LittleBigPlanet out in Europe 'no later than' week of Nov. 3rd

Sony has seen fit to update us with a less vague (but not by much) release date for the Qur'an-tastic LittleBigPlanet in European territories. While the assumption was that the week-long delay in America would be mirrored in Europe (why wouldn't it?) it seems that may not be the case. The official line is that the game "will start to appear in stores no later than the week commencing Monday 3rd November in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, on a country by country basis."

"We appreciate all the enthusiasm surrounding this much anticipated title and we would like to thank PlayStation fans for their support and understanding," Sony continues. We're curious to know exactly what "no later than" means. Best case scenario is that the game will suffer only a week delay. Worst case is two weeks. Really, it could be worse. You could be stabbed.

[UPDATE] SCEE has confirmed that the UK release will now be November 5th. Now let's all forget about this LittleBigDelay and move on to other games for the next couple of weeks.

That's a stupid reason why not to buy a game. Picture it in Sony's eyes, if they didn't do something about it they'd proberly have a bunch of pissed off people but if they do do something they are gonna have a smaller lesser group of people (yourself and others likeminded) not buying the game because they are "bowing" down.Either way they can't fully win.

Would your opinion change if the game had a mention of something to do with Christains etc and they decided to change the game because of that?

Yeah I preordered from there too. Though if they will withdraw it too, I'll probably cancel it and try to get a copy from my local store that advertised LBP on today's paper.

what really befuzzles me, is that that guy is infact a muslim. So theyre essentially being offended by their own songs. I dont mean to be dissrespectful, but surely thats asking for trouble?!

The thing to keep in mind is that Muslims, as people of other faiths, have differing levels of adherence to their faith. Some listen to music others do not, etc. But I do think he should have known better and never sampled the Quran into his music to begin with. But such is life.

And contrary to popular belief, we don't go around looking for things to be offended by. I would have been ok with this song being included, as I would be playing the game with the music off anyway. Living in the west you learn to adjust yourself to your surroundings otherwise you wouldn't be able to leave your house.

That being said, they did the right thing and as a result earned by pre-order instead of me waiting to get it used.

wtf is with you?! I know it hurts so close to release, i even had a weeks holiday off from work to sink my teeth into it. It sucks but its ONLY 2 weeks max!

Sony made the right call here imo. While it down right sucks, causing offence to people is completely against the spirit of LittleBigPlanet, and for something as simple to change as a song, it makes senses especially as it only causes a relatively SHORT delay. This is not the first time this has happened either. It happened to COD4 aswell, it just didnt hit the press in such a big way. Did you not buy that too?

Its not like there arent any other great games coming out to do us over for that week or 2!

You don't understand. The PlayStation brand is very popular and respected in Middle Eastern nations. Sony's decision was a wise and professional one in my opinion. Anyone who thinks that Sony made the wrong choice or that any other company in their position wouldn't do the same thing is either ignorant or stupid.
