LittleBigPlanet patch hits v1.02
Well all right, so that v1.01 patch didn't fix the "disturbing" lyrics of Toumani Diabaté. What it did instead was tweak some online functionality and at the same time add in some more delightful costumes for sack people. However, v1.02 does remove the controversial lyrics and it's out now for Europe.
The v1.02 patch removes all the words from the song "Tapha Niang," leaving the track as a purely instrumental piece. As of yet, the North American version has not been updated -- we've checked, again. But that shouldn't really matter, should it? LittleBigPlanet technically isn't out, right?

Quick hide this before the xbox owners start making fun of us!
deaftly @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:15PM
I put 7 damn hours into this after work yesterday, amazing how time flies when you get a great game. Can't wait for the online to be enabled.
Khamvongsa09 @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:20PM
Still waiting for my copy
strike @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:41PM
ARGH! Sack boy =p
NintenDood @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:42PM
Did v1.01 add the Sephiroth and Old Snake costumes? :)
Mikemyerz666 @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:43PM
i think those will be downloadable content, possible but i'm pretty sure people would pay for those things.
Mikemyerz666 @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:47PM
i heard they are putting out a patch to fix the jumping because it's inconsistent, does anybody know if this is true?
Popfrogs @ Oct 25th 2008 1:24AM
One of the MM guys said the z-axis switching doesn't always work the way you expect it to so they may patch that.
Mr. Joe @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:51PM
hey, lard, i sent this to you on another reply a few days back. your anti-muslim slander isn't helping, and i believe you suffer from thought control because you're just being offensive to a religion you don't understand.
here's the old reply:
"i just want to point out that the game is family oriented. both sony and mm want everyone to be happy with it. in a way, yes, it is censored. but only because they really want everyone to enjoy. it's not like they took out a nude scene (GTA: San Andreas), removed blood (Resistance (Japanese release)), or removed drug use (Fallout 3). these were ADULT games that got censored, so removing a bgm from a FAMILY game seems legit to me.
oh and another game that removed religion Final Fantasy IV. and if you haven't played any (i'd argue ALL) of these games, then you don't deserve to be on a fanboy site!"
Darkage @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:52PM
One question:
How do so many people have this game already? They can't all be press, right?
ChocoDK @ Oct 23rd 2008 6:26PM
Some people have leaked copies because all of the games had been shipped to majority of stores prior to the delay. Then there are the other people who bought the game for $250USD on Ebay.
I don't have a copy and I was told by a guy at EB Games they had the shipment but had to send it back. A friend of mine who works at Wal Mart told me they got the shipment this past Tuesday and had to send them all back right away as soon as they got them >_
Think Adrian @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:54PM
I heard that, like MegaMan 9 has a "retro screen-glitch" mode, LBP will have a XBOX360 mode, is that true?
Mr. Joe @ Oct 23rd 2008 7:18PM
either i'm dumb or you're trying to flex your ps3 fanboy muscles too hard, cuz i don't get it.
iamkid @ Oct 23rd 2008 8:09PM
im with you mr joe, i dont get it much either, unless it actually was a joke, saying how mega man 9 has the..maybe 'less advanced' mode, while think adrian is saying an x360 version would be the 'less advanced' mode...idk, hard to tell.
Brinstar @ Oct 23rd 2008 7:29PM
Your anti-Muslim bigotry makes you look really ignorant.
justice354 @ Oct 23rd 2008 7:35PM
i find it upsetting to kno that thousands of people are playing this game right now while i wait a week
dave @ Oct 23rd 2008 9:03PM
It could be worse. You could be living in Australia, and have to wait two weeks. Yep, we're getting the revised copy on the 7th of November.
And to think that the recall was not even necessary. Bums me out. A simple patch or replacement deal would have kept everyone happy.
Kahuna @ Oct 23rd 2008 7:38PM
If the patch remove the lyrics from the game, so why was the game delayed?
The could just sell the game at the "normal" release date, and then release the patch that removes the lyrics.
Craig C @ Oct 24th 2008 7:03PM
Because not everyone has there PS3 hooked up to the internet.
iamkid @ Oct 23rd 2008 8:05PM
littlebigplanet v 1.02 is released. before the game is out. XD gotta love the banned copies
UncleCheeto @ Oct 23rd 2008 8:49PM
Still no update for the American version. I got my copy from NewEgg yesterday (gotta love that company!). I have been playing it like crazy...mostly because it takes forever to make anything good in the editor mode.
I really hope the patch for the controls come along soon because they can really be irritating in the later levels. Not that this game is bad...but I have definitely found myself ready to throw my ps3 controller at my plasma tv.
rgoff31 @ Oct 23rd 2008 8:54PM
So are people on the Euro Servers playing, sharing and making levels or are they just getting patches?
ice~ @ Oct 23rd 2008 9:44PM
I just bought a ps3 for this game and it gets delayed :( oh well I got a couple of days socom will hold me over... btw I heard target and walmart have LBP in stock, does anyone know f that's true in New York?
Lard @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:50PM
Mr. Joe:
First - being anti-censorship does not make me anti-Muslim.
Second, removing violent content is not the same as removing two lines from a song.
Apples and oranges.
Tom @ Oct 24th 2008 8:01AM
I always thought that the Qur'an is only the Qur'an when it's in Arabic.
This song is in Somalian.
Ergo, it is not phrases from the Qur'an.
Mr. Joe @ Oct 24th 2008 6:12PM
"Praise ..."
"Is that sackboy wearing a turban?"
"Way to bring up 9/11 right after censoring a game for Muslims Sony!"
"It this is truly being delayed to appease a bunch of fanatical jackasses on the basis of political correctness, consider my pre-order canceled."
- Lard
your sarcasm and choice of words are enough to prove that you are disrespecting not only muslims but arabs as well. so don't give me that "i'm not anti-" bs when you're stating your bigotry all over the site.
and two, i already pointed out that ffIV censored religious aspects but you claim this is not apples to apples? you claim violence is okay to be censored but not words that people may find offensive? all things get censored for some form of offensiveness. you can't be anti-censorship on just words. you have to back them all. and by backing them all, you're not taking into consideration that some people may have feelings. you're disregarding real concerns.
@tom, the lyrics from the qur'an in the song are in arabic. that's how they were noticed. also, the qur'an is the qur'an in any language, but the arabic text is most important because that is the original and things get lost in translation.
freeblue @ Oct 24th 2008 11:54AM
just got an email from bestbuy online, stated that release date is oct. 24 :) today woohoo. hopefully i will recieve an email soon to pick it up.
Gump619 @ Oct 24th 2008 1:42PM
I think it's safe to say that the small percentage of those with no internet access that DID acquire the recalled version, should not be a problem. Which bring me to the question, "Why do we still need a patch if 99% of the copies out there will include the fix?" What if the people that did get the original don't want the song screwed with? Pretty lame IMO.
Gonzo @ Oct 27th 2008 1:10PM
That's great. Can I have the game already.
PC-Max @ Oct 25th 2008 9:12AM
Hey, I don't care if they removed the lyrics. Personally who needs more background noise. Instrucmental works find and sets the mood more. Just a few more days and I will get my copy from Futureshop. Those of you playing it already, good for you. But I can wait for the release on the 27th.
Bibbly53 @ Oct 27th 2008 3:23AM
The recall was a lie. It was a delayed release.
