 is too much for a 14-month old game that doesn't offer anything new out of the box. Other year plus old games that sell for full price generally include additional content as a substitution for a late release.
Steve Childs @ Oct 20th 2008 4:31AM
@ Replica - Its only too much if you've already played the game on another format. For those who haven't (like me), its perfectly fine.
If it wasn't for PES 2009, Motorstorm. LBP and Dead Space within the next few weeks, I'd pick it up. I'll probably wait until its out on Budget! Not because of the cost, simply because I probably won't have the time to play it until then!
kentuckyfried @ Oct 19th 2008 3:01PM
It's also possible they are buying time, perhaps having missed a deadline, wanting to improve quality, etc.
Phizzy @ Oct 19th 2008 3:08PM
Title made me cringe.
PSN: Puselva @ Oct 19th 2008 5:14PM
Likewise.
Familyguyrokz @ Oct 19th 2008 3:14PM
Ya made a mistake thar in the toitle. Now would ya koindly pick up a crobawr or something?
bluesky_v2.01 @ Oct 19th 2008 3:23PM
A man chooses, a slave obeys!
Neato @ Oct 19th 2008 3:33PM
Well iam not buying if this thing it a time exclsuive, I want full exclusivity for my 60 bucks on this old game...
Ryan @ Oct 19th 2008 5:09PM
I don't even get this comment. If it's a good game, what do you care if it's exclusive or not?
-Jad- @ Oct 19th 2008 4:28PM
What I know is I'm going to wait a little to pick up the game. But, at soon as I can I'm absolutly thinking to pick upa copy and grab those challenges if include extra trophies.
Shashwat @ Oct 19th 2008 4:50PM
I just beat Bioshock on the 360 today. I encourage everybody to play it. the PC and 360 versions are cheaper though so if you have either get Bioshock on that platform. IT's great that Ps3 owners also get to experience the great game that is Bioshock. Now would you kindly get to playing the game.
Chris. Simply @ Oct 19th 2008 4:50PM
What happened to releasing games with all of their content already on the disc? PS2 managed it....
maxpontiac @ Oct 19th 2008 4:51PM
Will purchase the DLC if it is worth it.
freeblue @ Oct 19th 2008 5:25PM
wow.. you buy the game (after a year at that) at full price, and you then have to pay again for the DLC? milk milk milk milkmilk.
4 months later it will be annouced for the 360 no less.
linebeginstoblur @ Oct 19th 2008 8:23PM
Would I kindly download and pay for DLC to a game that's full price after a year and that helped start the trend of themes for the PS3 that you have to buy instead of getting for free?
Fuck BioShock. I guess I'll just have to wait another year until it makes Greatest Hits, if it even sells enough to do so, and I'll probably be busy with other games too. I mean, fucking seriously, they couldn't have just sold it at even $50 or something?
Shannin @ Oct 19th 2008 6:40PM
gonna rent from gamefly, i should be able to beat the game pretty quick. i got Bioshock for windows but it never worked in my comp and then i bought a mac soo....
anyway i probably wont buy the dlc.
Ballard @ Oct 19th 2008 9:48PM
this is definatlely some bull shit yes, pay for DLC, full price for an old game.....yes, however I'm one of the few that hasen't played the game more than the demo so I will be picking the game up regardless, as for the DLC...most likely not
bobcon88 @ Oct 19th 2008 9:57PM
Got bioshock for PS3 on friday just beat it on HARD, at the min i have 53% done on trophies not bad
ChocoDK @ Oct 19th 2008 10:40PM
I actually am quite shocked by this. From my understanding the PS3 version was supposed to feature the Challenge Room and also have the DLC that was released for the 360 actually on the disc for the PS3 version all included. I have already played and beaten it on the 360 and would highly recommend it to anybody who has never played this game. I will also be renting it purely for the trophies and to see how the PS3 version is compared to the 360 version.
But I am quite disgusted at the way this Challenge Room thing is going to be sold as DLC. I think that more developers should take an example of what Criteron has done with Burnout Paradise. This is why I hate DLC. Don't announce DLC before a game has even hit shelves. Especially a year old+ game for that matter being released at full price.
Phizzy @ Oct 19th 2008 11:56PM
The PR people have said they know people would hate it if the DLC costed anything. So it's either going to be free or it'll be cheap. they'll get no sales and they'll just kick themselves repeatedly.
Jeff @ Oct 20th 2008 8:49AM
Lets all buy LBP and skip this to teach those bitches at the KGB a lesson!
Dembonz @ Oct 20th 2008 8:49AM
Bullshit! I was looking forward to this release, but 2K went and F*CKED it all up.
And it's not just excluding the extra content from the disk, it's shoddy port. Yes the gameplay, atmosphere, and story are intact but everything else is sub-par, unacceptable.
This title either should have been pushed back till next year or been $29.99.
lame.
Deaddy @ Oct 20th 2008 12:43AM
If they charge money for that DLC, people will be pissed off. And it will still sell. It really should be free of charge, considering they had hyped this feature and lead us to believe it was included in the $60 price tag.
kentuckyfried @ Oct 20th 2008 2:55AM
Why is everyone jumping to the conclusion that it's paid DLC? It could easily be a free addition (just like the suits in Dead Space).
kentuckyfried @ Oct 20th 2008 8:49AM
Considering the price's still $60, if they do charge ps3 owners for the DLC, I'm going to boycott it, they might as well ask us to bend over and take it up the ass while they're at it.
They must already know that anybody fanatical to play it the first time already played in on the 360 first unless their marketing team is retarded.
kentuckyfried @ Oct 20th 2008 4:23AM
test
kentuckyfried @ Oct 20th 2008 4:24AM
Why is it that comments sometimes immediately post, and other times, I have to click a link? Is it based upon the length of the comment or the obscenities that might be included in the comment? *sigh* garbage.
kentuckyfried @ Oct 20th 2008 4:25AM
ah, it would most certainly be the swear word filter, lol.
foolkiller79 @ Oct 20th 2008 4:14PM
Am I the only one that finds it ironic that people get angry when discussing the cost of a game built around the philosophy of Objectivism?
Fane @ Oct 21st 2008 6:23PM
LOL
The_Panman @ Oct 30th 2008 9:39PM
The extras in the DLC are a handful of bronze trophies and a silver one for rescuing all the little sisters.
You can see this when you compare trophies with another person on the PSN, its kind of a hidden thing that doesn't show up when you view your trophies the normal way only when comparing.
