Image importing coming to LittleBigPlanet by Xmas
We get it. You're creative. An artist. Using the PlayStation Eye to import your artwork into LittleBigPlanet just doesn't cut it. Thankfully it seems that Media Molecule has noticed your tears. Speaking at the recent Game City event in England, Alex Evans confirmed that proper image importing will be made available in a patch before Christmas. Which is next month, in case you're not keeping track.
There's no indication of how the image importing will work, but we assume there'll be memory sticks and/or USB keys involved. Expect a size limit too. Photographs taken with the PS Eye are currently the biggest contributor to a level's file size. We look forward to this patch, the online Create Mode patch and any other goodies Media Molecule decide to send our way.
[Thanks PS3 Attitude]

niiiiiiiiiiice.....
was wondering about that........
now I can put some of my photoshop creation in my levels....
was getting kind of tiring to print stuff out and then try to take a picture of it with my PSEye

Images will be imported directly from the XMB Photo folder.
How you get images there from your computer is up to you, but you're not limited portable media. You can upload images to personal webspace or something like flickr and then save the images to your PS3's HDD via its browser.

Well, wait..
http://www.lbpblog.com/2008/11/01/importing-images-from-hard-drive/
This blog from lbpblog.com says it was denied by Sam_protagonist (LBP Sony Community Manager). Media Molecule didn't annouced anything on their site, and they say if anyone read anything about stuff that will be in lbp anywhere but the official site of Media Molecule, it's just a rumor. :(
mahunoy @ Nov 3rd 2008 10:54AM
Please check out my LBP level
My PSN ID is "mahunoy" and the name of the level is "Chuck's mom". Thanks!
cLanKin89 @ Nov 3rd 2008 10:55AM
yep you're right, this post is already wrong.
here's a quote from the blog 'So until hearing an official announcement, this feature is not in Media Molecule’s future plans for the game.'
Ultimadream @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:03AM
Wait are you saying you cant import images from your PS3into the game anway, that feature was shown on the demonstartions!
stargateheaven @ Nov 3rd 2008 8:31PM
that was from the PSEYE.. which you can do.
Jerses @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:14AM
They should remove the trophies from the servers lol people are building levels that give you 7 trophies in one go :P
Clankin89 @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:20AM
and the problem is.........
Jerses @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:26AM
Not a problem but where is the challenge in having them in less than a minute? This kind of trophies should have been in the story mode to add more challenge. Its like trophies justices or something lol
Gervin @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:33AM
I know... very ridiculous. Then again, I think trophies as a whole are stupid.
Gervin @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:31AM
Hope the images are not as distorted as those by the PlayStation Eye. I bought one specifically for this game and was extremely disappointed by the large amount of really poor image compression. (I understand the need for image compression for the levels, but it's REALLY REALLY poor).
rgoff31 @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:50AM
One of the authors of the more popular levels also has a level featuring a screencap of pedobear. I can only imagine what kind of trouble this will cause.
ryan @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:17PM
LittleBigPorno?
J @ Nov 3rd 2008 8:24PM
more like LittleBoyPorno
HaloEleven @ Nov 3rd 2008 12:09PM
I'd be real surprised if this ever comes to be. Too many legal issues for Sony/MM if high-quality obscene and/or copyrighted materials are hosted on their servers.
BigHershey @ Nov 3rd 2008 1:09PM
LOL @ ryan
I was thinking someone would prolly take it that far. Makin their "unique" statements within a level that some will find very offensive.
rothgar @ Nov 3rd 2008 4:27PM
Now is there a way to extract pictures from the game? That is what I really want. I have some cool pictures I want to set and my computer wallpaper.
PSN: Puselva @ Nov 5th 2008 4:26PM
Well isn't there a screenshot feature now that came out in FW version 2.50? Or is it coming out soon? Maybe you could use that to get a screen grab, and then make that into your wallpaper??
I'm not sure, just throwing that out there as an idea.
rothgar @ Nov 10th 2008 12:26PM
I was very hopeful for this to work but alas, it did not :(
Thanks for the tip though.
spyker @ Nov 3rd 2008 4:50PM
Perfect! Now they just need to let us use our own sounds/music!
foolkiller79 @ Nov 3rd 2008 4:53PM
Those of you concerned about obscene material in the levels, there is a report system in the game. You just hit Select and fill out the form to send it into MM.
John @ Nov 3rd 2008 5:57PM
And my PSEye just came today. This is still good news though.
Skyflur @ Nov 3rd 2008 9:57PM
Oh my god yes, finally! My dream level will come true!
Inspace2020 @ Nov 4th 2008 4:52AM
Sweet!! Can't wait for this if it's true!!
Check out my "Mission To Mars" level

I just tried yesterday to use the PS Eye to capture a picture. The quality is really crappy, it seems like they purposely reduce the quality of the images.
When I was holding the Eye in front of the object, the quality on the screen in the live preview was great, but then I snapped the picture it looked awful.
Is there some trick I don't know of?
rgoff31 @ Nov 4th 2008 12:23PM
Denied by Sony on many sites now.
