Prince of Persia Classic will be available on the PlayStation Network this Thursday. The downloadable game is a revamp of the original Prince of Persia 2D game, rendered in a new 3D engine. Not only are the character designs and animations new, there are newly added traps, puzzles and enemies. For those that enjoyed Bionic Commando Rearmed's 3D reinterpretation of a 2D classic, this might be worth a look.
I used to have the original Prince of Persia on my IBM PS/2. It had a 286 processor that ran at a whopping 10 Mhz. Sweet game. I haven't played the remade version but it looks cool. By the way, am I the only person who doesn't care about trophies? I could give a fuck less about trophies. If I go through a game and beat it, I know I did, because I was there. I just don't get this trophy shit.
Thats because you dont have youre real friends on the PSN... Its in the nature that we need to compete against each other. youre price for been a player? trophies. Sometimes you cant trust your friends when they tell you they finished a game or who finished it first...if you dont have that instint of beating youre friends or even people you dont know... then youre missing something that has been in games since the beginning....HIGHSCORE!!!!!!
Some people don't play games for competition, but for entertainment. I would much rather play a co-op game with my buddy than attempt to get every trophy that been released to make my E-peen look bigger than his. Trophy whoring is no different than MMO grinding. You sink the time into doing it, but in the end does the result really mean anything?
Yeah.. Sure it will be.. like Rad Baron Online was.. or like the Booty game was.. I don't really trust PSN Store game dates much anymore, but it would be nice if the title hits.
I have this on the 360 and its well worth it (yeah, I equally enjoy my PS3 and my 360, so sue me). If you haven't played it and you like side-scrolling platformers, you should definitely check it out.

Comparing the games does not do Prince of Persia justice. One is a classic run-and-jump platformer with challenging levels, the other is a swinging-around-while-being-shot-at platformer with awkward controls.
I agree, I think comparing this to Bionic Commando isn't necessarily a compliment--it's assuming everyone *liked* Bionic Commando. Playing that aggravating demo indicated to me that I value my time a lot more now than I did when I was a teenager back in the 80's, sitting around the house all summer with nothing to do. I guess, back in those days, bang-your-head-against-the-wall repetition was a tolerable way to slowly progress through a game. Not saying I want things to be easy, but wow, I guess I had insane levels of patience back then.
I have far fewer hours to burn these days with a job and a family to raise. I want a game to reward me for the time I spend on it, not punish me repeatedly until I finally succeed, only to die soon after, just before reaching the next checkpoint. Most 80's games are good for about 10 minutes of nostalgia, in my opinion, as are their remakes.
What I wanna know is if there's gonna be a patch for trophies or not? If not, then I'll probably buy the game on Thursday. If so, then I'll wait till the patch comes out.
I just hate getting a game then beat it and find out ohhh there patching trophies 4 weeks later, i would rather wait and play the patched version with trophies when its still fresh.
