Ranyard replaces Bozek as head of SingStar franchise
We know you've all been wondering who's going to be replacing Paulina Bozek as head of the SingStar franchise after she quit to join Atari. Finally, we've got an answer. Dave Ranyard has been appointed as the franchise's head and leaves his previous position of creative services manager to Dan Bardino. We'll be intrigued to see what changes, if any, will be made by this wee resuffle. SingStar continues to release decent DLC every other week and with SingStar ABBA and SingStar Disney on the horizon before Christmas the series is the strongest it's ever been.

I'm still awaiting a decent update to the American SingStore. And with the Vol.2 disc coming out, I don't want to have to buy the Vol.2 disc just to get the songs on that tracklist. Those songs should be available in the SingStore as well.

I couldn't agree with you more! We shouldn't even have to buy the PS2 series to be able to sing along w/ those songs. DLC is the way to go using Sing Store.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - no fucking Abba.

"SingStar continues to release decent DLC every other week "
no, very no.

So when Singstar releases disc based band expansions its good, but when Guitar Hero does it its milking?

No Singstar Disney in the U.S.
Which is where Disney is located.
Weird.

I have given up on Singstar with its lackluster updates and hope that LIPS can fulfill my video karaoke fix.

Hopefully we'll get wireless mics, but I won't hold my breath.

Slightly OT about SingStar versus Karaoke Revolution.
I have two Karaoke Revolution mics already. I know that SingStar mics can't work on KR games, but can KR mics work on SS games?
I just feel silly having 2 sets of mics?
Any thoughts on this anyone?

Decent DLC every other week? Get your facts straight. I've given up on this game.

We do have decent updates in the UK.
Also, in response to:
"So when Singstar releases disc based band expansions its good, but when Guitar Hero does it its milking?"
You can hot-swap discs to play content from all the discs in one game. Also, some of the disc releases are already available in the DLC form. More on their way. Sure they were disc exclusive first, but that's what business is all about.. The disc releases are for people who don't have internet access on their PS3 and can't download those songs. Can you say the same about Guitar Hero? No. That's just milking. No excuses.
lego91994 @ Oct 30th 2008 7:12AM
You kind of contradicted yourself by saying the GH games were milking and then saying the Singstar games were for people without internet access. Wouldn't that same reason apply to the GH games?
Archon @ Oct 30th 2008 7:16AM
No, as they don't release that content as DLC afterwards. Singstar does. They give you an alternative. Also, even if you do have all the Singstar discs, you can hot-swap them during the game which further indicates that they are meant to be treated as an expansion, not a separate entity.
