Rumor: Sony working on rewards system for Trophy-getters

This is interesting and somewhat bizarre at the same time. According to the US Official PlayStation Magazine (via CVG), Sony might be working on a rewards system for ~~Trophy-whores~~ Trophy-hunters. The concept here involves getting another type of reward for obtaining the most difficult Trophies.

Apparently, earning a shiny graphic of a platinum Trophy isn't enough of an accolade; there has to be more. US OPM suggests that the new rewards could be anything from early beta access, to free wallpapers and themes. As of right now, this is still a rumor. Take it with a grain of salt. If this does prove to be true, then Trophy grabbing seems to be an even more lucrative feature.

It'd be great. wanna be in the next LBP2 beta? don't cry for codes, just get 10 platinum trophies instead and you'll automatically get access to it! a bit extreme example, but that's the idea, isn't it?

I remember reading something like this in The Official Playstation Mag about rewarding people with high levels. This is kind of old news.

I think its a great idea. There needs to be more of a benefit rather than having just a graphic on your card.

I would like to see exclusive home furniture and clothes for high level people!

if this is accurate, Sony's trophies will destroy 360's achievements imo. back when i had a 360, i had wanted Microsoft to offer tangible rewards for a long time.

Lol, Andy's remark made me chuckle. Thanks for that. And about the reward system. That's pretty cool actually. I am a completist when it comes to games ( wether it has trophies or not ). And the only 3 games I have so far with trophies are Dead Space, Drake's Fortune, and Burnout Paradise. I just need dead space's 2 more trophies and 3rd platinum is mine!

Hope it is beta access, as if it is coupons or something... it might not be worth it. " 5 dollars off next coffee purchase at so and so " ehh =\

I can still think of a couple of things I'd rather've seen implemented than trophies but this is a step in the right direction; at least they wont be completely worthless.

Still, I'd rather have the backrub than some free themes. Especially if Jack Trenton is doung the rubbing. He looks like he's got strong hands there.

Who cares about trothies. To be all our truthful I am getting fed up reading about them on ps3fanboy or is this becoming more like trothiesfanboy.

Boring.

PS I bet there going to be an yank (the only people who care trophies) will say something as lame I am on level X. In other words Divided average IQ of 100 by the level there on and there you have they IQ. ;)

I agree with Amiga Dude. The Amiga was awesome! Also, I'm getting tired of reading about trophies too. I play games to have fun, not to stroke my ego with trophies.

Early beta access, free themes... isn't that what Qore is supposed to offer? There's not even enough of that content to make Qore worthwhile, there's certainly not enough to spread between two systems. Unless they replace Qore. People don't like paying for Qore to get stuff that should be free.
