4GB PSP Entertainment Pack will no longer see release
When the PSP Brite was introduced, SCEA had plans for two bundles. The first, which is available in stores now, is the Ratchet & Clank Entertainment Pack, which includes a silver PSP-3000, 1GB Memory Stick, a copy of Ratchet & Clank and echochrome download for $199. The other option, which was originally supposed to be available in November was the 4GB Memory Entertainment Pack, which included a black PSP-3000, 4GB Memory Stick and a download of Everyday Shooter for $199.
According to the PlayStation.blog, the 4GB Memory Entertainment Pack has been canceled before release. "SCEA has seen significant interest in the Ratchet & Clank Size Matters PSP Entertainment Pack in North America, which includes the updated PSP-3000. As a result, we will be streamlining our PSP hardware lineup and will no longer be offering the previously announced 4GB Memory PSP Entertainment Pack."
Sounds like a bad PR spin to us, but we'll manage. The Ratchet bundle looks like a good deal -- and as the post notes, a 4GB Memory Stick can be found on the cheap at many retailers.

So does that mean, only one color of the PSP 3k?
Philip @ Oct 28th 2008 9:55AM
try checking your sony style (retail store, last time i was there, they had 3 colors for the psp3000, (but cost $10 more for it))
Chane.san @ Oct 28th 2008 1:00AM
So are they not going to release the black PSP-3000 at all? or are they going to release the Ratchet & Clank Entertainment Pack with the black PSP-3000? or the black psp-3000 just by itself?
John @ Oct 28th 2008 2:51AM
wow, and i was looking forward to getting the psp 4 gig pack (to get a black psp). however, now that i hear that the screen has issues i think ill have to pass on getting a psp this year :(
atastysammich @ Oct 28th 2008 1:27AM
That absolutely REEKS of PR.
manuel @ Oct 28th 2008 1:55AM
What ARE they trying to hide?
Don @ Oct 28th 2008 2:14AM
Bad PR spin? That's a major understatement.
What does this even mean? No black PSP model? Or one without the memory stick??
Or.... black PSP coming when they figure out how to fix the screen problem. If they can't figure out how to fix it, black PSP coming anyway. Just later when all the noise blows over.
*DING* *DING* *DING* WINNER
Lord.... Sony could unleash a virus that turns us all into zombies & they'd figure out a way to spin it as a "flesh upgrade"..... [barf]

Ok, from the Sony Blog, Koller posted that the black PSP will be available as a Ratchet & Clank pack the same as the grey PSP (only of course, black) available in December. So both grey & black PSPs that have the same pack-ins.
That's... limiting. What if people only wanted the 4GB stick? What if people like me already have the R&C: Size Matters game? It's a very sad move for them to restrict variety in packs, going backwards.
I swear it's like someone at Sony is trying to undo their own progress.
Kspraydad @ Oct 28th 2008 2:15AM
Piano Black CORE to be released in December.
Obviously retailers in NA told them they wouldn't dedicate anymore floor space.
I still love my PSP.
aj @ Oct 28th 2008 4:39AM
Now would be a good time for non-Sony memory sticks to drop their prices and swipe some customers from Sony, who are clearly just trying to sell some extra memory by not giving away a 4 gig stick in a bundle.
The Aggie CEO @ Oct 28th 2008 7:11AM
so ummmmm yea.....I dont WANT Ratchet & Clank....might be a good game and all but I didnt want it.......thanks for FORCING me to get a game I DIDNT want
TM @ Oct 28th 2008 9:52AM
bad move, Sony. I have a feeling that most people like me would want a black psp with a 4 gig stick, not this. You ruined my holiday
Wreckard @ Oct 28th 2008 10:38AM
Wow, it ruined your holiday? You must have a fragile ego.
Just buy a core pack, and a 4GB memory stick, and stop being a drama queen.
The PR speak was obvious code for "No one was going to buy it so we're keeping the pack-in."
TM @ Oct 28th 2008 11:00AM
can't take a joke, eh? It did not really
Gurbinder @ Oct 28th 2008 3:38PM
you cant show sarcasm over the internet TM
TM @ Oct 28th 2008 9:56PM
damn right.
TM @ Oct 28th 2008 9:58PM
damn right
MedHead @ Oct 28th 2008 12:28PM
A core pack costs $170. A card costs $45. The bundle would have cost $200. It came with a free game, too. I guess it was just a $15 difference, but it's a pity it's gone.
Kilo720 @ Oct 28th 2008 12:51PM
wtf sony i really wanted tha pack
anyone no if everyday shooter still coming out
stizzo @ Oct 28th 2008 3:09PM
for those of you that don't want to pay $40.00 for a memory stick...

honestly I never buy the sony brand memory sticks because sandisk works just fine and it usually costs about half the price...
pixelator @ Oct 28th 2008 3:50PM
I just don't see it mattering. Sony keeps limiting choices and making horrible anti-consumer choices and developers, publishers and retailers alike are starting to actively push the PSP out of the light. Nobody wants to spend money shelving or developing a device that Sony themselves have all but ditched here in the USA.
PSP 2 is the next light at the end of this tunnel, and I have a bad feeling that we won't see it for a while.
Darlaten @ Oct 29th 2008 9:45PM
Good lord people - some of you act like its the end of the world. If you really dont like the R&C game or the movie that comes with the existing bundle - trade that stuff in and buy something else, i.e., a larger memory card. If the colour really matters to you that much, then just wait until December and buy it then - thats like only two months away.
I swear the PSP community has got to be largest and loudest community of whiners out there. Hell, I bet if Sony gave the PSP away for free to you - you'd still complain about it!
This announcement is not that big of deal - you can still get everything you want through either buying it separately and trading in stuff that you don't want. And quite frankly, it actually makes more sense as having less SKU's does not confuse the "general" public, i.e., not the people who post on here. Just look at what happened with all of the SKU's for the PS3 - it was downright confusing to the public and to retailers. This simplifies things greatly which should make it easier on retailers and the public.
As for 4 gig memory cards, you can get these for around $20.00 at most retail outlets - there not expensive. Break a five and spend some money. :)
stizzo @ Oct 30th 2008 6:57PM
urm... you can't re-sell the R&C game or the useless movie that comes with this bundle... they don't give you a case so gamestop won't take it.
ecco6t9 @ Oct 28th 2008 9:11PM
Once again Sony shot themselves in the foot and blamed someone else.
Gameplayer112 @ Oct 29th 2008 3:09PM
there is going to be a black psp 3000 out in decemeber but not with the 4gig
