GHWT drums don't work with Rock Band
Whoops. If you're looking to buy Guitar Hero World Tour for the drumset, for use with Rock Band I or II, we've got some bad news. It won't work. Not sure why, we were promised, after all. Reports are that the games recognize the drum controller as a microphone, for some strange reason. Seeing as the drums were the only thing we found to be superior when compared to Rock Band, this removes a lot of the reasoning behind buying the game.
We're hearing that Rock Band instruments will work with Guitar Hero World Tour, however. So if you do actually find a reason to pick up the game, you'll be able to play it with those instruments. A Harmonix developer responded to the forum thread, stating "we are definitely looking into this. We'll keep you posted on updates as soon as more info is available." Anyone else get deja vu?

Hope they get it sorted out. My loyalties lie with Rock Band, especially since I've got so much invested in DLC. But I was thinking of snagging GH:WT drums for exactly this reason. The only thing that looks a bit wonky is the foot pedal... it's not attached to anything as far as I can tell...
Devin @ Oct 27th 2008 7:18PM
The foot pedal has stuff on the bottom of it that holds/sticks it to the floor and it does not move.....so you don't need to worry about that...

Unless you play on carpet, and then it's horrible...
to be honest both kits could use some work. The crosstalk between pad's and the pedal STILL breaking is pretty weaksauce for rb2, but something still doesnt feel right with the GHWT drums..
BTW if your having the disconnecting problem with your RB2 drums, shove some paper or something into the battery case so it's tighter. that small peice of foam isn't enough

Criterion tells you Burnout Paradise Trophies will be retroactive.
Harmonix tells you GHWT peripherals will be compatible with Rock Band 2.
I know it's not the developers' faults, but it seems you have to take everything with a grain of salt these days...

Anyone know if ORIGINAL Rock Band 1 strat will work with Guitar Hero World Tour?
I hate having to buy a new instrument, regardless of the company. And I can't really decide between the new RB2 or GH:WT guitars... make my purchase much easier if I can just buy both games, and use my RB1 instruments...
greg @ Oct 27th 2008 7:57PM
hey for ether games do u have to have it plugged into the usb ports on the ps3 as my usb ports on my ps3 r all broken
Fane @ Oct 29th 2008 6:16PM
For RB2: you need at least one functioning USB port, but can use any hub to have more than one instrument running through that one port.
wilboss @ Oct 27th 2008 8:39PM
Well this really needs to be sorted out!
How long have Sony been banging out the line that RB2, GH:WT and RR will all be cross-compatible!?!?!
I'll be getting GH:WT, maybe by the time Europe finally gets RB2 a patch will have been released...
Not impressed.
GleepGlop @ Oct 27th 2008 9:20PM
uh, GHIII logo = FAIL
iamkid @ Oct 27th 2008 9:53PM
i was playing rb2 yesterday morning, and world tour that night, and god was it fun, both of them.
Jason Chapa @ Oct 27th 2008 10:58PM
No compatibility issues on the 360. RB instruments work fine with GH:WT.
texasgreazer @ Oct 28th 2008 12:25AM
For those that do not know, Mad Catz is releasing cymbols for RB2 drum sets. You can get 1, 2, or 3 and they plug directly in. For this reason, and DLC I picked up RB2 full kit and got GH:WT game and single guitar.
Now, for the FYI. This compatability problems somewhat goes the other way as well. GH:WT will not let you play the drum tutorials with the RB2 drum kit. And I haven't yet figured out how to activate the GH:WT "star power" with the RB2 drums either. I'm guessing it may be possible but not knowing HOW GH:WT activates it for drums, the unplayable tutorial would sure help!! Any ideas?
On a side note, RB2 DRUMS might be slightly improved, but the KICK PEDAL still sucks. Waiting on an RMA, didnt work out of the box (using someone elses RB1 pedal for now with out a problem)
Death_kaze @ Oct 28th 2008 10:23AM
I know this has nothing to do with the drums but has anyone else noticed how the hammer-ons do not work for shit I'm sorry but I got gh wt so it would be like rock band gameplay wise with the whole band and all but would have gh ease of play when comes to hammer-ons and I must say epic fail
ram @ Oct 28th 2008 12:58PM
my xbox360 rock band drums work fine on ghwt fine on the ps2 yep ps2
mike @ Oct 29th 2008 11:12PM
I hate these compatibility issues. My Rock Band I guitar still won't work with GH:III (which I thought was supposed to be fixed). Now I hear that there are further compatibility issues with the RB2 and WT stuff?
If this keeps up, I'm not going to be buying anything GH related and I'm sticking to RB. I'm not buying more hardware for any of these games (that's right, I got my RBI guitar and thats it), but you can still sell me software IF you all get your acts together.
