Grand Theft Auto 4 Trophy patch coming October 27th

The latest Rockstar Social Club email has finally given us an indication of when we can see the Grand Theft Auto IV Trophy patch. We've known what the Trophies are for a little while now, but we were never quite sure when they'd be coming. Thankfully, we now have a date and best of all, it's soon. You'll be happily traversing Liberty City again (but this time for fun and profit) on Monday the 27th of October. That's only days away. So dust off your copy and have it ready and waiting. We'll be sure to tell you once the patch is live.

Probably not, I already got 100% in the game, did my key to the city, i have the game saves to prove it, that is good enough for me. I have LBP to play instead of this again!

Do you really have to ask? When was the last time any game with trophies was fully retroactive? If any game had a chance, it was Burnout, and not even they could have pulled it off.

Note to people who will post in future entries about trophy patches: They won't be retroactive, all right?

Difference with most games is they aren't tracking things like GTA does.

There are so many saved stats, it shouldn't be hard for them to pull off.

Actually, wem, burnout was tracking ALL stats online and they still weren't able to activate retroactive trophies like they said they would. Something about how Sony built the system. It's stupid really. If you can connect your stats to your PSN personally, there should be a way to make it retroactive.

All I'm really saying is don't get your hopes up. Chances are this won't be retroactive at all.

Guess I'll be playing this one over again as well since I assume the trophies are not retroactive. On the positive side, at least they are bringing them out and soon.

I can't wait to get some "Pheez" in GTA4 this monday, sadly it will have to wait a little bit because of Little Big Planet. Just completed Dead Space and got my platinum. Man are these things addicting!

Yea they should do that, i though i was the only one with the problem of it freezing but i thank god i'm the only one, it gets kind of annoying especially if i get into the game and then it freezes and it pisses me off...

I've got Resistance 2 Beta and LBP to keep me busy, so I won't get around to playing this for a while. Maybe I'll actually enjoy it more this time and actually finish it.

This is great news, I stopped playing this game a small bit into it because I knew that trophies would probably not be retroactive and I didn't have time to play.
Maybe now I might finish it.

this is kind of bitter sweet news. i just got back into the game and my progress is right around 50% . i'm not a trophy hound, but it'd be better if it didn't make me feel like i'm missing something

And once again, overreaction from a few individuals...

I'm not slamming the PS3. I like it and in fact don't own an XBox. Rockstar has recently updated a site that indicated an update to the XBox version (Which I've never played) http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/23/rumor-gta-iv-dlc-brings-quarantine-zombies/
Considering the game is coming to PC with updated graphics, and DLC available this fall to XBOX, it would be nice to have something a bit more than trophy support available on our PS3s.

I've got a hard time believing that its not a timed exclusive for the extra DLC. There are too many copies for the ps3 floating around out there to not throw an expansion pack up on PSN and price it something low like $5 or whatever.

It's printing free money for Rockstar if they already have it built for xbox.

FINALLY! When trophies were first announced I was looking forward to getting those trophies on GTAIV. I was going to rent the 360 version for the achievements but I guess I won't have to now. The only thing is that this patch is bitter sweet. This was my week off and now everything is coming when I got to go back to school again >_

We knew what the trophies were for a while, but I believe this is the first time that they were confirmed by Rockstar. When PS3 Fanboy first broke out the news of the Trophies, it was just the Xbox 360 achievements with the Platinum Trophy saying "Sorry for taking liberties with your time," and their source was some forum that didn't provide their own source. They just "knew" it was coming. I was happy at first, but very skeptical, since the list could easily have been something that someone just made in a matter of minutes. But I'm glad to see that a Trophy patch is indeed coming, and soon.

So maybe, just maybe I will play this game just for the trophies. Still think it is a stinker game. Low resolution ugly graphics low framerate. Sure it's nice to see a big living city and the animations are pretty okay but I was so disapointed when I put the game in my PS3 the first time :-( There are so many better looking games out there. I play on Full HD 40" screen.
If Metal Gear get's Trophies then I might buy that one. Right now I am still enjoying Burnout. CoD4 trophies would make my day though! Not going to buy CoD5, R2, Motorstorm2 because 1 year lifetime is not really worth the expensive games.

doesnt make sense that the the trophies aren't retro. Your PSN ID is linked to the Rockstar Social Club. Why can't they just use that to unlock what you already have? If the site can read all that info why can't a patch?

I have about 10 main storyline missions left so I guess tropies won't affect my game as much as other starting over. I'll play the Resistance 2 beta this weekend and Monday give this GTA update a spin.

Aren't you assuming that the people who bought GTAIV on PS3 just wanted to play GTAIV and that's it?, that they didn't care about the (potential) value of owning a PS3 over a 360? Also, aren't you assuming that the people who bought GTAIV on PS3 wanted the DLC?

Secondly, the 360 version has patches that you have to download, too, so idk what you are trying to prove there...

Lastly, according to IGN GTAIV plays better on PS3 "[with] far less pop-in. The 360 has richer colors, but the PS3 has better anti-aliasing making it look a little cleaner. Because GTA IV can preload onto the PS3 hard drive, the in-game loads are faster."

With this said, I don't think it's fair to say that (all) PS3 owners should have purchased the 360 version just because of your listed reasons....especially now that Trophies are coming Monday....

First of all, RROD was mainly problem with the first wave of consoles, it doesn't happen that often anymore. Sure one breaks up every once and then, but PS3's aren't undestroyable either. And every X360 has a hard drive, except the Arcade. But if you buy an Arcade, then Microsoft will give you a hard drive practically free (~25$) because of the upcoming BIG update.

What the hell are you talking about creating new accounts? I didn't need to create an account, just typed the message, entered desired nickname, enter email and open the confirmation link to send the message. And to send the message only, no registrations. man I know this site better than you, and I've never been here before.
And if you think I couldn't afford a PS3, then how the hell do you think I was able to buy a brand new Xbox 360 on the release date and with it, 48" HD-TV? Xbox 360 just had far more superior Exclusive games and online features than PS3 so I decided to go with it.

hey stargateheaven just so you know the Xbox 360 only has 4 more exclusives than the PS3, so don't say that the 360 has far more exclusives than the PS3 cause it only has 4 more. To be exact the 360 has 100 exclusives and the PS3 has 96. So shut up about 360 having a lot more exclusives cause it doesn't it only has 4 more.
