Alone in the Dark: Inferno heating up Europe November 14th
Atari has announced the European release date for their reworking of Alone in the Dark, which was released earlier in the year for just about every other console. Gaining the subtitle of Inferno, the PlayStation 3 release will debut in Europe on November 14th (US gamers will see the game on the 18th) and will contain the definitive version of the game featuring better controls, improved inventory system and an extra sequence found in one of the episodes. Still undecided about the game? Check out our hands-on impressions or try out the demo up on the PSN right now.

The demo = Garbage. Even with max brightness, couldn't see anything. And the controls are terrible, I'd hate to see what they were like on 360 since they were apparently worse.

lmaoo mine was fine on normal brightness
but im rockin the HDTV idk about u
Syn @ Nov 3rd 2008 7:14PM
For starters. I have an HDTV. Secondly. I couldn't see the floors. And it is not my tv since every other game is fine.
D_Average @ Nov 3rd 2008 7:51PM
If I was given the option to puke all over my sweater on the way to work, or play this demo again, I would choose the former.
Jake @ Nov 3rd 2008 4:26PM
last time i check there was no demo
Jake @ Nov 3rd 2008 4:38PM

flynn110 @ Nov 3rd 2008 4:50PM
i played this demo on the us store and i must say I was very disappointed. this went from what i thought would be a definite purchase to a no-buy. the game just felt cheap. and moving around felt like you were steering the titanic. i wonder what phil harrison is thinking now.
ADPolicenaut @ Nov 3rd 2008 5:07PM
Probably thinking that HE is steering the Titanic.
chililili @ Nov 3rd 2008 5:11PM
Yeah you are right, the controls are just plain painful, plus when you are dragging a body the right control stick no longer moves the camera, which sucks as you cannot see where you are going, also the combat felt pretty damn crappy and the demo had excessive clipping and completely unrealistic rag doll physics. I really did not like it which sucks cause I had high hopes for it
Bad Mojo @ Nov 3rd 2008 5:18PM
Not that I have any intention of playing it... but do you guys think the suck factor has anything to do with the Keanu Reeves lookalike on the cover?
Jerses @ Nov 3rd 2008 5:40PM
Keany reeves native american.
Evan @ Nov 3rd 2008 10:28PM
Crappy demo. Why do I have to switch between first-person and third-person to use a fire extinguisher? Pick one and stick with it!
Chris @ Nov 3rd 2008 10:28PM
This is the worst game in the world, i downloaded the demo lastnight and it was just bad, as a matter of fact this is one of the few games that I do not have one single good thing to say about. 100% SHIT
Albanian_Killa @ Nov 3rd 2008 10:28PM
The demo is garbage. I don't know how anyone can drop money for this game. Flicking dollar bills out of sheer boredom gives me more fun than playing that. Phil Harrison left Sony for this crap?
maxpontiac @ Nov 3rd 2008 6:22PM
Downloaded the demo.
+ Graphics.
+ Voice acting.
+ Blinking.
+ Opening your coat to see your inventory.
+ Ability to switch from 1st to 3rd person.
+ Interactive environments.
- Controls were clunky
- Combat felt forced.
- No trophies for final version.
All in all, if this game was 30 bucks and had trophies, I would be picking this title up.
Kevin PSN: Keviseg15 @ Nov 3rd 2008 7:13PM
trophies are so not a deciding factor for me
i feel sorry for people who it is.
Devin @ Nov 3rd 2008 8:59PM
Trophies do matter in some sense (to me) b/c they add more replayability to a game unless the trophies are handed out like candy to a baby (*cough*achievements*cough* not all, but most...), but I agree; a broken game w/ trophies is worse off IMO than a great game w/o.....
j.howlett @ Nov 3rd 2008 6:28PM
i still have to make room for the demo to try myself. i notice some of the biggest fanboy xbots and others stating they played through it despite bad controls so i want to give it a shot. hopefully the fire is worth it
Tobber @ Nov 3rd 2008 10:29PM
Tried the demo, and if the controls and inventory is supposed to be improved, the 360 version must have been pretty much unplayable! This is really not good. Play Dead Space instead, and if you've completed Dead Space already, then just play it again instead of this crap...
ploskinj @ Nov 4th 2008 12:08AM
Disappointing garbage. I can't imagine how bad the controls are on XBox if this is the better version. The voice acting is horrible too.
Also, what was with that lame set up? Amnesia? Guys in trench coats with machine guns? What the hell?
How about you take it back to the basic elements? You're alone. In the dark.
And why the hell is this taking place in the modern day? Alone in the Dark was a period piece and that's part of what made it awesome.
russell @ Nov 4th 2008 9:52AM
let's see.
Fallout 3
LittleBigPlanet
Resistance 2
End War
Mirror's Edge
and then there is this coming out... I don't think I'll need to play this game to keep myself entertained.
Also, I played the demo. If I didn't know better I would think the main character is a huge fat ass with very poor agility. Like everyone said the controls are shit, way too clunky, can't see anything. Locking on to things to use action button requires way too much precision, aiming with gun is shit. Also they tried really hard to be innovative, but with the clunky controls and bad picture you can't really be innovative, it's a challenge just to actually function in this game, I can't imagine playing the game if it is even remotely difficult game-wise. Maybe if they made it more arcade style instead of trying to simulate real life I think it would be more fun.

Keviseg15 -
Now while I respect your opinion...
Trophies in a game bring excellent replay value to my (the imperative word here) purchase, and I feel I get more bang for my buck..
Take Dead Space for example, without trophies, I would probably never play the game again after I beat it. But, with trophies such as "One Gun", and "Hard Play through" I will be playing the game again. Considering this game has ONLY a singleplayer campaign, this gives ME (again, ket word) incentive to replay the title.
My point? Your condescending (or others) remarks about MY (are we getting it yet?)choice to purchase games with trophies are not only completely unnecessary, they highlight your insecurities as you attempt to force your over inflated opinions as facts for everyone else!!
Good day.
