Recalled LittleBigPlanet copies selling for up to $250
It makes us sick to our stomach to hear that people who've snagged early copies of the now recalled LittleBigPlanet are selling the coveted discs on eBay. To make matters worse, some of these resellers have an asking price for up to 400% over the MSRB at $250. That's a ridiculous extra amount to pay for a game that's not even delayed that long.
With a reworked October 27 release date for North America confirmed, and Europe guaranteed the title by the week of November 3, we urge gamers not to give into these appalling resellers and just wait out the extra few days. It's really not that long compared to other delays we've seen in the past.

I have an early copy and I'm not gonna sell it :) It's great BTW :)
glpoop @ Oct 20th 2008 9:36AM
Hey i dont think there are selling for $250 cause people are impatient, its probably a collectors item if not that many were out there. And dont blame the sellers its the stupid bidders who want to pay outrageous prices. It works both ways and if there are people crazy enough to pay that much why is that wrong? More blame goes to the bidder
MrEverdred01 @ Oct 20th 2008 10:50AM
Exactly. It's a collector's item. getting exposed to the Qu'ran in a language they don't understand is a luxury that only $250 can buy.
Ayman @ Oct 20th 2008 12:15PM
So what do you call people who put these on Ebay
http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/05/21/it-has-begun-mgs4-bundles-on-ebay/
koehler83 @ Oct 20th 2008 9:37AM
You dont honestly believe people are paying above MSRP to avoid waiting an extra week or two, do you?
The moment it was recalled, those discs became a collector's item. Some people are willing to pay stupid amounts of money for stupid things. What is sickening about that?
Stoo @ Oct 20th 2008 9:41AM
Why get bent out of shape about this? If people want to buy it for that price, thats their perogitive. Don't blame the sellers. Its not like its the same as people buying multiple Wii's when they are in short supply and selling them to make a profit to people who can't get them.
jgpliskin @ Oct 20th 2008 12:15PM
Damn right. 'Take a chill pill' Majed.
Gaucho @ Oct 20th 2008 9:46AM
I had pre ordered it on Amazon, but since the change of release date it now says November 4th instead of October 28th. I have no idea what thats about. Anybody else in this predicament or know what's happening there?
Pumapayam @ Oct 20th 2008 10:30AM
I just checked mine 5 minutes ago, it says it's shipping October 27th, even though the main page says Novembers 4th. I pre-ordered mine on October 3rd.
Gaucho @ Oct 20th 2008 10:45AM
Thanks. I pre-ordered mine a few hours before the change of date so I'm not sure what's going to happen but I have a few other games to keep me busy while i wait.
Panathas17 @ Oct 21st 2008 3:16PM
Boca Juniors for life man!!!
rgoff31 @ Oct 20th 2008 9:53AM
Supply and demand, very simple, if some people have lots of money they can do very silly things with it. If it becomes a collectible I'd sell it for a profit and just by a censored version.
TimBob @ Oct 20th 2008 11:02AM
I had a copy in my hand Sunday morning (12:05 AM while picking up Rock Band 2) but the silly register at Wally World wouldn't let the cashier sell it to me. Since they had such a large stack of the games I am going to stop by again tonight at midnight and try to nab me one.
Andrew @ Oct 20th 2008 9:59AM
I'm definitely not interested in selling my copy. It's awesome, even without the LBP servers being up yet.
tom @ Oct 20th 2008 10:00AM
Shouldn't the disc be exactly the same? The offended "Muslims" told them what to do-an online patch. So there is no reason to change the disc content at any point. Unless they are going to man up and put a mohamed sack boy in.
Mr. Joe @ Oct 20th 2008 10:49AM
your comment is inappropriate. to answer your question, no, the discs won't be the same. they'll have data removed compared to the original discs. however, with the patch, the only way to use original discs would be without an internet connection which defeats the purpose of the game. secondly, i don't know why you put muslims in quotes but stop being counterproductive on this process. you're insulting and being offensive. if you would man up, you'd be more accepting of this process and try to understand the perspective of the companies involved.
Atomu @ Oct 20th 2008 3:20PM
um, what? they could totally do an online patch. Which they probably will. I doubt they will change all the disks, they are just holding off on releasing it until the patch is ready, most likely, as they can't release it with that song. A patch could tell the game to use a different song in place of that one. And people sharing levels online would have the internet, so there is no fear of people being unable to download the patch who are making levels.
If you download the patch, the data is on your ps3. and it works together with the disk. Kind of like a save file, or any other patch for other games. Why couldn't you use the disk? Your logic confuses me.
No idea what your smoking, but I want some.
mslim @ Oct 20th 2008 4:44PM
Muslims would start killing off people from Sony if the content was not removed.
reakt @ Oct 20th 2008 10:07AM
Yes, as glpoop says - the original discs are now collectors items. Just think what they will be worth in 20 years from now!
Vidikron @ Oct 21st 2008 1:53AM
Probably not $250.
farfisa @ Oct 20th 2008 10:07AM
I'd keep it if I got an early one, but I definitely wouldn't buy one on eBay--the game'll be patched day 0, so you won't even get a different version of the game.
Kellian @ Oct 20th 2008 10:22AM
Why do bloggers keep confusing the fact that the game is now shipping the *week of* October 27th, with the idea that the game is actually coming out on the 27th?
Antagonist @ Oct 20th 2008 10:33AM
It's not just bloggers
SleeplessKn1ght @ Oct 20th 2008 10:22AM
Capitalism FTW!
Steven @ Oct 20th 2008 10:36AM
Haha...this is exactly what I was going to say. Don't know if you're sarcastic or not, but I'm serious. Where there's a market for something, the actual price is what somebody is willing to pay.
Good for the lucky ones who got it early.
SleeplessKn1ght @ Oct 20th 2008 10:38AM
Yep, I'm serious. The only reason something costs what it does is because someone is willing to pay that much for it. Why is the seller considered greedy when there are buyers who don't have guns to their head making the purchase?
Vcize @ Oct 20th 2008 10:28AM
"Sickening", Majed?
Sounds like someone is a wee bit jealous that some folk have absurd amounts of disposable income to spend on this kind of stuff, and you don't. That's an issue to take up with your employers at Joystiq, not your readers at Joystiq.
I wish I had those gobs of money too, but that doesn't mean I'm going to get all bent out of shape about it. There are just as many people that think spending $60 on a videogame (and thousands of dollars a year) is as much a waste as spending $250 on one, they're no worse than you. People can spend their money on whatever the hell makes them happy, that's how capitalism works.
Nick @ Oct 20th 2008 10:43AM
So will the original version definitely still work online (ie. connect to the official servers)?
Popfrogs @ Oct 20th 2008 10:35AM
Collector's items bring more money than normal items.
In other news flashes, water is wet, sky...blue.
ExMcCloud @ Oct 20th 2008 10:43AM
Sigh....Jsut wait a week...That is all
j.howlett @ Oct 20th 2008 11:01AM
someone promised to order it for me online before the recall/delay. when i heard about the recall i thought about trying to get one since i know people in different retail chains that i might could get a hook up from if i ventured outside. then i remembered gta vice city. my brother got that game at launch and i had game saves at several points on my memory card. i got the double collection before san andreas launched and my saves wouldn't work because they changed the game to take stuff out. thats the same reason i treat my launch san andreas disc so well. i don't want to go get a lbp disc that might not work online.
Dave @ Oct 20th 2008 11:04AM
Those were the days before patches to all games. They've already stated they have a Day 0 patch ready, so in order to connect to the servers, i'm sure that'll have to be downloaded. (It better, i'm one of the (right now) lucky few who got mine saturday from NCSX.)
j.howlett @ Oct 20th 2008 11:32AM
i hope it works for you, i already let the person gifting it order it instead of sending me money. i would still worry because they recalled the old original disc to make new ones that won't need a patch. so as of right now i question if that patch will ever be released.
ColinZeal @ Oct 20th 2008 11:03AM
"It makes us sick to our stomach to hear that people who've snagged early copies of the now recalled LittleBigPlanet are selling the coveted discs on eBay."
Why? Because you´re jealous?
Kellian @ Oct 20th 2008 11:27AM
Wonder how long one will have to wait to be able to purchase the game Used?
Rafael @ Oct 20th 2008 11:35AM
in this world have idiots for everything, this include paying 250U$ for little big planet. you need to be a total 100% idiot to pay this for a game because its delayed 1 week.
Ben M. @ Oct 20th 2008 11:56AM
could someone tell me why this game has so much hype
i just dont understand why this game is so highly anticipated if i knew why i might love this game but as it is i just dont understand the hype

"It makes us sick to our stomach"
It makes me sick to my stomach that this whole recall thing happened.
eugene @ Oct 20th 2008 12:14PM
hear hear, lets not cave in to the rantings of a few religious nut jobs.
Ahmad Najeeb @ Oct 20th 2008 1:19PM
I got an early copy !! Yeah !!
Patrick @ Oct 20th 2008 2:09PM
C'mon, PS3 Fanboy. It's called "free market."
ChocoDK @ Oct 20th 2008 3:11PM
Sony and MM said "We will begin shipping out Little Big Planet the week of October 27th." And October 27th is actually a Monday and games generally are released/shipped out on Tuesdays. Some websites are saying its the 28th of October and others saying its November 3rd/4th. I lean towards believing the latter because MM will want millions of copies avaliable at all retailers for the actual day of release.
Also those people spending $250USD on the game are probably doing it because it will be a collectors item in the future. This whole recall though was kind of stupid but anyways....
Adjsteam @ Oct 20th 2008 3:21PM
so... sony is destroyng thousands of discs...
suuuuuuuuure...
Ben @ Oct 20th 2008 3:44PM
Be careful with that Oct 27 date. Sony said they would "begin shipping" during the "week of" Oct 27. They didn't say you could get the game on Oct 27.
I don't expect mine before Halloween.
Jack Tretton @ Oct 20th 2008 6:29PM
You've got rocks in your head if you think editing a couple lyrics makes the recalled version a collector's item.
Spaggiari @ Oct 20th 2008 7:26PM
Actually, I can understand that mark-up. Those copies of LBP are now collector's items as they are the only ones that contain the songs that sony now wants to remove and caused this delay in the first place. And depending on the success of LBP, those copies may one day be considered rare pieces of gaming history.
BTW. Those songs are awesome. They're by a guy named Toumani Diabate. They're super-mellow songs.
Highly recommended
Gump619 @ Oct 20th 2008 10:37PM
Aren't they gonna have a patch ready anyway? So you wont even be able to use the "original" copy without unplugging from the network and then you are stuck with the story. I say buy the re-release and listen to the track in question on myspace for free!
Chokl8 Th1der @ Oct 20th 2008 11:32PM
They had them at my local target today and several lesser known local places and blockbuster. You guys might want to grab a phone and check it out because it looks like they didn't get the memo.
cross @ Oct 21st 2008 5:54AM

mastima @ Nov 4th 2008 10:29AM
There's a eBay banner ad next to this forum that reads "mouse over to see whats on eBay now." and one of the things on there wasLBP selling for $82. lol.
