Rumor: Rock Band 2 in Europe this side of Xmas
Nothing's confirmed, but it seems that one of EA's external PR partners may have let slip a possible release windows for Rock Band 2 in Europe. Originally they claimed, whilst talking to Eurogamer, that the game would be out "this side of Christmas." Eurogamer followed up with EA's internal PR team to check on the information and all they were told was the usual spiel: "MTV, Harmonix and EA have not formally confirmed a UK release date for Rock Band 2."
The same external PR partner sent out another email correcting their earlier "mistake." If it was indeed such a thing. If, on the other hand, this release window is accurate, we'll be very pleased. The almost year-long delay between US and European release for Rock Band 1 went beyond a joke and with Guitar Hero: World Tour releasing next week a lot of Europeans are looking for instant gratification with an, in our opinion, inferior product. If Rock Band 2 really releases this year then it's definitely worth waiting for, for the breadth of DLC alone.

Cheaper to import, although the exchange rate is crappy right now so it's not quite so good. UK prices for songs are actually slightly better now, pretending to be in PA helps with the cost since we have to use the PSN cards.

"in our opinion, inferior product."
No offence but Id rather play something NOW that wait a whole yeah like with the first one. And considering your recent review scores of late, I wouldn't give a squirt of a golden shower for your opinions atm.

Sorry Harmonix, you can go f u c k yourselves. You left Europe (the biggest gaming region) for dead, and now you pay.
GH World Tour for me... Anyone else sick of the way Europe gets treated, do something about it, boycott RB2, buy GHWT instead...

Too bloody right.

I don't know about boycotting Rock Band 2 by buying GH:WT, I'd rather boycott both by not buying a non-US version of either. GH:WT is a giant rip-off of Rock Band to quite an excess and does awful stuff like making you buy a whole album instead of the tracks you like, and Rock Band has bumped up the price and released a year late.
On the other hand, they'll take that as the rest of the world not wanting music games, just like the trouble we had getting RPGs because our buying pattern wasn't AAA title + RPG because games were more expensive.

I'd just like to add that our internal release lists (I work at Gamestation) still seem to have RB2 "software only" listed for Nov 21st.
The list has been wrong before, but it's a good sign.

Really doesn't matter since the RB1 equipment works perfectly fine in the game. Nothing being held back whatsoever after playing for at least 15-20 hours.

Whatever, I hated waiting for Rock Band, too, and ended up importing, but to hold a grudge against a faceless company is silly.
Shall be buying the sequel when it hits before Christmas.

Unless you've managed to not get any DLC, you'd best import the second one too, the DLC isn't region compatible. If you're talking peripherals, ignore me. I've imported RB2 though, great, although the on-disc content isn't as good as the first in my opinion.
Will be importing the instuments when I have the money (I could wait until they get released here, but again, probably cheaper to import).

There was a Microsoft ad on TV in the UK which stated Rock Band 2 will be released in November.

So the PS3 version should be out May '09 then :/
Really makes HMX look like wankers when they say they just want to get the game to as many people as possible.

"Guitar Hero world bore" "inferior clone" "inferior product"
You are really starting to piss me off, Jem. Being a fanboy of a certain game is just silly. Do you only by 1 racing game or FPS? All instruments are now compatible also, so why would you only get 1 game.
Peter @ Oct 29th 2008 8:49AM
'cause the other one isn't as good and not worth the money?
